We ran out of time to go inside the Albuquerque Museum, but we took pictures on the outside, it is beautifully kept. We mainly went around Old Town I didnt realize how many stores are actually there. Everywhere we went was so friendly. My main goal was to see the Rattlesnake Museum. It is nice and to me worth the price. They have videos teaching you about them. The church was pretty inside.

10/1/19: Excellent museum! Inclusive. Native, Mexican, Spanish, & even Japanese! They have a small room focusing on the Japanese internment camps in NM & about the Japanese history in NM. It was fascinating! Nice organized informative displays throughout. I learned so much today. They have letters written by Jessie James! I enjoyed this museum very much. The museum is laid out well. Free admission if you have ROAM, which I have due to being a member of The Asian Art Museum in SF, CA.

This place is really neat to see art and learn about the heritage of this area. I was heading to old Town and passed by this place and got caught up looking at the outside art gardens. My next visit to this place is to visit the inside, but if the outside was interesting the inside must be comparable.

Went to Jim Hensons exhibition imagination unlimited with my daughter. What a great exhibition. It was both entertaining and informative. Jim Henson did so many things that I had no idea he had and was happy to learn. It was so wonderful to have had his characters in my life time and so many years later in my daughters life. If you get a chance to see this exhibit it runs tell April 19th. Hope you get a chance to experience it.

Went in for the Jim Henson exhibit and it was exceptional. Overall, there is a unique collection(s) of art, from kitsch or Americana to traditional pieces, as well as a wonderful amount of local history. Ill definitely be going back, especially with the free admission days! The reason I gave this a 4/5 is that there was no map or explanation given for the rest of the museum beyond where the doors were for the Henson exhibit. And, at no time could we find a docent for further information or to answer questions. It was frustrating to not have any idea of what was where or anyone to explain some of the, obviously, carefully chosen pieces. Having been to other museums in ABQ that seem to take pride in face-to-face education about their work, it was surprising that it was missing here.

Great Museum: the exhibits are spectacular. The history of albuquerque is great! Lots of one of a kind objects and plenty of details within written panels. It is spectacular: lots of color and great lighting. All of the exhibits are great: there is plenty of space and the art is placed on the walls in ways that prevents cluttering. Lots of cool New Mexico authentic art including a Georgia OKeefe. One think I would like to see in the new mexico art exhibit would be something by R.C. Gorman. This museum also features a cafe and gift shop both of which feature awesome products. The grounds are very well kept and parking is very convenient. Handicap parking is also available. This museum borders Historic Old Town Abq as well as a great Park with lots of space as well as play equipment and Spin electric scooter rentals. Overall a great experience. Great for a relaxing experience when alone or for a family visit. :-)). Great museum that celebrates the rich culture of Albuqerque and the southwest.

I visited for the first time to see the Jim Henson exhibit. The exhibit was great!Walking around the other museum exhibits was interesting. There was a lot of local art to check out and some not-so-local items. Price is not bad at all. More of an adult only museum. Might be best to warn parents about that before they come in with their strollers full of toddlers and 5 year olds - even the security guards seemed very annoyed with the kids running around unattended to.

My 12-year old daughter and I went to see the Jim Henson exhibit at the Albuquerque Museum on a Sunday, which is free day for New Mexico residents. We had a fabulous time! The exhibit was well curated so as to move the flow of people through the story of his life and work in a bright, informative and engaging way without feeling crowded or rushed. My daughter got to design her own muppet with video prompting as to when each turn is over, so the wait was not unbearable. There was a photo opportunity in a Muppet set up, which we did, but I had the thought that this point could have been a great business opportunity for the museum to post a photo attendant with a photo for a fee. Instead, I tapped another museum goer to take our photo in exchange for taking their photo, which worked well, too! We visited a couple other gallery rooms after the Jim Henson exhibit; they were ok... good signage with backstory on each artist, but not very dynamic. Theres a neat aerial map of Albuquerque on the floor that you can walk in to find where you live. Its too bad there wasnt a computer hooked up to it so you could type in an address and it lit up. It was still fun trying to orient and find our route from home to school even without additional technology! The real draw for us was Jim Henson and that is definitely worth taking time to visit!

Was a real treat reliving my childhood while enjoying the Jim Henson exhibit at the Albuquerque Museum. So many memories all wrapped up in one show it was amazing. And the costumes from the Labyrinth movie that David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly wore were the cherry on the ice cream sundae! It had been many years since I have been to the museum, and they have remodeled it. The finished product is refreshing and nicely modern. It was a breath of fresh air. There was also a very good video on the life of Chester Nez, the Navajo Code talker. The unsung heros, who tend to go unnoticed in the daily hoopla of hollywood heros of todays youth. Yes, Albuquerque Museum, you have really taken advantage of all our tax dollars. Its about time.

Another surprisingly wonderful place in Albuquerque. There is currently a Jim Henson exhibit there, which was fantastic (especially so for someone who grew up with Sesame Street and the Muppet Show). The art galleries are also very nice, not big city size and quality, but gives you a pretty good selection of art of the southwest. I recommend setting aside several hours on a couple occasions to get a good overview of what they have to offer.

I am not much of a museum-goer but I have been looking forward to seeing the Jim Henson Exhibit.I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The exhibit was well laid out with a nice selection of props, Muppets, historical details and behind the scenes information that literally spanned his life and career. There is something on display for all ages.I meandered through the rest of the museum exhibits after my trip down memory lane with the Muppets. The other exhibits are well worth your time, and do take the time to peruse the current exhibits. From historical displays of the New Mexico culture and works by New Mexican artists or about their perspective of the people and landscape, there are some really amazing works in display. If you are a relatively new New Mexican, like myself, you owe it to yourself to visit the Resources exhibit as well as the Let the Sun Shine In display focusing on Albuquerque in the late 1960s. It was groovy, man!The second best $10 (5 for general admission and another 5 for the Jim Henson Exhibit) I have spent in a while. The parking is free and adequate and the campus itself is a living exhibit.Take the ti e to visit if you havent.

02.16.20Always an experience at an art museum. Although it is not specifically labled an art museum (it used to be, years ago) the focus is art, local & regional historical/cultural.Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder as much of current (modern) cultural/historical art is impressionistic and usually not much better presented than kindergarten craft. True art takes talent, training, and effort, not just a personal expression of an internal perversion of perspective . . .
