The Sandia Tram had an excellent guide during my visit. He pointed out many features along with an old plane wreck. The temperature changes a good bit and wind so be prepared. The restaurant at the base is excellent and there is an expansive gift shop.

This is easily one of my favorite places in the entire country. As an ABQ native, I love to enjoy the peak during the summer and in the winter. I was lucky enough to go up the tram on NYE and watch early fireworks going off around dinner time. Back in the day, it was fantastic to catch a cup of hot chocolate at the top. Highly recommend if you are in New Mexico. Make sure to check out the gift shop with big open windows to catch more views!

We hiked from the tramway trail head to the tram. It was a gorgeous hike, but pretty difficult. The fall leaves were turning and added so much splendor to the experience. The employees at the tram did a good job of keeping areas clean and socially distant. We waited about an hour for our tram, but this was to ensure everything was done with cleanliness and care. I appreciate that they wipe down all the railings inside the tram after every trip. It was a fun day, and I would recommend.

This is definitely an awesome way to see the mountain if you dont have time for the hike! It takes 15 minutes one way and the operator gave is a little background about the tram and the mountain as we ascended. Try to time it so you can see the sunset at the peak, and maybe stay a little longer to see Albuquerque at night!

It was wonderful experience and the Covid response was pretty good. Trams are operated at limited capacity at max of 15 persons one side with disinfection measures taken at each trip. The sight is very scenic.. Highly recommended... The staff is very friendly and offers guides and details on various spots on the way up to the top on the peak. Grab your coats as it can get quite windy and cold at the top.. Had a great time !!!

Sandia Was The Bomb!! Loved the ride up, scary yet exciting !! The bar up top was nice, gas domestic Budweiser on sale, thank God!! Restaurant was closed for sit down but you can still order food and take it outside. Plenty of wild life, squirrels running around getting snacks from humans ️️. You can go hiking if you like, the air is cool and fresh, I loved it!!! ️️️ I highly recommend going!!

The Sandia Peak Tramway is the longest in US, and it is amazing! The wait may be long, but it is definitely worth it. At the top, there is a bunch of sights, hiking trials, and beautiful landscapes to look at. There’s also a restaurant being built (not sure if it’s done yet). Totally worth to go to!

Though the views are beautiful and 99% of the staff was phenomenal, we stood in line for 90% of our visit. Im not sure if this is due to the current circumstances or is this normal. We also had people cut in line and we did our best to be patient. Not a ton of space to sit and the line area is most definitely not accessible friendly. Sunscreen and appropriate clothes for the weather is important.Bathrooms were clean.Social distancing not enforced.Overall just need to be ready for the experience.Management: my suggestion is sell tickets for slotted times. Your employees were great

Holy guacamole. Visited from Texas and it was one of our favorite stops. Hiking was enjoyable and the staff was really fun. Yeah they ride on top of the tram up and down the mountain. Please make that ride available for visitors!! We didnt visit the restaurant because we spent most of our time on the trails. Cant comment there but the Tramway was money well spent. We will have to come back. Memorable for sure.

So much fun! Its simply a beautiful view. The tram system is great. About every 15 minutes the 2 Tram system arrives to take a bunch of people. It really is effective and although waiting is never fun it moved efficiently. For 25 per person round trip I would easily do it again because the restaurant which will get its open review is phenomenal, but be prepared to wait because its extremely popular and you know its on top of a mountain. Its hard to recommend the ride to just go up and down but its still beautiful. Be aware they pack the tram really tight, if you dont like small enclosed places with no escape for 15 minutes, I highly dont recommend this. Otherwise the view at the top is gorgeous, its about 30 degrees colder up that high and windy so dress accordingly.

Lines are incredibly long right now which is understandable. Go very early and plan on waiting an hour on either side. Suggestion: give the operator a script of fun facts. Theyre not consistent and some statements are questionable - like advising tourists that the La Luz trail is fairly easy - its not a trail for people that arent used to hiking here (or anywhere).

