Some of players are not exactly pleasant to be around Ive had strangers approach me asking for $ and or cigarette. Dont get me wrong, Im the crazy lady holding up traffic as I look for $ to give the homeless vet at the off ramps.But asking for a buck or two at the casino is CROSSING THE LINE.On the bright side, the people who work at the Downs are amazing. Friendly, polite, patient and honest. They do I great job

This is a beautiful track with an amazing view. I dont gamble but my husband and his father do.... this is one of the few tracks I dont mind going along to. Doesnt get much better than this view. There is plenty of seating here and the wait staff does a great job as well.

Review is for the racetrack itself. Very clean, decent facilty adjacent to the casino. Has an abundance of TVs and betting machines. Nice bar in the back as well. Overall Id rate it at a 4.5.

We are regulars here and the service has gone down hill drastically in the last few years. Food court food is usually out of date on their desserts and service is spotty at best. The crown room did a bait and switch on their Valentines day menu and it was horrible. The food advertised was not what we were brought and it was not up to par. The valet parking is a joke. We waited for upwards of 15 minutes just to get someone to park the car. The 2 people on staff were way out in the lot and security department had no way to contact them. They need walkie talkies or a better idea of what their job is and how to do it. The first turn lounge is a good place to get a beer if they wait on you. Regulars here for 5 plus years and I have to say that they need to get their act together and clean house of the dead weight.

This place is always fun to stop at when in the area with some time to kill. It can be a little smokey at times, but thats how I like my casino experiences. The complimentary coffee is always an added plus. The video blackjack and video roulette are fun, affordable and a great way to practice if you dont like traditional table games.

I have won in here a lot more than the other casinos in the area. However the clientele can be very sketchy and intimidating. The bar is great though and has big local bands on the weekends. Great dancing, and service. They are nice to you if you are nice to them. Seen more fights here than other places too, then again, I dont typically go to places with this many people. Chill environment and great bar to watch sports in.

I go there quite often and I enjoy the time I spend there, till the time I leave. I have a good time. The staff r very friendly, there are plenty of Slot Machines to play so there is never a wait. Parking is rarely packed which is nice for those who have possible medical problems with walking. There are plenty of Handicapped spots. Give it a try, you wont b disappointed.

I win in here all the time though and I can honestly say that I have won more than I have lost at the downs. The lounge is a great place to watch the game as the bartenders are excellent and make really good drinks at a good price. The place is old and dirty. Most of their clientele are frightening and you shouldnt wear flip flops or sandals because of the needles that could be laying around the parking lot. Great live bands on the weekends.

The atmosphere is very security tight, likely since it is the only casino in the area accessible by local bus lines. Therefore the folks that frequent the casino tend to be a little seedy. The racetrack is very different. The usual crowd there tends toward well-dressed, polite Mexican and Spanish crowds. And the horses themselves, awesome to watch.

This slots warehouse is limited, if you like horse racing action, this is the place for you. As far as gaming variety it is pretty much a slots warehouse, of course there is a bar, buffet, and restaurant. Warehouse is my definition of the Casino.

Its not too big but has lots of neat machines to play. Food is good and they have a good valet. Staff is friendly

I like the old grandstands better. The new one has a very.....cheap feel to it. For instance, all the beer girls selling bottles of Bud and Coors light are set up on card tables. It is also very hot now that the majority of the building is open air. All the employees were great and the horses/betting was just as fun as the old one.

If you wont mind the smoke from the cigarettes in the low class casino next door. The staff was awsome an the place looked great ...but we left after one drink . So if dinner was great I cant say because of the cigarettes.

Fun to go bet on the horses but the downs itself is trashy inside. I wish the state would spend some money to clean it up some. The snack food is horrible. I guess if you paid more money to go to the club, it would be better. People can smoke in here since its a gambling area so if you dont like smoke, be forewarned!I do love the grandstand and outdoor areas where you can purchase a drink and watch the horses. Thats the fun part.

Needs more options for kids. Horse racing needs a better draw, like live music and face painting. Perhaps a car show to draw a diverse crowd.

The bar was crowded and had live music. The casino was full and a little generous to me as well. The staff was very professional and courteous. Big improvement since my last visit over a year and. Recommended.

No tables with actual dealers. Just one big adult arcade. It does have a bar, restaurant, and a cafeteria style eatery. The live horse races are pretty cool but its a walk from the main casino bldg.

Relative to the other casinos in Albuquerque, The Downs is pretty small regarding the square footage, the amount of slot machines and their variety, and table games. They dont have a real roulette table but do have a moderate amount of blackjack tables. The overall atmosphere is a bit outdated. As for the crowd that is a bit of a melting pot to say the least. Lastly make sure you have a valid identification because If not your night will end very quickly.

