My first visit to the Georgia Capitol Building was on a beautiful day, to honor, and pay respects to one of the original Freedom Riders, who were integral in the fight for Civil Rights in the United States. John R. Lewis. The Boy from Troy, a Son of the South whose fight for equality fortunately and sadly never ended.

Very calm and well manicured part of the city. The gold roof is a signature of the city. There is absolutely no parking so take an Uber or Marta. There is a Marta station close by.

Absolutely beautiful building! The outer dome is beautiful, and inside is quite sophisticated. The interior rotunda and rooms give off very southern manor vibes. The tall columns, crown molding, and marble staircases are quite stately.

Repleat with Indiana limestone and garnished with beautiful Georgia marble this capitol dazzles with simplicity, and authenticity. Without exorbitant glitz the historic presence of Georgia is on display as typical of th he grand state of Georgia stands to represent the citizens the people who make Geogia stand with wisdom , justice and moderation.

Average experience. Nice outside but the inside was under construction. Also, the Senate and House of Representatives galleries were closed when I was there. I took pictures though the window but it wasnt the same. Museum was small but interesting. I would go only if it was your first time to Atlanta. The gift shop was also closed which was weird because it was a Friday afternoon at 1 P.M. They closed early without telling the capital people which caused me to walk across the street for nothing. Disappointing experience compared to other capital buildings like Denver CO.

This beautiful gold building is the Georgia State Capitol located in downtown Atlanta. It was built in 1889. Like many State Capitols and City Halls, this building too was designed to resemble the Neoclassical architectural style of the United States Capitol, in Washington, D.C.The gold dome was gilded with native gold leaf from near Dahlonega in Lumpkin County, where the first American gold rush occurred during the 1830s. The interior represents the 19th-century style and was among the earliest buildings to have elevators, centralized steam heat, and combination gas and electric lights. Classical pilasters and oak paneling are used throughout the building. The floors of the interior are marble from Pickens County, which still produces marble today.

Great free place to visit to learn about the history of GA. There are displays about the Civil War, Civil Rights, and the geology of GA. Architecture is amazing. Do keep in mind that it is a state capital building, so they look through your stuff like in the airport. It seems to be in a safe area and near a metro station.

Went on a self-guided tour. It was recommended to begin on the fourth floor and work our way down. The hallways are filled with glass cases showing aspects of Georgias past, growth, government, and state features. There is a smaller version of Lady Freedom within the building if your camera cant get a good shot of her at the top of the golden dome.

The Georgia State Capitol is a beautiful building that is very accessible to the citizens of Georgia. It has great stairways and hallways and you can talk to your Representative and/or Senator on most days when they are in session (The Session is 40 Days Long and is January through March).

Educational, interesting, and friendly employees. We visited the Capitol building on a Friday afternoon in January when there was nothing major going on. We parked a couple of blocks away in the Underground Atlanta garage and paid $12 for 2 hours. We had read the self-guided tour pamphlet before arriving, and we wandered around at our own pace. The person working inside the front office section of the Governor’s Office beckoned us inside and allowed us to go see inside the ceremonial office with its various mementos. She was very gracious, and the spaces had some interesting artwork and display items. We went into both the House chamber and the Senate Chamber and looked around a bit. Artwork throughout was enjoyable to see. The fourth floor museum display cases were interesting. My children (7 & 9) were ready to be done after a short time, but they learned something!Bring your government issued IDs and leave your pocketknives/multitools at home.

I give a 3 because the political parties and systems have gone way out of control with our free county. Which I feel we arent free because the voters dont rally to stop the gov. From inslaving all of us Americans in our own free county that shouldnt be under federal control and needs to kiss our voter butts.
