Wonderfully kept up. The grounds are rugged and all levels of hiking available from easy grade to moderately steep. J-johns are on site and clean.

The gate way to a great hike. Very well maintained by the guest so pack it in / pack it out.Known for being the gateway to the American West, Spokane has come a long way since the days of being a rail hub, transforming into a vibrant city with a plethora of outdoor opportunities whist retaining that authentic feel of inland Northwest culture.

There was a bench, a working water fountain and sweet cool shade. Also nice grass to relax on and some hysterical (not a typo) markings to read.

Smaller, but Beautiful park in the rocky foothills just above the Spokane river. Excellent mountain biking trails, technical single track, and bouldering and face climbing to be had, not to mention trail running, and when you get too hot, cross the road and catch a quick dip in the river! Lots of people out for a walk, but didnt feel too crowded, and its close enough to do a morning run, break for lunch, get back at it for a few hours and be home for supper!

I enjoy bring the dog out here to hike. She really enjoys the more strenuous hike and the view is pretty good if you get to the top of the rocks. There are several paths that vary in steepness and length but we usually can get a good hour and a half in.

Re
Review №31

Very easily accessable rock climbing area with a lot of top rope options. There are also mountain bike and going trails that start here and connect up with the camp sekani/beacon hill trail system. Not the most open Park for just wandering around, and not recommended for wheelchair folks.

Ja

When I lived in Spokane I used to bike the Centennial trail and found out about this spot from some friends. Its a beautiful park full of hiking trails, which are also great for mountain biking. And if I ever get back with my climbing gear, there is some Sport climbing available. Walk across the street to the Spokane river or hike to the top of the hill for a sweeping view of Spokane and the valley. John C. Shields Park is a great spot to get away from the city without having to travel far!

It is like the trash dump trail of the northwest. I walk barefoot, there is so much broken glass everywhere. I do not want to even take my dog for fear he will hurt himself.
