My wife and I went climbing with Atlantic Climbing School for a half day. I have been top rope climbing a bunch but my wife had never climbed outside. We had Daniel as our guide who clearly knew what he was doing and put my wife at ease for her first climb. He was amazing. Otter cliffs are also beautiful

Our guide Ted was the best! He was fun, professional and tailored the climbing experience to what we needed. At first, I was hesitant to climb with a guide, but there is value in having someone with so much experience. Ted helped calm our anxieties and made safety the goal during our trip. He was accommodating as well - allowing me to rappel down with my wife so I can record some videos. Thank you guys for making our experience at Acadia so special!

I dont usually write reviews on anything, but I have to express my gratitude for Atlantic Climbing School. Ryan was my instructor/guide and as a first time climber he helped me to feel comfortable and fully enjoy the beauty of Acadia! I cannot say enough about how incredible my day was it was inspiring on so many levels. Ryan and the whole school are one of a kind, truly amazing what they do for people visiting the island. 100% coming back for a day of climbing when the season opens up again!

My wife and I recently went out to Otter Cliffs near sand beach with Daniel. Initially climbing over the cliff ledge was a bit of an intense experience (at least for me) but it was a lot of fun overall and we had a great, memorable time. Highly recommend Daniel, he’s a cool guy and a great instructor!

We climbed with Paddy our guide yesterday. He was so genuinely passionate about his job you couldnt help but have a great time and know you were in good hands. He took the time to explain everything and had a wealth of knowledge about the outdoors. We had lots of laughs and fun climbs. He was great at designing the half day specifically for us. Hes a great singer too! He took pictures for us and sent them to us when we were done. He went above and beyond our expectations. Paddy your personality is perfectly suited for your job and you will be fondly remembered. Thanks for the smiles and memories. All the best to you!

If you are able to rock climb, seeing Acadia from this viewpoint is an eye opening experience. Mac was an awesome, knowledgeable guide. Otter cliffs was insane!

Amazing experience. Our guide Chris was amazing. From the start of filling out the paperwork, through the climb, all the way to the end of our tour, he was accommodating, insightful, experienced, and welcoming. It was like spending time with an old friend that we just met. We went down to Otter Cliffs where my son (13) and I climbed several routes. Having only climbed indoor at gyms, the experience of climbing outdoors at a location as spectacular as Otter was jaw dropping. We had the best time, with Chris testing our skill level on the first route and then stepping it up to keep it challenging.I could not more highly recommend this school, and if hes available, definitely ask for Chris. Thanks for making the day such a memorable experience.

My partner and I had a fantastic climbing experience with Atlantic climbing school. Everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming. The gentleman on the phone was very fun and helpful, and our guide Jeremy made us feel very safe. He suggested fantastic climbs and routes that were perfect for our skill set (but still challenging/rewarding). Thanks for an incredible first time outdoor climbing experience Atlantic!

Murphy was the absolute best guide we could have ever hoped for. A true professional, and hilarious to boot. He immediately put our group at ease -- from seasoned indoor climbers to barely beginners. He explained every aspect of the equipment to us so we could trust the science of it, and riffed and encouraged us to keep the mood festive throughout. It was a double birthday event and he rewarded us at the end of the trip with locally made fig newtons!! This is the second time Ive climbed in Acadia and I can tell you that its an experience that is well worth the expense. Guides like Murphy make an amazing experience that much better (he was SO great!), but Im sure whoever you get will make sure its a wonderful.

When planning our honeymoon stay in Bar Harbor, climbing in the Acadia National Park was at the top of our list since my husband and I have some experience climbing, but mostly indoors. We chose the Otter Cliffs to explore as advised by our instructor, Ryan, for a full experience. He was not wrong! The climbs were great and the view was even better! We couldn’t be any more appreciative of Ryan for making our day unforgettable. He was not only very knowledgeable but had a great personality, making the experience extremely enjoyable. He made sure we were safe each climb and gave great advice when we found ourselves stuck. We wish we could have stayed longer to adventure out to other climbing sites in Acadia. Thank you so much!

If you are trying to determine whether rock climbing is the right activity for your vacation, let me assure you- it is. It will be the highlight of your vacation. Even if you have never climbed, you will have fun. Beautiful scenery, physical challenge, and exhilarating entertainment, Atlantic is absolutely competing to be the best climbing school in Bar Harbor. After climbing with both Atlantic and Acadia, we felt that both companies did a great job and both were super professional. However, we had so much fun climbing with our super laid back guide, Ryan. He is such a gem! After climbing with both companies, I feel like Atlantic processed our paperwork and sizing more efficiently, ultimately allowing us more time on the rocks. Additionally, Atlantic has a much more laid back and cooler vibe, while Acadia was more of structured lesson. We had great experience with both companies and the guides all have different strengths so it’s not really fair to compare- but my next visit will be with Atlantic. Tip your guides appropriately (they work super hard to keep you safe and make sure you have a great time) and don’t miss out on seeing Acadia from the edge of a sea cliff- it’s a vantage you will never forget! It’s sooooo worth it!!!!

Ryan from Atlantic Climbing School saved the day! After (literally) rescuing me from the top of the South Wall he helped me conquer my fears by providing a thorough lesson on setting anchors on gear and rappelling techniques / rappelling safety at Otter Cliffs. As someone with a huge fear of heights I found Ryan to be incredibly calming and patient. In addition to his extensive knowledge about climbing he was such a cool person to hang out with which really made for a fun day of climbing. My partner has been climbing for over 10 years and was also able to learn from Ryan and improve his anchor building techniques. Whether you just want to hang out on some rocks while on vacation or you need assistance with your 11b project, Ryan is your guy. He also takes great photos, wont judge you for your selfies, and the Atlantic Climbing School crew is all over the guide book. They know the area in and out and will help you create the experience you are looking for.

