Our Albuquerque zoo is one of the best I. The country. I’ve traveled around the US and visited many different zoos and aquariums and this one is amongst the best ! Even tho some attractions were closed due to Covid we still had a great time . I was surprised with all the renovations they have done to the place but I was a little surprised to see they got rid of the train rails ?? Does it means there will be no more train rides around the zoo?? We shall see

I have been to a lot of zoos around the country and a few zoos overseas and Albuquerque zoo is definitely still one of my favorites. yeah Im born here and may have a slight bias, but this place really does feel natural and spacious. The elephant exhibit is amazing. there are bats and koalas and a really nice park that you can sit and have a picnic in. theres even a place that sells beer! The big cat walk is so cool and now there are penguins! I love the ABQ bio park I am so glad it is open again and I definitely recommend people coming here to have a very enjoyable time

I like the ABQ zoo. Its really fun for the kids. My 2 year old LOVES the duck and fish pond. They have a playground as well which is really nice. Im not sure when they started selling alcohol but they offer cocktails and beer now. Overall, its a good time. The only complaint I have is that the elephants are always put away in the back of their enclosure. I havent been able to see the elephants for years because of this and theyre my favorite.

We recently went to the BioPark during this covid madness with our kids and grandkids, what a great day! They are doing such a great job through all this craziness! First day getting back to the zoo after it closed for a couple months. It was surprisingly really nice, the animals were active and you could tell they were really happy to see more people. They did awesome setting up the park for covid safe. There wasnt a lot of people and it was nice to visit the zoo without the crowds. One thing I wish I would have seen more of the workers out wiping down all the arm rails. Overall it was a really good experience thank you

First time back since everything closed for covid. While all the indoor exhibits are closed, the bulk of the zoo is accessible along the marked path through. Everything is really clean and they look to be taking extra care to keep visitors safe.BUT bring your own water bottle, all drinking fountains are closed. Masks are required (like all public areas right now) and you have to reserve a ticket ahead of time.Edited to add. If you have a membership you can reserve a ticket for free, if not tickets are the regular ticket price to reserve. But tickets are limited, do NOT wait until the day of to try to get one!

Went shortly after they opened during the pandemic and there were parts that we werent able to see (of course it was the Australia area, with the Wombat and the Tasmanian Devil, which I really wanted to see). The parts we were able to see were a mix of really nice exhibits and really outdated cage-style enclosures. Overall though, an above-average zoo.

This is one of the best zoos I’ve been to! The zoo is SO clean and nice, the animals don’t look depressed. There is SO much to do and look at here. I love that they have the grassy area in the middle for you to picnic, and that they let you bring your own food! I would 100% recommend bringing your own food, as the zoo food was extremely over priced for the quality.

The zoo was so much fun. None of the indoor attractions were open and yet we still had a great time. The walking path they have set up takes you all the way around the zoo and you get to see all the outdoor exhibits. I hope they keep those arrows up from now on. Its amazing how many times Ive gone to the zoo and missed things because of the way we just wandered around. They do a great job of limiting crowds as you have to purchase your tickets in advance and youre not allowed in unless you do that. All in all it was a great time.

Our zoo is the best! Weve been members for a long time but we hadnt been in a year or so due to some health issues. Its been over 15yrs since i have been to the zoo. I know that anything in the pandemic is hard. But i have to say, this was the most pleasant experience. The crowds were small. Everyone wore a mask or kept their distance with no issue. The way its set up is perfect for keeping the flow. Im an amateur photographer and had plenty of time to photograph the aimals without feeling like i was in other peoples way. The other patrons were wearing masks and being so kind. We all helped each other see the animals without invading space. So many cute babies there to enjoy the zoo for the first time! And safely! I visited all of the bathrooms (it was hot so lots of water + a small bladder!!) And they were the cleanest facilities in all of Albuquerque so far. Paper straws in our drinks and friendly mask-clad staff throughout. The animals were all lazy and sleeping but thats no ones fault. There were dozens of hand sanitizer stations throughout the entire zoo. Some have regarded the animls as depressed but they all just seemed to be suffering the same heat induced sleepiness as the rest of us New Mexicans. Please see the meerkat. He will come out and pose for you!!

I drive over an hour to get to the zoo, please remember that I am traveling cross-country with my husband whom is disabled he has cerebral palsy and epilepsy so trips are fun. so we decided to drive over an hour to get to the zoo to spend the day and I am told at the window sorry dont know what to tell you if you do not know how to work a computer then I dont know what to tell you. seriously that much disrespect from someone at a ticket booth. I found this on a list of best things to do in Albuquerque with kids, and it was nice that I had an affiliate zoo membership as well from my own zoo, so we got 50% off. This was one of the best zoos Ive been to. It probably helped that we went on a weekday when it was a moderate temperature, so it wasnt at all crowded and many of the animals were out playing instead of hiding. We did the combo pass and stayed from 9:45am until closing (5pm) and didnt have time to see everything because we spent too much time in the morning watching the polar bear and the monkeys play, and then at 2pm the aquarium was feeding the fish, sharks, and stingrays, and we spent quite a while watching that. We missed most of the botanical gardens, and the gorillas. I would definitely go back to see the rest! I had four kids with me, and they did not get bored.

We LOVE the Zoo!Our family purchases a Yearly Family Pass every year and it is SO worth it.The Zoo is awesome. The new penguin exhibit is amazing. I like that they have been really trying to update all the exhibits to make this zoo a fun and educational experience. The exhibits looks more environmental instead of just the animal inside of a cage or pit (like it was when I was growing up). They are really expanding everything to make the presentations open.I see a lot of people on other reviews complaining about the price of the food. I get it; there is a significant up-charge because of the convenience. HOWEVER, The BioPark - Zoo graciously allows you bring in your own food AND eat it on the premises. You can have a picnic in the grass area or even take your food inside their eatery. So hey complainers, just do that if you dont want to pay high prices for on-site concession.

This is a neat little place to visit. It is not as big as some zoos that I have been to in the past, but they pack a lot into a small space! There are a great deal of large cats: lions, tigers, jaguars, etc. and they have a wide variety of reptiles and birds as well. The walk is quite pleasant in the morning, however, as with any zoo in the summer time the best time to go is in the morning before it gets too hot! The food was pretty good at the cafe in the middle of the park, they have sandwiches, pizza, burgers, salads, etc. A little pricey for what you get but not too extravagant; and I saw many people bringing their own picnics if you are into that as well. They also have an ice cream and slushy shop right beside the cafe for a tasty treat after lunch, so yummy! I would definitely recommend getting a family, couple or individual year pass as it is a great value if you are going to visit the park or aquarium more than just once in a year and you get half off many other zoos around the US with the pass as well! All in all it is a great little adventure out for the day with tons to see!

A good portion of the park was closed due to renovation which really should have been stated up front. Many of the animals were not available to visit. Many of the ones we did see displayed anxious or depressed behavior. For example, an adolescent giraffe had been separated from the rest of its family.. the mother and sibling were frantically attempting to reach it. Pacing back and forth, attempting to get over, under or around the fence. The gorillas sat alone staring at the ground fidgeting with their hands occasionally looking up at people only to turn back to the ground. The pictures speak for themselves really. Most animals had been segregated away from other animals of its kind and the enclosures were quite small. I left feeling quite sad
