Good size enclosure for the dogs. Were many baggies available to pick up after pets. Also a water faucet near gate to get water.
Neighborhood Park - consistently patronized by families, groups, walkers, 4:20, pikachu, and dog owners. Amenities include: B-ball courts, tennis courts, enclosed dog park, updated childrens area, horseshoe pits, many tables and BBQ grills, and two multi-user restrooms (run down, no doors on stalls, but cleaned routinely). P.G. players: there are two gyms and five poke stops. Frequented by homeless, but I havent seen problems. Always wise to be aware of your surroundings. Because its older, there are many large trees providing lots of shade
The electrical for the lights is missing. I have found this to be an issue at multiple public courts in bakersfield. Very disappointing.
Lots of homeless...didnt feel safe in daytime cant imagine what it must be at night...
This is a nice park, Ive been here with my kids and also my dog (there is a separate fenced area for dogs to go off their leash.) There are usually homeless people in the park but none of them have ever bothered us or even approached us. There are basketball courts and tennis too. Unfortunately the 58 is going to be built right next to it, construction is happening now and many of the streets around it no longer go thru from California to Stockdale.
Nice place, big grassy area for pups to run and socialize
Nice park to play basketball or horse shoes. Its alot of construction going on around it now due to the freeway the city is building but still a great park and good safe area.
Nice park! In a quiet neighborhood. Has basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts, and some jungle gyms for kids.
A nice and quiet park for dogs
Nice clean large child friendly park. Locate right by a nice dog park.
No one was there, which I like.
The homeless population have taken over
Clean and green!
Nice clean, friendly park with sides n swings. Kid friendly
My dogs love this plave
I enjoy the dog park. There is a small childrens area, basketball ball courts and a field sports area in the dog park. Good picnic areas but a small homeless presence who have never caused problems while Im there and many are friendly.
I love this place lots of trees great for dogs birthday parties, playing tennis and basketball
Clean and Decently tended
Now that theres new development, the park is now lookin more clean to come to. The play ground still needs some more up keeping for my kids to play play on. If you walk up close to the play fround, the dirtier it is. Squaters like to leave there food and trash, but still a nice place to come and get your dog out the house and run around in that dog area.
Great place to play ball at night!
There are always crazy homeless people in the bathrooms or behind the bushes...
I tried to walk in Centennial Park and Lease three to four days a week me and my brother and I want to talk at least 6 or 7 times a day but if my brother was not with me I could not walk theres a lot of homeless people in the park and the maintenance and grass people come to clean up but its also a dog park and they dont clean it up very well poop sits there almost a week before you see it gone and they just cleaned the park up so if its a dog park and the people do not clean up their own poop its up to the maintenance groundskeeper or whoever to get it up and not have the Walkers walking all over it
Slides are broken for little kids. Plywood on the entries and trash around the playground
A small park to have a good family-quality time? Yes!
Its a nice park best in mid town I believe South West is where they use lOur tax paying dollars
Been going to this park since i was a lil kid its a nice quiet clean safe park with a big caged in area for your dogs to run and play together safely also has restrooms but not much to say about the same as every other park in town when comes to being clean
Too many big dogs at the dog park.
Its a good clean park
Great park Great neighborhood.
I love the people at the dog park. Everyone is soo friendly
It was fun just a little dirty
Always peaceful and quiet. Beautiful neighborhood minus all the construction and destruction preparing for the new freeway coming through. Thank goodness it will not hinder the park. Enjoy
Nice quiet park
Great park, just sucks that they took goalie box away!!!
Its a very nice park to go to for bbqs and for family fun.
Good place to spend the day playground areas next to the kern river
Beautiful park. Quiet .
Very comfortable place to walk and play Pokemon Go.
Great place to take the dogs to run and play freely off leash in a secure area...
It is a very easy entrance and I like the long drive that runs through it.
Park in great condition - bathrooms terrible.
Nice quiet environment.
Fun in the restrooms at night time
Cool spot to post up and smoke a bowl or three
Nice park no shade from the sun
Great park kids loved it clean friendly neighborhood around there people said hi really enjoyed it
Homeless people and drug addicts frequent this park regularly so stay safe and never go to this park. This was my experience: I finally decided to try take my dogs to the leash free zone of Centennial park on Stockdale & Monclaire street. As soon as I got to the gate two elderly Animal Control Officers (one bald man and one woman) rapidly drove right up to the entrance and started asking me questions about my dogs and whether or not they are licensed. I was about to eat a hot lunch with someone else and wanted to eat in peace. After I provided proof my dogs are legal they continued talking to my friend and I knew the food was getting cold so I interrupted them and told them to move on. The man got extremely upset and walked over to the bench where I was sitting and got about 2 feet from where I was sitting and started aggressively staring down in my face and accusing me of being all sorts of names such as mentally ill, with serious problems etc. I felt extremely uncomfortable by this strange old man berating me at the park while my food was getting colder and colder and I stood up and asked him why he is harassing me and to just leave me alone because I proved I have the right to take my dogs to the park. He then got even more aggressive and hostile and threatened to call the cops and take me to JAIL! I told him he was the hostile one and I should be the one calling the police and the woman officer (whom appeared to be his partner/spouse) started grabbing him and trying to coerce him away from me and back in the car (which was an unmarked car and likely illegal BTW). He reluctantly obeyed her partners demands and left. While I was at the park I saw three dangerous looking homeless people (one of them was wondering around near the entrance of the dog park gate talking to himself) and 3 people doing drugs 30 yards from the entrance of the dog park gate. I felt disrespected, harassed, berated and unsafe and it was a HORRIBLE experience, especially when the authorities are focused on me and my legally licensed dogs while ignoring the real problems that were going on at the park right in front of them. Stay safe, be smart and AVOID THIS PARK.
Nice park, I used to go here like fifteen years ago and it looks much smaller now. Four stars because I wasnt totally wowed by the bathrooms there which have no doors on the stalls, not that thats the parks fault Im sure theres a reason. Either way its a nice park so definitely check it out.
Great park for playing and BBQing! Restrooms were awfully dirty and no doors on the womens stalls. Parks and Recreation is not taking care of the amenities in this park. Bring your own toilet paper they do not provide it. I would have given it 5 stars but the place was dirty.
Nice!!!! Big red ants though! !!! Bathrooms available, & for the most part clean,& not locked:)
Trash
Great time with family.
Outstanding playground equipment for 3 to11 year olds.
But as you might guess from the name, the best thing about Westpark is the park. Located smack dab in the middle, Centennial Park has something for everybody. Play areas, basketball courts, playground equipment galore. Quiet areas for walking or resting in the cool green grass, plus plenty of tables and barbecue pits for those family reunions.- advertisement from April 1974 for the then new Westpark neighborhood, developed by the Tenneco Company.
This is a nice, very quiet small neighborhood park. It is listed as an official dog park and has an early morning dog group that meets for coffee (bring you own drink of choice), camaraderie, and doggy fun.
Great dog park.