I went out for a day of climbing with my daughter and niece (both beginners, Im a decent gym climber with only a little outdoor experience). We all had a great time, Zack (our guide) was really fun and attentive to what we wanted and took us to routes that were just right for us. Id recommend Atlantic for anybody who wants to climb in Acadia and needs a guide.

I had a great half-day climb with Reed on the South Meadow a couple weeks ago. Hes knowledgeable and is a great climbing, but hes not preachy or condescending, just really helpful. He asked about my expectations beforehand, so he could be sure to give me the adventure I was looking for. He was skilled enough at guiding to check my abilities out on an easy climb first, and saved the best for last. He gave me great encouragement and suggestions up the last pitch, as a good climbing guide/buddy should be.Im an experienced climber, though I havent lead much, so it was great to be able to climb with ACS and experience the beautiful and challenge of climbing at Acadia.Also, Rebecca was really friendly and helpful at scheduling the climbing session.Id definitely climb with ACS and Reed again.

We did a climb with Wendy and she was the greatest!!! We def recommend this school for their professionalism and knowledgeable instructors! My boyfriend who loves climbing enjoyed it so much and I (having never climbed) loved that Wendy gave me options and was understanding of my fear of heights. The best part was the smile on my boyfriends face while loving every minute of this experience. We will def be back for a full day sometime in the future when we’re back on mt. desert island. Ask for Wendy, best instructor ever!! :)

Five of us did a half-day session with Atlantic Climbing School today, and were happy with everything about the experience. The guides were terrific from the start: friendly, capable, fun...but entirely professional and really capable, very conscious of safety.They geared us up quickly, and the trip to the cliffs only took about 15 minutes. They explained every part of the process, and were great about starting us at whatever pace we were comfortable with: some of us were more comfortable than others, and they adapted perfectly. There was time for us to each do several climbs on various routes, which was plenty.Cant say enough things about our two guides/instructors: Wendy and Dane. They were great, from start to finish.

We did a 4 hour session with Ryan at Otter Cliffs and it was perfect. He was so friendly and professional and taught me the basics of setting up. Everything was so safe. The three of us took turns climbing and did 3.5 climbs each. My favorite was the chimney one, the most famous in Acadia. With the Atlantic Coast under us and waves crashing into the walls were climbing above, it was beautiful and so much fun.

I personally want to thank Jay for being my guide and instructor last Thursday. My husband and I found him to be extremely professional and personable. This was my first experience, and on Friday my face hurt from smiling the entire time. Jay, thank you again and I would highly recommend this school to anyone with or without climbing experience. This was a great experience in every way. The Atlantic Climbing School impressed us with their professionalism and outstanding staff. Wendy was an incredible guide - instructing us about the gear, terrain and safety precautions; talking us through the climbs; engaging in a friendly and fun way. This was our first time rock climbing and we highly recommend it.

Atlantic Climbing School provided us with an amazing adventure during our time on Mt. Desert Isle. Communication with them was great ahead of time to help us choose the right options and make reservations before we got there. Our instructor, Seth, gave us superb guidance and support with a complete knowledge of all the handholds and footholds and the innate ability to determine when to point them out and when to let us find them on our own. He had us advance at our own pace and challenged us without pushing us past our capability. This was our first rock climbing outing and it wont be our last. Well be back!! Could not reach this place. Our email wasnt replied to and when you call the land line it goes straight to a voicemail stating to email them. Very frustrating we really wanted to take a tour.Edit: I called several times before I emailed Atlantic Climbing School at 9:54 AM on February 11, 2019. By the time I had a response via email from said company it was 10:35 AM on February 12 and I had already posted my reveiw since it was OBVIOUS that evening, Febraury 11th, we would NOT be set up for a tour or any activity the next day. Now that its been nearly 2 months since this transpired Ive been contacted by Atlantic Climbing school to remove my post because they dont want a bad rating and my review was not accurate since they did contact me. My apologies; however, you DID NOT contact me within 24 hours nor in a timely manner at all. I dont feel that this is appropriate behavior for any business. Especially when their end goal was not to apologize or compensate or understand the frustration, it was only to improve their rating. And I feel that you all need to be aware that sometimes you irritate customers it happens, apologize and move on. Try to do better next time. As I suggested via their email that they should look into checking their emails more frequently or installing a voicemail system. Now the fact that they contacted me for this sort of behavior has made me decide to NEVER use their services. I would have given then another chance possibly next year when we are up there again but not now not ever. Please Atlantic Climbing School do not contact me again to change my star rating.

Had a wonderful experience rock climbing at the otters cliff with this company. The instructor was a delight to hang out with and he ensure that safety was the top priority in all the climbs. Make sure you pick start early to avoid feeling the heat of the sun!

Decided to do this for Fathers Day. When we went to make the reservation, I found out the ENTIRE FAMILY could do this, not just the adults. My daughter just turned 4 years old and is tiny (32lbs). Weve never climbed before. I am not in top shape myself. Needless to say, I was a tad bit skeptical. They took up to South Bubble mountain. The short hike in was very easy. They set the ropes, taught us, and let us inspect every inch of every piece of equipment, as well as test and re test everyones harness. My little girls was so secure in her harness, that it should be a standard model for buckling kids into car seats -no way to come out at any angle. The climbing was pleasantly challenging and yet each one of us were capable of doing this. We has so much fun, I credit it as the very best Fathers Day gift Ive ever come up with. We left feeling accomplished, proud, exercised, and excited about finding a new fun family adventure that we can not wait to do again.

Tons of fun and the staff was so nice and helpful! Definitely recommend I had a great time and have no complaints!
