If ever in the area of Asheville and needing to stretch the legs go here. It’s a beautiful place right by UNC of Asheville. It has great trails with good stopping places to sit to find peace and quiet. The day we went there was a gathering of people doing yoga in the meadow area. There are small bridges and streams that run throughout. What a treat to go there and get a little taste of nature while being so close to the little city.

Only stopped in for a short break, it was windier than I was prepared for. Its a cute little place with lots of potential. Sad to see the gift shop is closed because of COVID. I look forward to visiting again in spring when things begin to bloom!Good spot for a picnic, but beware: no dogs are allowed in the gardens at all.

Pretty nice place to visit. Has nice tree/plant markers for identification. Trail is short enough for a lunchtime walk. Will have to visit again in the spring time. Hopefully the visitor center will be open. Plenty of benches by the path and stream to sit and relax.

This area is absolutely beautiful any time of year but especially in the fall. My family has been taking our family photos for Christmas cards here since my sister and I were born. Also, as a photographer, I have photographed a wedding here, individual shoots, and family photoshoots. An area with so many different beautiful backdrops. Also, would be lovely for a romantic picnic.

Beautiful place for a short creekside hike or a picnic. Great spot in the city to come and reset. Lots of signs identifying the plants, nooks and crannies to explore or just sit and work on the laptop, sketch or set up a hammock and take a nap.

Ive been here twice and its such a nice visit year-round. While theres definitely more to see in the spring, its still a great walk in the fall or winter. And its free!! Made for a great date with my husband! There are a few different paths, some more rough than others, so you can choose how adventurous you want to be. The paths arent too long, but you can wind in and out of a few of them to make your walk longer. Loved my time here!

It unfortunately doesnt have a great amount of space. I expected more signage by trees along the trail I took that seemed to skirt the perimeter. Im sure the COVID19 has impacted them. Ill definitely try it again. It does look like a great place to meditate, do yoga or even a picnic.

I wouldnt necessarily call this botanical gardens. There really isnt anything that resembles an organized, maintained garden with signage about the plants or local connections, etc. Its really more a nature park with some large open fields and naturally-worn walking trails.

Minutes from downtown, a refreshing change of pace. Find an oasis of calm and immerse yourself in the native flora and fauna. Listen to birds chirping while you explore the creek, some bridges and a cabin. All for free! Be sure to visit the gift shop and either donate or purchase something to support this amazing volunteer-run place. The staff is very friendly and happy to chat. A good place to learn about local plants.

It is very peaceful, you can hear the sound of the creeks running through the gardens. Even if you are native here, or close by, this is a place to visit, to help identify the native plants. I have seen several different places that you can sit for a while, and would make great back ground for photos, and I havent made it all the way through the gardens yet. Have fun, enjoy, and take advantage of visiting the Botanical Gardens, in Asheville, NC

A few minutes from downtown Asheville, the Botanical Gardens are a great option for those who want to take a walk in the middle of nature and not want to waste time traveling. The Botanical Garden has a small trail, picnic area, and a small river - unfortunately the water is not safe for bathing. No entry fee is required, but you can always leave a contribution to help with maintenance. I recommend the visit.

Blink while you are travelling down WT Weaver Boulevard on the edge of UNC Asheville campus and you will miss a wonderful hidden gem. Free to the public (but donations greatly appreciated), is a small oasis for native birds, butterflies, plants that beautifully meanders beside a lovely creek and hillside. So close to the street that you can hear, but not see the cars going around the park. Delightfully surrounded by birds and birdsong, water babbling over rocks, and beautifully designed natural gardens, it is easy to forget the near by city. No dogs, sports or biking, but the paths are lovely, there are plenty of benches and little shaded resting spots.Great place to walk, picnic, play in the stream, bird watch paint, photograph.... Easy walking paths that are mostly flat.

A beautiful spot I used to love to visit - but its also looking a little run down & dangerous. The is still the ever constant pollution in the streams - oil slicks from runoff as well as glass/metal shards all over so wear shoes when creek stomping. One of the bridges has fallen into disrepair and is shut down but kids & teens still tend to try to balance & walk across on the hand rail beams. The Botanical Gardens powers that be should either remove or rebuild the bridge - but leaving it to rot is hazardous, as well as an eyesore.

Cool, serene, lush casual gardens of great beauty. Plenty of seating along the various paths you travel. Trees, flowers, rock features, and birds everywhere. Well cared for and a delight at each turn. Loved the stoneworks, the creek running down bedrock, the bird deck with a sunlit bird feeder to watch! Building was closed because of the Covid19 pandemic, and I didnt see a place for a donation. Guess well just have to join!

Very disappointed. Not what i expected at all. This place should not be called a botanical garden as it was very unkept and lots of overgrown weeds and grass. No flowers ...mostly tight dirt trails. Little to none usable benches and no swings. Cool creek tho but there were signs warning people not to wade in it as there was a potential sewage leak therefor the garden did smell weird. At least it’s free, I guess. Not worth the visit and i will not be back. I would go to the arboretum instead.

For such a tiny place it has a wonderful vibe and is packed full of native shrubs, perrinials and trees. Almost all labeled, and many in bloom now. Sweet creeks running all thru it with lovely bridges to cross or steps down to play in them. Most worthy of visiting. Recommend muchly.

Great paths, lots of benches, many plants are labelled, and there is even a tree there that grew from a seed that went to space on an Apollo mission. I just wish UNCAs administration would stop their deforestation of the campus in their effort to make the campus look more impressive and spend the money on the many thousands that it will reportedly take to rebuild the botanical gardens bridge that is out.

Great educational nature trail with a diverse assemblage of native plants. They do a really good job of labeling most plants so it is a good place to learn local flora.
