My first sailing lesson Keel Boat 1, in the 22 sailboat was awesome. There were 3 students and the instructor. We were given study material to prepare which helped us understand the maneuvers we were going to learn. The instructor was excellent. Im continuing through the entire sail training program. I took the basic power boating course with Brian this past weekend and had a blast! Initially, I thought he was nuts to have boating newbies docking and doing tight turns around ridiculously expensive yachts at Shilshole. It turned out to be great practice and stellar motivation to get your angles right!Brian was calm, good humored and very knowledgeable. Id highly recommend this class for those with little to no prior boating experience.

I just finished my bareboat cruising course with captain Brian and it was an absolute hoot! Ive taken a few classes through windworks, but this was my favorite. We did a ton of practice and emergency drills, which made every sailor on the trip walk away feeling more confident of their skills in every type of situation. The added bonus to learning and practicing so much was the event was fun! We laughed, drank beers (after parking of course), and enjoyed 2 days of sailing!

I had an excellent experience taking the Basic Keel course series and walked away feeling very competent with abilities. The instructors were very thorough in their teaching and made me feel comfortable while trying new skills. Despite their very different teaching styles, both Norm and Gordon were excellent! They prepared me well for the test, allowed me plenty of chances to hone my maneuvers and inspired me to continue learning the sport. I look forward to continuing my experience and education through Windworks and finding new sailing friends along the way.

Ive just completed the US Sailing BK1/2/3 series and Basic Keelboat test at Windworks with instructors Barend, Fred, then Gordon. The weather in November was as expected for winter (cold, strong & gusty) - in other words, excellent training weather to gain experience! Each instructor had a very different personality, set of experiences, and approach which sounds like it could be confusing, but for a topic as broad and deep as sailing I found it incredibly valuable to have the different styles and perspectives, all within the framework provided by US Sailing. Overall excellent experience and I plan on continuing my education at Windworks.

Learning to sail a keelboat, the easy way! Ive sailed dinghies before, but I was eager to take a course to deal with the handling, sea condition, and navigation differences between those and keelboats. Struck gold with our dedicated instructor, Fred, who has years of sailing experience, patience, organization (he put together loads of teaching materials for us), and an ability to explain sailing concepts in straight-forward terms. The Capri 22s are in good condition and sufficiently forgiving for novice sailors. During these COVID times, its also a nice thrill to get out on the Sound and see the wildlife so close to town: seals, otters, jumping fish and seabirds. Ratio of students to boats is low (two students and one instructor for my two classes so far).

In early November 2019, I walked into the Windworks office at the Shilshole Bay Marina, where I moored by 2000 Bavaria Ocean 38 sailboat to discuss listing my boat for sale. I selected Windworks because they are the local Catalina dealer and had Bavaria sailboats in their local boat club and charter service. Mark and Victor understood family cruising sailboats, and were very aware of the Market for boats like mine.I had planned to list in early Spring 2020, but Mark advised me to not wait, and provided data to support the benefit of a winter listing and pricing. Following listing Victor went full speed with advice on preparing my boat for showing, and had prospects viewing within a week. Within within three weeks we had a solid offer. From that point, I just stood back and Victor took care of the sea trials, survey and final negotiations. It was a professional, and, surprisingly, fun process made possible by Mark and Victor’s customer approach.

I was extremely impressed and satisfied with the high caliper training I received at Windworks Sailing Club in Shishole - The hands on real world training I received was critical to advance my sailing proficiency. Will (our Master Instructor) in the Basic through Bareboat series exhibited the quality of instruction that attracted me to the US Sailing program. Having taken training with several other training venues, I can say without a doubt that the quality of instruction is more of a graduate level curriculum.A key success feature of the program is that the student Instructor ratio of 4:1 allows for enough one on one training. I would definitely not recommend a program with a higher to student to instructor ratio.May hat is off to the U.S. Sailing program for the design of the courses as well as the high standards of the Instructional Staff.

