Great spot close to Albany to teach the kids to fish. Well stocked with trout and sunfish. Bathrooms on site. Hiking trains. A bit noisy due to nearby highway. Train comes by every so often. Picnic tables and fishing dock. A good number of benches. No swimming, but paddling allowed.

This is a quiet gem of a park nestled along Fuller Road at the edge of Crossgates. Ideal for picnics, fishing, kayaking, water boarding, strolling the nature trails, bird watching,or just spending quality time with a good book. Lots of rabbits, woodchucks and other critters, too! Well maintained by the staff. Clean restrooms. Wonderful spot.Especially pretty now as the foliage is changing. Open year-round.

If it werent for the traffic noise you could think you were in the wilderness. This is a very picturesque place. Saw turtles, Great Blue Heron, large snapping turtle, lots of small birds and fish. Several places to go in the different lobes of the lake. Kind of neat paddling under the bridges. Easy put in for the kayaks. Drive in to unload your boats then drive out to the parking and a short walk back.

It just seems like Albany has some otherwise unusable land where I-90 and I-87 meet, also there is a small reservoir for highway runoff inexplicably given the legitimate name of “Rensselaer Lake” It is not a Lake nor is it in Rensselaer. So basically you can walk along the scenic nature preserve directly adjoining I-90 and view the hallowed urban caverns underneath I-87. I did not find the experience very good. I am surprised to see so many positive reviews here, I feel like people have very low standards. I think we as a city are deserving of real greenspace away from Interstate pollution and not just scraps. I get the feeling city livability metrics include things like “total greenspace” and this is our local/state governments’ attempt to juice those rankings. In my dream world, highway 85 is removed completely north of the throughway and turned into “Albany’s Central Park”. In the meantime driving a little farther out to Pine Bush discovery center is a much better option.

Today I saw 2 guys in the tall reeds catching things and bagging them. I am sure they were planning to either cook or sell the stuff they were catching. One of them was wearing camouflage. I think something should be done to prevent this more! I saw endangered painted turtles there, and the wildlife there should be protected more.

Six-mile Waterworks used to actually be the water supply for Albany County its a good size Lake theres actually a series of lakes or ponds around it they have extensive walking trails for nature that you can see wildlife you know deer and other types of animals everything is completely safe they have restrooms a large gazebo so if you end picnic tables so if you wanted to bring the family and have a big party like a picnic you would be more than welcome to do that theres fishing in the lake they still allow you to bring a robo you launch it at your own convenience and its right in the middle of Everett Road it links between Stuyvesant Plaza Western Avenue and Central Avenue so if you live around that area within a few miles its a great place to just get away very relaxing very peaceful

It has HUGE turtles if you go through the back, only really accesible by kayak. Lots of small fish, not many big fish or bass. After 7 hours, I had only 1 bite on a fish that eventually shook his head when I was taking off the hook and fell back in the water

Small nature park next to major highways between Albany, Colonie, and Guilderland. Close to two major shopping centers; Crossgates Mall and Colonie Center. Go early in the day and enjoy the nature trails. The pond is stocked with fish each spring so feel free to drop a line or bring your kayak. Swimming is not allowed. There is a gazebo that you can rent for family events.

Review №70

Crystal clear water but in my experience this place is a crowded fishing area especially during bass season. If you like to fish you will have a hard time catching much. All the fishing piers are on one side of the lake so everyone is casting in roughly the same area/direction. Might be better fishing with a boat. About 2 thirds is just not fishable from shore due to a lack of trails or other property.

Review №71

This little spot has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. For me, its just the solitude and catching sunsets. But for everyone else, its got a few nice trails around the reservoir, a bunch of public bbq grills and picnic table, a decent playground area for kids. Its a nice respite from the hustle around it, and it connects to trails into the Pine Bush as well.

Its not what it use to be. I grew up near by. They use to rent row and paddle boats to the public. They no longer do that. It was a great place to teach young children to fish. Now its just a small lake that you can walk around. The only activity that Ive seen over the past 3 years are people from the near by chip fab factory walking the trails during their lunch break. The place has lost its luster.
