Interesting to learn about the original owners and their influence in the city of Akron. The buildings are kept cool in the summer. Volunteer staff are very nice, helpful and enthusiastic! I appreciate that they keep sheep on the grounds of Mutton Hill as a nod to its origins. The adjacent John Brown house increases the educational value.
Im sure its very nice, but giving it 3 *s because its not open for tours now.And that is not noted on google or front gate. Will edit this rating if we ever get in... April I guess.
Got married here. Great staff, great history. Didnt get to see any ghosts though, but maybe next time.
I was born and raised in Akron and remember coming here in elementary school on a field trip. Thats about all I remembered about Perkins Stone Mansion, and Ive always wanted to go back. Its a pretty stone Georgian home and grounds on Copley Rd. I took a tour, and it was very interesting. There was also information about the Perkins family, and there were indeed sheep still roaming the grounds. It was a very hot June day, but it was cool inside the house due to the 14 inch solid stone walls. It felt like air conditioning. The John Brown house across the street is closed for renovations right now, but it was still worth the trip to see the area and tour Perkins Mansion.
Beautiful facility with great events. The John Brown House is across the street and recently renovated. Great place to visit to learn about Akron!
My children and I went there expecting to just walk around but were greeted by a very friendly employee who guided us to an intro video about the home and then took us to the house where we were taken on a private tour by the sweetest woman! She was very informed on all of the questions I asked and even told me about their paranormal tours and some of the things they show you on that tour. An amazing piece of history.
Interesting to learn more about the history of Akron. The tour guide knew the history but his presentation could use some work. Great place for those wanting to learn about local history.
Barry interesting history would recommend it highly
Nice historic house friendly knowledgeable people
Always loved going to grandpas house.
I’m getting married here on February 29, 2020!
We have gone to Story Time With the Sheep here and had a great time. Everyone was great with the kids. The tour guide took extra time to explain what life was like for the family that lived in the house to the kids.
Beautiful, well maintained, historic mansion built in 1837 by Akrons founding family.
If you love history, please go.
I love Akron and its history! Simon Perkins Mansion is a mustsee for Akronites, as well as, visitors to our city. I have visited here many times, always learning something new about our great city. In fact, I learned that our family, had donated items to the Stone Mansion. I love visiting here. This house is beautiful! Lots of access and information. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour also includes John Brown House, across the street. I always recommend visiting this historical site!
