I visited this rose garden around golden hour and it was magical. Strolling around and smelling the roses made for a very peaceful evening. I suggest checking out the sensory garden whether you’re an adult or child- it was fun playing with the chimes and music makers.

This is the secret garden that you need to know about. If you walk to the east all the way in the left corner is a lovely space that has Chimes and bells. I like visiting in the early morning or late afternoon around sunset.

Its a lovely garden beautifully arranged and almost all species are labeled, a plus for the avid rose gardeners out there! The fountain and reflecting pool with water lilies are a nice bonus. Always enjoyable visit.

Unexpected garden right between the zoo and lower woodland park! Exquisitely kept garden, with enough grassy areas for a picnic. Kid friendly.

Even during the winter season the rose garden is a beautiful place to visit. Although the roses are dormant, there is so much life in the park. Serene and peaceful, I like to stop here along my walks through Woodland Park. The sensory garden has been a nice addition and makes the experience more interactive -- ring a few bells while youre there and let the vibrations and atmosphere soothe you. As the weather warms and the flowers bloom, the scent of roses wafts through the air. Youll never buy artificial rose deodorizer again -- it just wont be the same.

Edit- I checked here and it said open so I drove all the way from West Seattle (remember the bridge is now closed also) with my dear friend who is 102 so she could visit the roses and they were closed. It would be great if you could update the hours.I love this place, truly a unique treasure of Seattle, perfect for spending time relaxing or reveling in the glory of the roses.

Over 3,000 roses and 200 species. This is a test garden for new hybrids of American roses before they are released for distribution to amateur rose enthusiasts. The garden layout is from the 1920s and embraces a particularly ‘Seattle’ theme. The roses are beautiful in June but continue to bloom into August.

Walking distance to where I was staying so decided to check it out. It was so tranquil with very well maintained roses and gazebos and arbors. It also had an area with bells and other sound contraptions for you to make music. If they had wifi I would work here but I guess that would defeat the definition of tranquility.

You can view lots of old school rose varieties for free. The place feels a bit dated, but it is fun to stroll around.I saw a huge animal nest in one of the trees at the back South East corner of the park. I wonder if it was made by the Yeti. Perhaps they are coming back into the area now that local housing prices are going down. I guestimate that a unit like that would go for about $1500 per month because it has a view. ;)

If youre looking for a great view of the city and skyline, this is the place to come. During the day or at night, you get a great view. In a nice neighborhood that feels safe even at night. Highly recommend for tourists or photographers. Not a ton of green space though, more just to see the sights. Street parking available around the park.

A free public park featuring carefully bred and maintenanced roses, water fountains, gazebos, benches, a pond and even a sensory garden section. Very serene, blissful. Wonderful place for a walk, especially just before sunset or at daybreak. The only downside is there are no restrooms super close so using a restroom before coming is recommended.

I am not a huge fan of walking through gardens, but they keep the Rose garden really nice. There are lots of beautiful blooms as well as some bushes and other evergreens. We tend to stop here in the summer as we walk to the zoo from down by Woodland Park. My girls enjoy it and it is free, so why not? I seem to recall they label the plants, but I tend to be chasing after toddlers, so I dont normally have the opportunity to benefit from the labels.

I love it! I could smell the roses the moment I stepped into the garden. It is not that big, benches were provided to take a break. I went this morning around 11:50am after visiting the zoo. I spent 30 minutes at the Rose Garden taking pictures and resting at the bench simply enjoying the scenery. Not many tourists know about this place. It is at the South Entrance. After that, I walked towards Woodland Park and Green Lake Park. Wear comfortable shoes.