When: I did this tram ride last year in early June.Temperature: I didnt need a whole lot of layers at the top but there was construction going on and the area around the tram was really all I had time to see. It was windy and as soon as the sun went down, I was happy I had my jacket.Time: I did it at sunset and I will say that I think that was the BEST time to go. The views were breathtaking and inspired me to create some art.Tram Ride: So smooth and fun but I recommend finding a place to hold onto something within the cabin. During start/pause/stop, it can cause the cabin to sway enough for me that I needed to grab something so I didnt fall into someone else. The altitude is something I have never experienced and was VERY noticeable. I have PTSD from a motorcycle accident which leaves me on a higher level of anxiousness than most and I had to call someone to talk me out of having a panic attack. I did make it to the top and it was worth it.Cons: I did get bit by mosquitoes. The construction obscured a lot in my opinion and caused me to not be able to really wander around.

We visited on 10/10/20 Saturday morning, 3 hour wait, we decided to come back later in the day around 6pm, waited 2 hours finally boarded the tram, It was quiet and very dark, freezing cold at the top and all the restaurants were closed except for the formal areas where u needed reservations, nothing to do other than see the city lights, which were quite beautiful. Was kept outside of the holding area in long lines waiting to board to go back down, was not offered any concessions like coffee or hot chocolate. I realize this is the COVID pandemic, but for goodness sake management please make changes, Poor experience.

Amazing views! Bring your hiking shoes. There are hiking trails at the top so dont go up expecting to do the usual photo op and head back down. Spend some time hiking down the Grand Enchantment trail. The views are amazing and you get a more I could fall off here and die feel than the high guardrail protected vista by the restaurant. Also, there is a nice undocumented view a short walk from the restaurant.Head down the red platforms by the ski lift and exit right. Follow the trail. You will come to what looks like a fenced off ledge. It is not really fenced off, just a staggered entrance to protect accidental meanderings off the ledge. Go through the gap in the fence and stand on the ledge. I included a pic with directions.Great place to propose! If she says yes you have a lasting memory. If she says no, a small nudge, and the rejection is only yours to know ;) Substitute she for he as needed.

Friendly staff offer tips about the mountain as you ride the aerial Tramway to the top of the mountain. Amazing views of the West face of the mountain and of the city below. Easy parking at the entrance to the Tramway. Frequent service with multiple flights per hour. Each flight is 15 minutes to the top of the mountain. A new restaurant and bar is being built at top of mountain and it should open by Fall 2019. Excellent food at restaurant and bar at base of tram. Wheelchair accessible facility including wooden observation decks at the top of the mountain. Also there is a small and free admission museum on the history of skiing in New Mexico, and the New Mexico ski Hall of Fame. The New Mexico skiing museum is located in one room at the base of the Tramway on the first floor of the Tramway terminal building. The Four Seasons Visitor Center at the top of the mountain has been recently renovated in the last 10 years and it has excellent views about the ski area on the east side of mountain as well as the city on the west side of mountain. A fun place to go with kids. Has excellent access to hiking trails in the National Forest.

Sandia Peak Tramway has long been a stable of the city of Albuquerque. It currently holds the record for being the second longest tramway in the world and it also hosts some incredible views.During my latest visit, I was pleased to see that everything was still running as smoothly as I remember. Ticket prices are $25 per person per round trip. Which isn’t terrible with all things considered. Two tram carts run opposite of each other going up and down the west facing side of the Sandias. The wait time for a tram to arrive is no more than 15 minutes. The boarding process is fairly simple and the cart has near 360 degree windows which allow for maximum viewing.Tour guides are present in each cart and spend some time informing visitors on both the history and the geography of the mountains. My tour guide was not only informative, but extraordinarily friendly. Which is always refreshing. The observatory at the top allows visitors to view everything to east of the mountains as far the eye can see. From there you can either take off on a hike or await for a tram to return and take you back down.Much like the tram itself, everything was running smoothly during my most recent trip. Tourists both domestic and foreign will appreciate not only the majesty of the mountains, but the efficiency in which Sandia Tramway is run. Definitely near the top of the list for any activity to do if visiting the city of Albuquerque.

At top there are nice walks and a restaurant coming later in August.Shop at foot of mountain had lots of interesting items. We went 9.30am mid week and not busy. The return journey was even quieter.First visit we were turned away as lift closed due to weather. Not evident from ABQ and it’s a long drive to find it shut - there could be a warning on approach road or on website. When we returned next day we were told it reopened 10 minutes after we were turned away. Maybe there is an app or FB or other that could be or is being used. Would be a nice quiet time to visit, shortly after reopened if you could find out.
