Great little spot to check out and get some visitor information. You can get maps for the surrounding areas for hikes and other sight seeing areas. They have a few displays inside to show you the history of the area. Its a beautiful drive to get there with stops on the side of the road to hike or walk your dog. Its a good plave to start your adventure.

Due to COVID, it was a challenge to enjoy the displays they are roped off, so you have to enjoy from a distance. Information was readily available. They also had a nice little gift shop. The rain prevented us from walking the grounds.

Visited on a weekday afternoon. The visitor center is closed due to COVID, so no restroom access. They do have Port-a-Johns available at the other end of the parking lot. There is still plenty of room to park, and walk around and stretch your legs safely. Everyone else who came by to do so observed social distancing.

This place was great! Easy to find, and open pretty much every day except major holidays (although we went on Easter Sunday and they were open, woot!). It was clean, very well organized, and aesthetically pleasing on the inside. It looks like there is a nice, easy trail around the center too but we did not get to explore that. There are nice bathrooms on both floors. There are two areas where very knowledgeable staff can walk you through the Parkway area and local maps. The woman we spoke with helped us plan our entire drive once we told her how much time we had and what we wanted to see! It was awesome. The Blue Ridge Parkway often has closures along the way so its very good to stop at your nearest visitor center first. Dont let the closures dissuade you, there is still plenty of parkway to explore even when parts of it are shut down. There is also a cute little gift shop on site, I highly recommend the printed map scarf. Enjoy your trip!

I purchased a metal sign of the Blue Ridge Parkway in February and the cashier in the front lobby told me she didn’t have a bag (?). I was there in the morning. I don’t recall her name, but she was tall, short brown hair and was in her 60’s. This cashier also behaved inappropriately as she blatantly made flirtatious remarks to my date. (?) Please train this desperate woman that her actions are rude and disrespectful.I then browsed through the center and was approached by an employee, questioning if I had paid for the metal plaque because I didn’t have a bag. I told her I had my receipt. I felt humiliated and angered and set up by the cashier.I am a retired high school principal and have the funds to pay. I am not a thief. This experience has troubled me and I felt compelled to inform management. Please address my concerns with your two employees on their rude and disrespectful behavior toward customers.

This is a great stop if you are looking for info about driving, hiking, biking or just hanging out on the blue ridge parkway. The folks in here will get set up for what ever your looking to do. We were able to add some more cancellation stamps to our nps passport. The bathrooms very very clean as was the entire place. Parking was easy even in a big 250 truck. Highly recommend a stop and pick up a souvenir to help support our national parks.@AdventureKrewe #SummerRoadTrip2019

Whatever you do don’t go within 15 minutes of closing time! Everyone was SO rude to me and my boyfriend. It wasn’t like we were taking our time; I simply wanted to purchase a sticker and two t-shirts. The cashier at the gift shop said, “You have one minute.” WOW. Obviously they don’t want the money so that’s on them. I love the Parkway but I drove 2.5 hours to get here, I’d like a pleasant experience even though it was close to closing.

This is my fav parking place to access an easy one mile hiking loop . Now that the weather is getting nicer, more people are coming here and the trails can be crowded (and loud). Today I was looking to do a meditative hike so I went inside to see where a more quiet trail nearby was. The woman I spoke with at the far right information desk was a wealth of knowledge and so helpful! She gave me a map and marked off some good trails. Before maki g suggestions she asked excellent probing questions like was I hiking alone, was it for meditating and my experience level. I did the trail she suggested and it is now my favorite hike . Love, love, love living off the parkway discovering new trails not far from my home From Webb Cove Road (north asheville) to here is less than 15 minutes
