A great place for a short hike with the grandson. Plenty to see and observe. Good walk, few people (WINDY) everyone we met zooped on a mask when needed.
The gate way to a great hike. Very well maintained by the guest so pack it in / pack it out.Known for being the gateway to the American West, Spokane has come a long way since the days of being a rail hub, transforming into a vibrant city with a plethora of outdoor opportunities whist retaining that authentic feel of inland Northwest culture.
Very cute park with lots of hiking, some rock climbing, ruins, and beautiful views of the spokane River.Truly a jem of Spokanes east side
There was a bench, a working water fountain and sweet cool shade. Also nice grass to relax on and some hysterical (not a typo) markings to read.
Visually beautiful other then the traffic driving by it is a place to get out and walk some trails if ur into that kinda thing. Def a place to stop, visit, on every encounter if and when possible
Smaller, but Beautiful park in the rocky foothills just above the Spokane river. Excellent mountain biking trails, technical single track, and bouldering and face climbing to be had, not to mention trail running, and when you get too hot, cross the road and catch a quick dip in the river! Lots of people out for a walk, but didnt feel too crowded, and its close enough to do a morning run, break for lunch, get back at it for a few hours and be home for supper!
Beautiful spot with some amazing rock formations!
Nice quiet park well taken care of
Great for rock climbing and mountain biking
Great trails and plenty of rocks to climb and explore
Great for rock climbing but the trails areca bit over grown
Love beacon hill! always great to stop by for a quick but thorough hike. Can quickly get your heart racing or take it slow depending on the trail you take!(: never gets old. Need to keep beacon public!!!
Great place to bring my beginner kids to climb. Good view good beginner climbing
Free place to go hiking. From simple trails for everyone to more Rocky ones for more climbing. Several mountain climbing spots. Dog friendly
Great snowshoeing out there right now!! Take advantage while we have this much snow right here in town.
It can have a nasty oder but the dam is super peaceful so it balances.
Very easily accessable rock climbing area with a lot of top rope options. There are also mountain bike and going trails that start here and connect up with the camp sekani/beacon hill trail system. Not the most open Park for just wandering around, and not recommended for wheelchair folks.
When I lived in Spokane I used to bike the Centennial trail and found out about this spot from some friends. Its a beautiful park full of hiking trails, which are also great for mountain biking. And if I ever get back with my climbing gear, there is some Sport climbing available. Walk across the street to the Spokane river or hike to the top of the hill for a sweeping view of Spokane and the valley. John C. Shields Park is a great spot to get away from the city without having to travel far!
Great place for a quick hike or an all day adventure the cliff has great views of felts field (Airport) my girlfriend loves to sit and watch them take off if you do intend on hiking to the top Id recommend watching out for bikers theres occasionally races (marked trails) so be alert but have a good time
Pack out what you bring and this area will stay as beautiful as it is today.
Wonderful area to hike and go adventuring!!! They have huge climbing rocks you can go up the backside and gaze at the veiw of the river and felts feild. The top also has a gorgeous veiw. Tons of trails!!! Great place for dogs too.
The trails are good for all recreation, from hiking, rc trucks, to mt. Biking.
Just lead my first trad route here. Really cool place and convenient location, absolute playground for climbers.
Beautiful.... seen people cleaning up
Close to town with options for rock climbing, trail running, hiking, and mountain biking. Some kind of steep terrain. Lots of trails, easy to get a little turned around, so pay attention. Very hard to actually get lost though. Overall solid place to visit.
It is like the trash dump trail of the northwest. I walk barefoot, there is so much broken glass everywhere. I do not want to even take my dog for fear he will hurt himself.
Lots of trails and places to roam without trails. Great views sweet rocks!
Little bit of something for everyone, the kids and I really enjoy this place
Love to go out there with my rc crawlers step hard lines and its a great work out.
Nice trails and views! Right on the edge of town! Nature is a great way to releive stress! Get out there!
My family and I love hiking these trails, I wish it had a couple marked trails but we enjoy it regardless.
Great place to hike and people also rock climb here!
There are drop offs and steep climbs, but if your kids are old enough to handle it or small enough to carry, its an awesome place for the whole family! We love climbing on the boulders, watching planes take off across the road, and discovering new paths.
Great climbing and hiking. A little noisey when I went.
Ill be back
Very cool little trails and beautiful little nature escape in the city looked to be a fun place to do a little rock climbing too
Very pretty scenery
Several trail options from easy/beginner to advanced hiking trails. A great rock climbing area and wonderful views of the Spokane River and Felts Field. We enjoy hiking to the top and having a picnic. This is a fantastic place for dates with my hubby and family time!
Beautiful view!! Great excirse!
A getaway when you cant get away.. Love it
Such an amazing, family friendly park. Beautiful landscape and numerous activity areas to explore and be active.
Lots of broken glass up top. Keep the dogs and bike on trail or glass
My kids excitement, the unknown and trying to creep each other out is so amusing.
Fun place to rock climb that is very close to downtown Spokane!
Very nice
Dont park there. Multiple cars have been broken into at that location during daylight hours.
Love this place. Its a great way to spend family time without it costing $ like the state parks
Beautiful rock formations and nice hikes
A beautiful park with a beautiful view. The rocks provide opportunities for varying difficulty levels of climbing. The top of the cliff is also just a nice spot to watch sunset or watch the planes take off from Felts Field.
Great hike for a workout and beautiful views from the top. Trails are poor and not maintained and the hike is steep.
Peacefull go hear and close your eyes for about a min. And just listin to the water flow it calm the soul.
Good place for a medium to difficult hike.
Very beautiful and senic.. Great for rc
Could use a little clean up but its a nice spot to hang out in nature and do a little hiking.
Great place to take the kids to look and explore
Great place with views of the Spokane River and Dam.
Great climbing and hiking park. Not easy hiking but fun.
If youre into rock climbing this is the place also great hiking trails
The kids had a great time
Butifull view I just wished there was good grass for kids to play in along with a fence on the river bank
Rock climbing!
Careful parking! Our window was only slightly open and someone forced it open and stole stuff. Other than that we had fun rappelling.
Love it there only trouble was walking back to my car it was up hill.
Beautiful place
I was wonderful!!
A nice nature walk in spokane dog friendly and plenty of parking
Very beautiful and a easy hike
My Dad used to bring me and my friends here over 35 years ago, now my kids are exploring the very same trails. One of our favorite places to play in Spokane.
Sunny day outing with the family, happy day
It is a nice simple hiking and biking spot. The trails expand far past the actual park and is a short distance from the city.
