$3 for parking, but with great views of the mountains and shady walking trails. In the fall there are lots of birds to see who are migrating south, as well as the changing colors of the towering cottonwood trees.

We loved it! Took the family for an hour or so before lunch. There were tons of turtles, ducks, hummingbirds, and critters to see! We also had a fun time inside the nature center. We were surprised to find a little area just for the kids that included activities that involved nature. My 20mo and 5yr old had a good time. There are also trails to walk and ride bikes.

I took my 6 and 8 year old here for a morning guided bird walk. The staff was extremely accommodating and allowed each of us to borrow binoculars. They were all extremely knowledgeable and friendly as well... the kids and I all had a great time and can’t wait to come back in the summer again.

This is a super fun place to visit! Honestly, not great views of the river, but the rest of the park is amazing. The visitor center has a lot of interactive learning opportunities as well as a place to sit and watch animals in a pond as well as bird feeders. We saw tons of birds, squirrels, small fish, geese, ducks and chicks, and turtles. There are also some walking/running paths beyond the visitor center. Many of the paths have plants and flowers labeled with what they are. The rest of the paths lead back through a Bosque area that takes you down to the river. The paths are all dirt or sand, so choose your shoes accordingly. The trails also lead to a long bike path that goes along the river. This would be a great place to bring young children and families for a walk and to learn about nature.

Free park with multiple activities available. Parking inside park is 3$. The welcome center has bathrooms which are clean, and friendly staff ready to answer any quesrions you have. There is also a pond viewing area which appears to have a lot of turtles in view as well as a few geese. Bookstore is available to peruse and gain some knowledge. My group took a modified aldo leopold loop which was quite pleasant, only complaints were the vast amounts of horse poop on the trail.

The Rio grande nature center is a great place to take a leisurely stroll to look at birds or to sit inside and look over the pond observing birds and other wildlife, very low-key. This is a great place for so bring your camera. I wish Albuquerque could give the center some money somehow to freshen the place up . The staff are very knowledgeable about the Bosque and local wildlife and can help you identify and birds etc. You might see. if you want to explore further there is a walk that connects to the Bosque and the bike trail. Nature Center itself was an interpretive center on the edge of a marsh. There are concrete walls with view holes, so we could observe the wildlife without disturbing them, which meant they came very close. Elsewhere there was a fully accessible viewing site where we could watch sandhill cranes and geese in the field. There was an education section on butterflies and bees. A fabulous spot for nature lovers of all ages.

My family and I love the Nature Center. Its $3 to park in the lot and you can usually get a nice shady spot. The trails and visitor center are great. The staff is very friendly and all seem to really enjoy being there. I once was dropping of my son there for a field trip and the ranger asked if I paid for parking, which I didnt bc I was just dropping off. He was kind enough to tell me another ranger would be around in half an hour to check parking passes. Gold star in my book!
