Heres a little history lesson. Yes, many know that their were once factories here at Cove island, as it was on the water and served as an ideal location for commerce and industry. There were very few good roads and ground transportation was very difficult in the 1800s. Most if not all goods moved by water. After the factories left the Cove, Connecticut Light and Power was looking at Cove island to build a huge power generating station. Thankfully the locals , including my father, fought this, so we can enjoy this beautiful park today.

This is such a beautiful little island where you can enjoy many outdoor activities. There are ample spaces where can have family picnics. You can lounge on the beach on a chair or in a hammock, or you can walk on the one mile trail around the park.

Beautiful spot for a walk, picnic or outdoor workout. Beaches, marina, basketball court, tennis court, bike/rollerblade paths. Parking is easy for Stamford residents, restricted or need to buy a permit otherwise.

If your strolling around Cove, on the other side of the parking lot closer to the ice rink but at the right end of parking lot there is a wonderful Wildlife Bird sanctuary. Worth the walk. It goes around in a large, large circle and was easy to visit and I am glad I didnt miss out on this while at Cove in Stamford,CT! A+!

It was so beautiful and peaceful there. I got there at 9: 30 AM and we were the first people on the beach, it was empty till about noon and then it started to fill up. The only one negative about that place is there bathrooms. Ive never been more disgusted in my life. Other than that, its a perfect spot to relax

We went on a little run and decided to stop here to appreciate the view. We also decided that the best way to experience nature was to actually be in it so we jumped on the mud and went crab hunting. Great mud quality, the viscosity was right on point. Only 4 starts because we only saw a few bottles and plastic bags. Great place to practice some yoga as you are surrounded by seagulls. Will bring my family and friends.

We love Cove Island! A great place any time of year. Beautiful views of the Sound, paved walking paths, bike lane for kids, large lawns, grills, a playground, etc. Theres a snack bar in the summer season. The wildlife sanctuary is quiet, away from the main park. Its a really nice place to do some birding, or to just take a quiet walk by yourself or with friends or family. Parking is expensive though from May through September, $25/ day unless you have a Stamford resident beach pass.

Easy access for all ages as long as able to walk. If have wheelchair - might be difficult getting past anti-auto gate as well as navigating some of the narrow paths. The trails and paths can be muddy as should be expected so be prepared. Vary the time of day & season you visit to observe the changes in vegetation, wildlife, and the hints of wildlife that live there but not always visible. Keep eyes out of your phones to look up into trees & sky - might see birds of prey - Coopers Hawk, Osprey, etc. Bring binoculars to better see the birds feeding at the feeders, paddling in the harbor, and soaring flying just above the waters. On the bulletin board by entry are bird ID charts and a spot to jot what other visitors may have seen. All this nature minutes from 95. Be careful driving thru parking area - ice hockey fans & families, walkers, kids, radio-control car enthusiasts. A perfect place for your daily dose of outdoors whether you have just 15 minutes or an hour.

Sc
Review №56

The place in itself is not bad. Its that you have to pay to park, its just that why do you have to pay to park to get in a place that your tax dollars already pay for. When you go to the beach after hours and theres not an attendant and if you do not have a pass or sticker on your window it cost you $85 in a ticket. I say to the people around here, is this not a money grab? Where does this money go. Not to the roads. They never improve they only get worse. Who runs this town? Not the tax payers. No wonder Stamford is in the top 5 highest places to live.Again my question is where does the tax dollars go. The amount of money they charge for you to get in does not make it nearly worth it. The water is nasty.

I lived on Euclid Avenue, right next to the park, for over 15 years. Its great that the city has transformed this area into a public space. It used to be a leaf dumping area and was difficult to navigate, but the small beach area was always quiet and beautiful. I have many nice memories of this area.