Its been a year since my 1st post , place has gotten much worse at repairing games, many many of the games dont work or buttons dont function, I spoke to several floor managers , always the same excuse , parts hard to come by, working on it, or I will note that , as the service techs just walk around all day like zombies. If they cant afford to fix the machines you can be sure they wont have very loose slots. be very careful at night in the parking lots , a lot of activity going on in and out of vehicles, security just drives by . There are much better options for casinos .

This casino has slots and a eating place. Also has a small bar dance area where they have events and such.. the only problem is the bathrooms. They are always clogged, messy, and most of the toiets flush Everything down in one flush.Other than that security and the employees are pretty much on point.

The casino is a bit cramped. a lot of the machines were out of order. the drinks at the soda/coffee station were prefilled by a couple of women just standing there talking. I asked for a coke and had to take her word for it that the cup with a lid already on it was what I wanted. there is lots of security which is great because the neighborhood is sketchy. to get into the rewards club you have to be there before 9pm

Too much cigarette smoke, no circulation! Not so friendly people working the front podium. They did not greet us when we entered the casino. Our very first time so I was disappointed. Smile and greet your customers, it makes a HUGE difference! Happy New Year

My family enjoys the downs racetrack. Its one of our favorite family outings. My spouse and I enjoy their casino when were child free. Its smaller than other casinos but the wins and selection are decent enough. They do offer free play and other special promos. The bar area is usually quiet on a weekday. They are quick with orders and the food is pretty good. Restrooms are pretty clean and so far I have no complaint to share.

The casino is fun. At least you have a chance to win with minimal bets (not like the casinos on reservations- where you dont win much). Went to eat at their cafe and the food was cooked fresh (not under a heat lamp) and it was tasty.

That was an okay place, play slots and the floss what kind of interesting, the table games done with electronic dealers I thought that was interesting. I thought it was cool that you can get involved in another game while playing the game, sometimes she will get a pop up a slot machine after playing a certain amount of time and you get an opportunity to win FreePlay. it was kind of a neat concept I havent run into that before

They did a great job on renovations and the open air grandstand is awesome for summer night races. Its a cool way to hangout without having to spend too much. Betting on races can be pretty inexpensive, dollar bets and still feel invested in the outcome.

The Downs Casino is now my favorite casino that I visit. I go on Fridays because that’s when “seniors “ over fifty get a free spin for slot play. The least you can get is $5.00 but can get up to $25.00. If I’m not mistaken they have changed the machines up as there are a lot of new ones and ones that are less expensive to play. My favorites are the 10¢ Keno machines where I usually end up being able to play for quite a long time.They have assorted places to eat but only tried the one place where it’s kind of self-serve. I got a slice of meat lovers pizza that was loaded with toppings and definitely worth the few dollars they charged. They also have a lounge area where they have live music but again I go there to play the machines not listen to music. In conclusion if you just like to play the slots and not spend a lot of money The Downs is a fantastic place to visit.I went tonight and played on the triple play machine because you can cover all the lines for 9¢. Again I’m not the high roller. I usually go with 18¢ and occasionally 45¢. Last week on only 18¢ I hit $66.00 which made my day. I usually get change or cash out at the teller window and I’ve notice one guy that works as the manager I believe.Every time he is there the whole operation runs so smooth. He is the most professional employee there as he is always keeping an eye out for wrong doings and just makes me feel a lot safer there when cashing out. Tonight I complimented him and his his work ethics and got his name so I can let his supervisors know what a outstanding employee they have. His name is Anthony C. and I believe he must work every Friday night. Anyway this man is fantastic and is just another reason The Downs is my favorite casino.

Much better casinos out of town! Went and got my membership card, went to the machines and the card would not work. I was supposed to get some free play, but they were happy just to take my $20 and not fix the problem. Pass on this place. Youve been warned!

I visit The Downs Cafe and get their Albuquerque Turkey sandwich that is the best in town - and their fries that come with it are super good!

The live racetrack is seasonal otherwise its all OTB, and the casino is slots only gaming which isnt really my thing. the bar and lounge are the best part about this place and they throw some pretty big party events here throughout the year.

The Downs is a good place to relax, and Gamble on a budget. It has old and new machines, theres no dealer tables because, its a State Run Casino.But, you can beat on the horses, and play machines. It has a bar and two restaurants.Its a brand new facility, and easy going atmosphere.

Dinner was awesome. Quality of food and service was worth the money. Good atmosphere. Experienced staff. Played the shots for fun, but not even a small payout to encourage continued play.

