This is not closed!!! Its still there!!! Its just not marked!! Eastbound on Route 66 from Albuquerque just past Dead Mans Curve. It begins right after a Pass With Care sign. The rumble strips are just to the left of the white line on the passenger side of the car. We drove over it four times. So eerie but so insanely cool!!!!

IT IS THERE! There is a pattern of grooves after the Pass With Care sign. You need to be going East. It is hard to see when you are driving but it IS there. It’s barely left of the white line. You need to go 45 mph on the grooves. You need to get it perfect to hear it. But there is no signs showing the musical highway. It’s choppy but you can kinda heads it.

I when you drive East, there is still about 100 yards of music. Very short and not as good as it used to be, the road had been resurfaced and all of the signs have been removed.

Just drove off from there... it is NOT paved over, you just have to have your wheel just right! The song played beautifully for us... its not the whole song and yes the signs are down, but as long as you use Google Maps and remember it is between mile markers 4 and 6 right after the curve bridge you will be fine! If you miss it there is an easy turnaround right before the curve. Worth the detour in my opinion, I just wish the DOT understood how many people have waited years to do this and would put the signs back up!!

Very cool concept but very short too. Be great if it was revamped. I can check off my bucket list rhough.

Happened upon this rumble strip on accident and it took a few drives to catch the whole song and figure out what it is. Was surprised to find it on google maps so easily. Its awesome to hear but too short.

I have driven this road before and it used to be a good minute of fun outside of Albuquerque however they just recently repaved the road with new asphalt and you cannot hear the song at all unfortunately. This tourist attraction is no more. The sign that used to exist about driving 45 miles an hour if that were blue are no longer there either.

Went to drive there and found the sign removed and the musical ridges in the pavement were paved over! So sad. This was 9/22/20......another sad thing about 2020. Wondering why its gone??

It is still there! Its just past a pass with care sign. You have to get in right on the grooves on the road! Dont listen to the other people, go 45 mph and stay on the left side of the white line, you need to be going east.

The road may be new but you can still hear the song just perfectly! I sent a video back home and the family was amazed. Its not marked but the GPS was very accurate, we turned around once since we were on the wrong side of the highway and as soon as we found the groove it was easy from there! Dont listen to bad reviews try it for yourself!!

Follow Google Maps to get there. Youll drive over the strips with your right tire. Yes the road was recently sealed, but the strips still play the song. Fun little side trip on Route 66!

It was so cool! Did it today June 23rd! Could hear it clearly! It is between mile marker 4 and 6.

They have put a fresh coat of asphalt over the bumps so the music is barely audible. But still something cool and different to check out.

They must have changed it because we drove all the way out from Connecticut and could not hear it at all. So sad to get rid of a beautiful and unique attraction.

Very disappointed. We drove through the same area 3 times and heard almost nothing-about 2 seconds worth. What a cool concept it must have been at one time, but not anymore. Maintaining it would have been great, but I guess that might be why there werent any signs. Id remove them too. Not worth the detour...

So disappointed, we drove down the road it was supposed to be and looks like they redid the road and took out what once was. Something so fascinating and they do away with it. GOD BLESS AMERICA

You have to be going 45 mph or it doesnt work. (You also have to be right on the rumble strips, and there cant be too much sand or dirt on them).

Two years ago, it seemed to work, but last week it was so faint, you could hardly hear it.

They have since removed the signs. And it is worn out, there is no funding to fix this and so it is what it is. But its sad.

This was cool to hear but very short so not worth it. There were no signs indicating where it was and the rumble strips were so hard to see. We missed it the first time and turning around was a huge hassle. We found them on the second try but were very disappointed. If you have to go that way anyway it’s worth trying to hear this but if you miss it the firs time, it’s not worth turning around for.

Whomsoever came up with this idea is a genius. I dont know why there arent spots like this all over the country with all sorts of different songs. This song is great but Get your kicks on Route 66 would have been awesome as well attracted tourists.

The sign says drive 45 to hear the road sing. It sounds better at 50 miles per hour. The speed limit through there is 55 so you were still in safe area of speedIt is only heading east aim for the rumble strip and you can hear the road play America the beautiful.

Its really cool once you find it, but honestly I found it accidentally and it startled me bcuz I didnt realize what it was. Its not easily marked and if you dont get your tires on it just right youll miss it. If there was a way to mark it then that would be better.

Thin strip that you need to keep your tire on when headed NE — not the complete song and it was kinda quiet compared to other Musical roads we have been on — Thought America the Beautiful on Route 66 would be better...

OK, its just a strip of road. Theres nothing there to look at, no shops, and if youre not looking for the sign you will miss it. I highly recommend you use cruise control, we were in a Silverado without cruise control and it was hard to watch the speedometer and keep the tires on the rumble strip. This was on my Bucket List and Im so glad we did it, on the way to our destination and a week later, on the way home. Its worth the experience to hear!