The Spring Tides Flotilla was 4 days of great cruising experience shared by a large group of Windworks members on 8 sailboats. I crewed on Sirocco, a beautiful virtually new Hanse 470e. Of course, elegance and craftsmanship are delightful, but the performance sails and rigging made Sirocco the fastest boat in the fleet. We had lots of 20-30 knot winds and gusts to cope with, and only our coordination as a team left room for improvement. (We never sailed together before.) Yet it was easy to improve and start to harness the Siroccos potential. The open transom and large, comfortable cockpit was a real hit for evening socializing at the dock (stern in). For experiencing and observing a large variety of vessels handled by a large number of seasoned sailors, I strongly urge others to sign up for next years Spring Tides Flotilla. Windworks has done a real service to the community in organizing this long weekend cruise through the San Juans and, not to forget, a crossing of Deception Pass.

Ive been sailing with Windworks for a little over a year now and can not say enough good things about this club. I came in with very little sailing experience with small boats on Lake Washington and had a desire to step up my knowledge to Puget Sound sailing on larger cruisers and had little interest in owning one (for a while, at least). I took their US Sailing Basic Keelboat and Basic Cruising courses and a couple of clinics before deciding to jump all-in as a Windworks Club member so that I could get access to discounts on additional classes and clinics, and to their excellent fleet of well-maintained cruising sailboats. Ive now completed Bareboat Cruising and Navigation & Piloting courses, participated in their Spring Tides sail to the San Juan Islands, and have just been having a blast on the beautiful Puget Sound waters with friends and family. Everyone from the front office to the instructors and dock crews are professional and truly committed to their members safe enjoyment of boating. One thing to know about their US Sailing courses - they do not teach the test like some other shops. My experience with Sailing Director Patrick Najou is that he can be tough but he is a tremendous wealth of knowledge who puts safety first and wants to make damn sure that his students know their stuff. Will Rodman has an incredible talent for sail trim, practical seamanship, and rough weather handling that is a huge benefit to his students, Giorgio Pompei is a clear, concise instructor with the patience of a saint. If you want to sail, this club can definitely get you there, whatever your starting point or end goal.

I am responding to Ron Lee’s negative review of Windworks. I am the seller whom WindWorks represented in this transaction. This sale fell apart solely because of Rons actions. These include ordering work performed on the vessel before he owned it, insisting that I pay for all issues uncovered by the survey prior to the survey being completed and the value of the vessel established, and the ultimatums that if we did not agree to his terms immediately, he would withdraw. Ron also misrepresented the survey valuation insisting that I pay for all repairs in return for his purchasing the vessel at the as is , rather than the fair market value after then work was performed, a difference of $5000. WindWorks took the high road and refunded Ron for work Ron ordered waxing the hull and that WindWorks had the right to deduct from his Ernest money. They also arranged for a new buyer to purchase the survey from Ron. The new deal quickly closed, in line with the fair market price of the vessel. WindWorks and Mark Evans are wonderful to work with, are very ethical and knowledgeable. I would unequivocally recommend them.

Weve been able to try different boats, build experience and get valuable training and advice from the instructors, and the expert dock staff who keep everything running. If you want to add sailing back into your life, but arent ready to own your own vessel yet, definitely give Windworks a try. Its been a good fit for us.

The fleet is really fantastic, I can rent what I wanted after going through the BBC training. I like to have parties with my friends on boats and all the 40 plus boats are a good fit. one world is my favorite! Learing to control the dual motors is not as difficult as you think. Of couse, you should have good motion control and understand where the wind is blowing! Dont be afraid to make mistakes, I have my fair share of them. Those experienced sailors like Georgio and Will had given me a lot of knowledge and seamanship! Great club! The owner Mark is very kind and docking will always get a helping hand which makes you comfortable. The boats are well kept and in good shape!

Windworks continues to offer top notch training.I took a docking class on 11 March. Will, the instructor, was very educational. He was patient and understanding of my skill level. I never felt rushed or uncomfortable with my limited skills. The course was a perfect timeframe, a well balanced amount of demonstration and practice time.We were able to ask a great deal of questions, regardless if directly related to docking.I continue to feel more confident after each class.I look forward to other courses offered by Will or the other instructors at Windworks.