The music is too loud and not set for the average customer. Whoever is choosing the music has no idea of its customers age. Soft rock would be better than some of the head banging music they sometimes play. This is what keeps me away from the downs and most of my friends. Sorry. Some of the machines are set not to give a single bonus even after spending 20 or 40 dollars. That is no fun. I liked getting called for free play. That makes it good but the free play gave no return even to keep playing. Ii lost all my money and the free play and had little fun. The music choices make it worse. Ill go back but will not stay long. Opening the machines up will help. The customer service is great the workers really want to assist. Thank you.

Went with my friend that lives here now. She wanted to bring me here since we occasionally like to visit the casino for fun and entertainment. It was okay, we both got our first time house credits and played for about an hour and won our money back. I had fun, but had a flight to catch so cut it short, will probably go back if ever in Albuquerque again.

The crowd is a little rough and staff does its best to make the average person feel home. The games are in bad shape and seem like half are broken. As for winning eh probably not.

It was a great experience. I had not been there since the renovation,and a friend and I went there to have Thanksgiving dinner. Great food, a good bang for the buck. A nice bar as well, and nightly music that must be good upon seeing the professional stage and PA that I saw. A vast array of gambling machines, but a great place to go even if you do not gamble. But I do love video poker...

Fast delicious snack bar with outstanding service. Easy to read booklets. Lines move fast when placing bets. Same when payouts occur. Bartender very knowledgeable of (non alcoholic) menue and friendly. My party and I had a wonderful expierence at this facility.

Went to listen and dance to the band Tequila Rain.... theyre a variety band and theyre great...had an awesome time

Nice place. I was surprised the horse race distance was so short. Not used to that. The casino was not good because they pump a perfume smell into it and it gave me a headache. Lasted 5 minutes.

Staff was friendly, but the snacks at one of the concession stands... inconsistent. Last time the “fresh hot” popcorn was neither fresh nor hot, and the week before that the chips in the nachos were stale. Nothing worse than stale chips... well maybe that’s not exactly true. Having your winning horse be declared not the winner after coming in first on a $5 bet is worse... and lots of other things. Just would be a good idea if someone tasted the foods that are stored or looked at the expiration date on the foods people are eating or giving to their kids. To be fair, the snacks are good on occasion... though my money is good 100% of the time, and I think the food should be as well.

It is extremely small in there but I enjoy the machines I had a great time and I like to take friends. Next time I go Im going to bring a lot more money so I can win a lot more I really enjoyed myself and so did my coworkers. I suggest the food in the small food store because the prices are great and the wait staff is lovely. They do have a great variety of slot machines some of them are even like video games staff is wonderful they walk around with drinks and its great to dance and have karaoke on Tuesday nights.

We have date night on Fridays, its nice to eat dinner here, you can choose extrema fancy dinner, or semi fancy still with a complete waitress, or order your own food at the counter and they bring it out to you. The racetrack has an amazing view of the Sandia Mountains and Horses, and even enjoy drinks and food of all kinds, and kids can all play together in a side yard with grass

I only come here when my favorite band is playing here. Great place to have a great girls night out

The winning was good but the crowd there was rough! Drug deals. Tweakers all over. I got offered dope which finally made me leave. Security was thick as was cops so at least that was good.

Hadnt been here in approx 6 months. They have alot of new machines. The new machines are a quasi hybrid of the new electronic with the old school 1s with the actual spinning reels. This casino is always clean & generally has some open slots. The 1 improvement would be the addition of roaming beverage servers.

The new building is a much nicer place and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

This is the most convenient casino by location. It was giving me the downs but now its giving me the ups!! Not a big place but a happy face! We love the downs and will always continue to go there.

Security always fallows you around, making you feel uncomfortable and then the slots machines never pay.

Fun close to home! I like that this casino is in the city and is always clean. The venue is smaller than the other casinos on the reservations, however they do offer good free play and I enjoy their machines. The food in their courtyard is yummy and I have found the staff to be mostly pleasant. In my opinion this casino does well for its location and for the the amount of space it has to work with, I do have mention that I prefer to visit here during daylight, because of the location.

The Restroom door is missing in the mens room, so theres only one that can be used. The one with the missing door is a handicap stall to make it worse. This makes the whole establishment look very ran down and it ruins the experience as well.

Always have a great time. I have never been bothered by anyone asking me for cigarettes or money. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is great and big portions at a great price, my husbands favorite is there frito pie, but we have also had breakfast there and it was great to. We have gone between 10am and stayed only until 6pm. Tuesday thrust Fridays.

First time going to see the horse races. I enjoyed it very much, I will definitely be coming back again.

Be careful and review and save your receipt if u go to the bar they charge your card twice for the tip u leave them this has happened to me the last few times Ive went I finally was able to save my receipt and look over my statement.
