Good playground for toddlers. A nice place to relax and eat lunch outside especially during covid. Also, you can learn some history.

The Comfort Women Memorial is a hidden gem in San Francisco. It is tucked away at the back of St. Marys Square (rooftop of the garage) in a large open park setting where there is lots of sunlight and seating. Its a beautiful resting place for tourist and locals away from the crowds.This Comfort Women Memorial Column of Strength was created by Steven Whyte memorializes the strength and bravery of sexual violence survivors. The three young Comfort Women are shown holding hands, forming a circle of solidarity with all sexual abuse survivors. Their position on top of the column indicates that they have risen about the cycle of violence but still a hint of disconnect from the rest of society. With the public outcry from the surviving Grandmas , they will no longer have their stories hidden in shame. The steel base features a rusted patina to communicate the violence and destruction caused by sexual violence. The patina color spectrum, changes to the more naturalistic colors at the top of the figures.The three girls were typical of young girls abducted and forced into sex slavery during WWII. The Chinese Girl wears traditional braids and peasant clothing. The Korean girl wears a Korean school uniform. The Filipino Girl wears a head scarf with a 30s-40s dress. The Grandma represents the Comfort Women survivors who are now over 80 years of age.The San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed Resolution 342-15 calling for the building of a memorial to the comfort women in San Francisco and to educate its students about the history, past and present about sex trafficking and sexual slavery.The Comfort Women Justice Coalition, a broad coalition of immigrant communities womens organizations, and 11 human rights groups organized to build the memorial for comfort women.

For a City park, it is pretty nice. An oasis in the midst of many high rises. Havent been there in over 50 years. Still well kept.

This cute and green space is a escape at this Nob Hill refuge, near St Mary’s church. The small play structure and swings will entertain kids. Saint Marys Square is a park and urban square across California Street from Old St. Marys Cathedral in San Franciscos Chinatown, in California.

Quiet, hidden, clean spot not taken over by the urban campers...

The Women of Comfort memorial is very touching. Although it is located in a corner of the park and can be missed unless one is looking for it.

Great shopping. Lots of good deals and cool things to buy. My family and I found it very easy to move around and get from shop to shop. We got some really great deals that have immortalized our trip to San Francisco.

The statue of Sun Yat-Sen is here, he was the leader of the rebellion that ended the Qing Dynasty and was the founder of the Republic of China.There benches and a small playground. Its a nice break from the main street of Chinatown.

Great little family park with a playground, swings, trees and surprisingly a bathroom in the middle of Chinatown/Downtown. Unfortunately the bathroom is usually occupied for long periods of time and really unkept.

Centenary square is a beautiful quiet small Park right next to the heart of Chinatown on the westside in between Grant and Kearney and its one of those places in San Francisco this quiet and peaceful but you dont really realize that you are in a city is bustling or thats fast-paced in San Francisco financial district is only a block away you can feel secure taking your kids even the young ones to play and you can sit and relax Magellans full View was nice clean air its just a great place to relax and let your kids work off some energy while you take a break and Center yourself I hope you guys enjoy as much as I do

Nice, cozy park...My favorite swing is here...its refreshing to be here...youll find nice sculptures here....its on a little hill and tucked away in a corner but getting here is worthwhile...

Delightful neighborhood park with some interesting historical sculpture. I was particularly moved by the Comfort Women Memorial.

Quite place within a busy city. Good place to sit and have lunch. We did this as visitors to Chinatown.

I did a lay back boardslide on the cardiel ledge, it was fun..

Lots of older Asian folks doing tai chi, synconised dancing, badminton and fencing. Always something to look at. Also several homeless people many of which appear to be mentally ill and high on drugs

Bit of nostalgia for me had forgotten the small park of near the big one I played in as a child. It has changed ..gotten a little bigger/cleaner than I remembered

Its small and quaint, you can bring your kids and dogs. There is a public restroom and the location is ideal.

St. Marys Square is one of those tiny bits of urban quietness you dont usually expect to find in a bustling city like San Francisco, but its there. Sitting on top of the parking garage, and across the street from Old St. Marys Church, the little square is pretty quiet nowadays, as the taichi practitioners generally go to Portsmouth Square, only a few blocks away. Hiding among the tall buildings of Financial district, it is usually quiet . It contains some kids play area and some statues. Being on the California cable car line, it makes an interesting place to take a break after your walk through Chinatown, being between the Dragon Gate and the rest of Chinatown.

St Marys Square is an oasis of fresh air and peacefulness next to the heart of Chinatown. Its a great place for a lunchtime break away from the hectic busyness of the office, and also a pleasant spot for quiet reflection when you need to clear your head or chat with a friend.

I used to work across the street, would eat my lunch here. Yes, there is a homeless problem but its downtown SF... They tend to make nests and tents and then the cops chase them off, then theyre back, etc.. But the playground seems like a nice place to take the kids. I would avoid it after sunset though.

Enjoy the atmosphere and a classic, timeless area of San Franciscos Chinatown.

Great little park near Chinatown. Walk your dog, bring kids to play on jungle gym, sit for lunch or coffee.

Lots of people and cool shops to check out,but can be a bit crowded.

Sadly another childrens playground ruined by questionable characters committing illegal acts. The areas reeks of urine and feces. There were obvious drug users loitering about, sneaking in and out of the public toilet.I brought my baby one afternoon. There were NO OTHER CHILDREN! Now I know why. What a shame that the city cant fix this problem.

This is a nice little park, easily accessible from the office buildings downtown.

Small but decent playground. Kid had fun with the sand scooping pulley. Interesting statues.

Therere four sex slaves sculptures whod been exploited through scam by Japan military government during WWII. An old woman of them is Ms. Kim who witnessed in Japan court in 91, ashamed.SF made it despite its sister city, Osacas threat to cut off relationship.

Nothing special, would be a nice place if it werent all full of bad smell and homeless. We couldnt take a seat here.

This is my get off the main walk and chill spot. There is a public restroom that self cleans and lots of places to sit and relax. If there are no kids on the playground Ill go swing for awhile.
