My wife and I came here for a vacation this year and it was absolutely amazing. The weather wasnt overly cooperative but it was February after all. The event staff was more than helpful and always willing to point you in the right direction. Surprisingly the food and the merchandise was not over prices like my wife thought it would be. We will absolutely be going here again for more races.

We will have to come back and see this venue for a better event. Came today for the Hi Performance Expo 2020 Powered by OPTIMA and mainly to see the Cletus McFarland crew. Which we did get to do! At least a little bit lol. Leaving the starting line and from the overlook areas. As mentioned, this track is not laid out the best for this type of event. You get to view maybe about 2 seconds of each drivers run. Then off they go on the very long course. The other thing that kind of stunk was that nothing was open at the track. No restrooms (porta-potties only), no concessions to get a bottle of water or anything. Granted we did attend on a Monday, so maybe that was why - but the event ran till Tuesday. Was hard to know what was going on where without asking staff. The shuttle was helpful because it would be a hike to get to the couple different places events were. Only about 20-30 spectator cars parked at the main entrance. Very cool place it looked when it would be in full use. Huge! But this event was definitely more geared for just the competitors it seemed; which we didn’t really understand from the event description. Will try it again - but for a larger event like the MotoGP.

Was flying my Mavic around on a foggy sunrise to get some dramatic fly-in sequences, but lost connection and ended up at the top of the tower, UPSIDE DOWN! Fortunately, the security guard was kind enough to escort me to the top, so I could retrieve my aircraft. He wasnt able to unlock the elevator, so... 500+ steps to the top! Definitely not an easy climb, but that guard was a trooper! Hell probably never see this, but many thanks brother!

This was my first Formula One race, despite having been a fan for at least 20 years. COTA is a fantastic facility, and there are few people that have anything but nice things to say! Seating in the turn one grandstands was fantastic, and was turn 15.Next year though, I think Im going to opt for general admission. Something about relaxing in the grass is probably worth the little bit of a lack of viewing angle.Part of a small problem is the fencing around the circuit and the GA seating areas. Its difficult to get photos through the fencing, but the seats are obviously higher, so thats the way to go if youre into photography.Food options, despite the expected crazy prices, were really good. Enjoyed a Venezuelan place on Friday and Saturday, and tried a BBQ place for lunch on Sunday. Didnt need with the chain places, but they had a few.PA audio system was extremely loud in turn 15, but fine in other areas.Bring a small bag, a chair, and youll have an absolute blast. Just remember that there is next to no shade in most areas, so layer that sunscreen on!Also, I was very happy to see that the customer service tents had free sunscreen and earplugs.

Great place, if you could go in. Made my way there for this weekends race (GT3, GT-4, TC-R, TC, TC-A) after getting there, I was told I couldnt go in. City of Austin would not allow it. So we did not spend a cent in Austin after an unpleasant surprise. I didnt find anything at COTAs web page about it. Tried calling before heading over and nobody answered, just so we could avoid just that. Absolutely disgusted with COTA, even though its a wonderful track. I dont think they care. We watched the race on Youtube. Worst part was seeing people watching the race in the track without distancing or face coverings. Make your own opinion from this.

The track is awesome. It’s the only track I’ve been to so can’t really compare with any other F1 tracks. I had general admission tickets and there were so many spots on the track to get a good view of the race. My personal recommendation would be turn 1 and turn 11. From turn 1 you get a good view of the start/finish line as well as the pits, turn 2 as well, far away view of turns 16,17 & 18. You can watch the Saturday practice from turn 11 as well to get a feel of high speed straights. The shuttle service is great to pick up and drop off from diagonally opposite points.
