Not only are the Spanish Steps an impressive sight in their own rite, if you can get to the top of them, youll find the most breathtaking view of the Rome skyline.

Nice ambience, paying or not. Open area with decent view of surrounding Tacoma and the water. If youve never been here its basically public access through historic yet privately owned Elks turned Mcsomethings club. You can comfortably access the two large flights of stairs through the handful of tables, clientele, and others waiting to be seated in the restaurant/bar area without it being any fuss.

Was going to give it five stars, but they replaced the smelly people that hang out on the stairs with rich ones with drinks in hands now. The ambiance is gone.

Found this place by accident on late morning after discovering McMenamins lunch begins at noon. Needing a burger fix, we followed the sign down the stairs to The Spanish Bar. Strongly influenced Spanish in food authenticity as well as name. Our lunches were fantastic. Really great chicken sandwich and Spanish style burger. We opted for the potatoes bravado rather than fries. Great decision. Roast Yukon golds smothered with a Spanish tomato sauce and a garlic dipping sauce. Not yet on Yelp or Trip Advisor, our only complaint is that it’s not better advertised!

The bar is beautiful and has friendly staff. Frustrating though, that on event nights you cant start a tab. If you hold my card, I see no issue with a tab, especially if you add the auto gratuity if I leave it after closing

Best steps. If you need to go up or down to a different street, highly recommend using these steps.

The old 174 used to be the place to go,B.P.O.E. Tacoma Elks lodge, the fraternal order, was centrally located for a little taste at lunch time, but no parking to parking lot Nazis is the case nowadays. Dont come without change to park, you will be ticketed, better yet walk in or ride the free tram. Google Spanish steps and take a virtual tour courtesy of Google earth

Beautifully timeless architecture, in addition to a great place to get steps for your fitbit! Located in downtown Tacoma; a city thats in the process of updating and rebuilding... I love coming across buildings such as this that truly take you back in time.

I was doing a photoshoot around downtown Tacoma and it was suggested to me by a friend to go the Spanish steps. It was one of the trashiest places Ive ever seen. It looked like someone had gone to every office building in Tacoma, grabbed their shredder, drove a truck full of all the shredders to the steps, and dumped them all. Then, there was a bunch of trash from McDonalds that people had left. Also, there were sketchy people hanging out on the steps that stared at us, but I guess you cant expect anything less since it is Tacoma. Anyway, Im giving it two stars because I got at least a few pictures and I can see that the steps have potential.

Ive been to Spain, and I dont recall these steps. You cant just name it Spanish and expect it to be Spanish. Im pretty certain if it really was Spanish, theyd have a Spanish name.
