Go to the Turtle Pond in the Spring or Fall. Take pictures and spend time with someone you love there. Turn a historically tragic place/event into a lovely memory. Thats how we can honor the dead & thats how we win. My father was 10 blocks away working on a house in west campus that infamous day while my mother worked at the Capitol. When he left for the day, there was a bullet in the tree next tio 3 my fathers truck that wasnt there when he arrived to work that morning. So go, turn sadness into happiness & love. If not for you, then do it for those who lost their lives to that mass murderer

The University Of Texas At Austin is one of the top public universities in the world. Because UT has over 50,000 students, its 100% possible for anyone to find their fit in the many clubs and organizations that the school has. Lets face it, you most likely already know about UT and the other top schools in the state of Texas and youre just reading this randomly. For the 1% who is reading this review in a hope to learn something about UT, Id highly recommend speaking with the UT counselors, and even scheduling a free tour of the campus. Also, you could reach out to UT, UT Sports, the UT President, or the UT Austin Tower on social media and talk to them - they are answering questions and are constantly interacting with people that are interested in UT Austin!Last but not least, if youre really thinking about attending UT Austin, be sure to check out a football game - theyre unbelievably fun and youll really get the feel for our Longhorn school spirit. Hook em!

Such a lovely campus, the buildings are beautiful and the UT Tower, so historic. It was so nice to take a slow drive all around the Tower and see it from all sides. It was 107° that day, so walking wasnt a option for me. Another Must See here in Texas.

WARNING: my rating is ACTUALLY 10 out of 10, but Google Maps is silly and only lets me rate 5 out of 5 like a wimp whos unsure if he actually had fun or not. Theres no question, I had fun. 10 out of 10.This is one of Austins many well known towers. My friends and I recently discovered it on a whim and it was a total blast! A real joy ride. I literally cant recommend it enough, its so tall -- thats something they dont tell you up front. I wish they were more upfront, but what can you do?Anyway, Austin has many great clock towers, if youre putting together a tour of them, Id suggest fitting this one in too. If you have the time. This is one of the only clock towers with the correct time though, so if you dont have a cell phone or wrist watch, Id recommend planning out your tour schedule to be around this tower during the part of the tour when youd actually need to tell the time. You dont want to lose track of time LOL! But really, get a watch if thats a problem JK ROFL!!Honestly, my biggest knock against this tower is theres no place super close to get frozen daiquiris to-go to quench that inevitable thirst youll work up from looking up so long -- its SO tall!! So DEFINITELY bring any and all items youd need to create your mixed drink of choice if youre hitting up this particular tower. I will warn you though, I am NOT a lawyer so dont consider this LEGAL advice. I would recommend consulting your personal family lawyer on retainer before engaging in any and all activities that may or may not be illegal -- youre paying for the hours anyways, might as well use em LOL ROFL!Full disclosure, directly after hitting this tower up, I went to another one just a stones throw from frozen daiquiris to-go, so I personally was able to dodge this legally dubious situation! I just pray to God that you are so lucky or, that your personal family lawyer on retainer says youre in the clear to sip on an ice cold, delicious bevy on the tower footsteps! Trust me, thats paradise. But again, this cannot be inferred, construed, assumed, or offered as legal advice of any kind. Plus, I am pretty busy with friends right now, so I am unavailable to be a witness or advisor in any legal proceedings or actions that may be taken against you from following anything that you inferred, construed or assumed what legal advice when in actuality, it was NONE of those things. So again, I do recommend consulting your personal family lawyer on retainer prior to going to this tower for any purpose or length of time whatsoever. So this tower was a roller coaster of emotions for sure, but just all the good ones -- love, fear (of having too much of a good time), joy, sadness (that you havent had this much fun in your life until now), peace, anger (that you havent come here earlier), excitement, etc! 10 out of 10 would recommend (even though if that breaks Google Maps algorithm for some reason!).Lastly, I cannot emphasize enough, I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.

The tower is overrated as a landmark of Austin. Nevertheless, the coolest things it does is it changes color sometimes at night for events and plays old music. It would be cooler if it played something besides Ive been working on the railroad all the live long day (I know it is supposed to be a UT anthem, but I didnt go here for undergraduate so I have the right to criticize).

Iconic views from all sides. But I have heard a rumor that it was designed by an architect who graduated from Rice... and that he intentionally designed it so that it would look like an own face when viewed from 45, 135, 225, and 315 degrees bearings... where the two clock faces from each of those perspectives form the eyes, and an ornamental structure at each corner forms the beak... with a graduation cap at the top of the head. If true... then very strange.

The UT Tower is an historic places. One of the first mass shootings on a college campus occurred here. The shooter was atop the tower and shot at targets of opportunity below. The tower was closed to visitors for many years. A few years ago, it was reopened. Reservations are required. The best time of the day to go is in the later part of the day when the strong sunlight illuminates the downtown buildings beautifully.
