Wrens Nest host a variety of events on their lawn. One event in attendance was Jazz Matters. Jazz Matters was presented by Smooth Jazz 101.1 WJZA-FM and sponsored by George and Janice Andrews of Capital City Bank. The lawn is emmaculate and a could hold up to to 500 attendees. The event had various seating arrangements of formal 10-seat tables, park benches and BYOC (bring your own chair). Parking is available near the facility. Vendors were present. Three restroom stalls were available. The only night lighting was from stage, which was great if you were close. Attendees would have to bring some type of lighting apparatus for tables, etc. Duke Ellingtons presence will never evaporate in jazz and his renderings are timeless-great musicans were present. One of the event artists had mesmorized the crowd with Barry White, Teddy Pendergrass and Larry Graham.

August 16, 2019 was absolutely phenomenal I went there for a jazz concert it was so organized everyone was so friendly. You bring your own food your own beverages they provide you with the tables and chairs. You can bring your own chairs no umbrellas no tints of course if you do that people cant see the concert because of obstacles I do agree with that. My children are 35 and 37 now they grew up with me taking them to the Wrens Nest for storybook time we still have the books practically one called Uncle Remus. Thank you for a beautiful time at the Wrens Nest.I recommend if you havent gone there that you do. Look up and read the history.

Yes, you are at the right spot. No, this is not somebodys random family reunion We had a wonderful time here when the West End put on one of their candle light concerts with Eric Roberson performing. Walking into the Wrens Nest back yard really does look like your going to the cook-out at the family reunion, but thats all part of the charm. There is such a homey vibe here. I felt like I found a piece of true (old) Atlanta. I will definitely be back.

We went here for the Poe Experience but instructions were unclear and we missed part of the skits because of it. Although the actors were decent the writing could have used some work and the ad-lib didnt live up to expectations. It is fun for the atmosphere but the cost was too much for what we got.

Interesting history about Joel Chandler Harris, the writer who committed the Brer Rabbit stories to paper.Sad to see this museum struggling. They clearly need funding to catch up on their deferred maintenance.

A perfect hidden hidden gem in the West End area. Mom would take me there for story hour years ago, but now as a grown women I found Jazz Matters there. A place where friends and lovers gather for great music under the stars. A Amphitheater, bring your food, drinks and get ready to have a wonderful time.

I visited the Wren’s Nest for a class I am taking. I chose to visit there as opposed to the High or some of the other more well-known places on the list, and I am so glad I did! It was very interesting to see all of the original items in the house. Carla was who gave me the tour and even though it was only me, she provided me with every detail and spent just as much time with me as she would have had it been a large group. She was so awesome and made the experience even more great! If you go, hopefully Carla will be the one to give the tour!

We went for the Christmas Carol Experience, so different than your typical visit. The show was really great, intimate, interactive and fun. Highly recommend. You walk into/through most of the lower level rooms during the performance, but I was too involved in the activities to truly notice and appreciate the architecture of the home. Beware, the parking is very limited and mostly pea gravel, so you will have some ruts, mud and puddles if it has been raining. The house is basically in the middle of retail shops, so you have to keep your eyes peeled if the street is busy or at night. We look forward to going back in the day time.

I LOVED my experience! We had Curtis Richardson as our storyteller and he created such an amazing experience. The way he told the stories--with facial expressions and gestures-- really helped me to see each character. I especially loved how he changed his voice for them! When he voiced the water buffalo, I could visualize this immense animal, and when he did the hyena I could visualize that too. It reminded me of the Lion King! I absolutely loved that after our story we enjoyed a refreshingly informative tour. I sincerely appreciated our tour guide giving us all the wonderful details about life during the time Harris lived, as well as information regarding the houses cool furniture and architecture. I say cool because being in the same house, seeing the same furniture that existed and was used so long ago made me feel as though I had actually time traveled. The Wrens Nest is definitely a wonderful experience.

This was an interesting find in the historic West End neighborhood. The tour cost $5 and lasted for roughly 15 minutes. The tour is self guided with volunteers available to answer questions. It was great seeing a home built in the 1800s and seeing the home of a literary pioneer. All of the home is nit available to tour however what is available I found it to be sufficient. I would recommend this tour if you are in the area.

Attended the 105th annual holiday party. It was a great mix of history, music, storytelling etc. You will learn so much about the history of Joel Chandler Harris, author of the Uncle Remus tales. Much misaligned during recent years, his tales were actually quite instrumental in forging new ground in familiarizing cultures with each other in the post Civil War era. Google maps WILL NOT take you into the parking lot. Coming down Lowery into West End the driveway is immediately after the house. Basically when you see St Anthony of Paduas church on the left the house is half a block down on the left. It has a small parking area that is mostly dirt/grass. Keep this in mind in inclement weather!

The five-star rating is definitely true. Not just as a location thats worth visiting (it is), but when you learn more about the positive community impact that are making through various programs and involvement. The relatively young, very enthusiastic staff make this place an interesting juxtaposition of history with forward-thinking ideas.

This is one of many of Atlantas old early 20th century homes. This home once belonged to Uncle Remus, author of works like The Tar Baby and Brer Rabbit. This hone is now a museum and plays host to a number of events, including a Gatsby Lawn Party (which was the purpose of my visit).
