My true love. I love you so much. It is a beautiful, holy, glorious, peaceful sacred palace. So powerful and incorruptible. God is almighty and most Powerful! He reigns forever!! He is on the throne! He is in complete control. He is good. And forgiving and most merciful. I’ve had 2 visions of Him in my life. He is Real. Mother Mary is real. Heaven is real. Hell is real!!!!

Beautiful church. Can be seen from road side. Huge parking lot. The church os huge and spacious. Church Alter will occupy a space in your heart. Church involved in many community activities.

Large space for worship in the center of the city. I prefer a more intimate setting but this place is great for large gatherings and the adjacent high school is nice. Classes, parties and all sorts of events are held below.

So serene and really a jaw dropping beauty. Travelling solo to San Francisco for the first time ever, Cathedral of Saint Mary was on my go to list as it was near to my Hostel as well. Took a bus from USA Hostels which dropped me right in front of the church. After reaching there I was awestruck by the amazing architect of the church. There was pin drop silence. It was huge and marvellous. Thanked the mighty one for every blessing.

Well worth it. The filtering and use of light is amazing. Too bad we saw this Monday that they have Sunday organ concerts. Apparently the acoustics are amazing. Next time ...

This place for the chair of the Archbishop is huge. Out side there is plenty of room for the faithful father too.

Hands-down, St Marys the most beautiful cathedral in all of San Francisco Bay Area. Very famous and controversial since it was built in the 1960s. Site of many famous religious events and SF funerals. School tours are offered by reservation.Make a visit. (Men must remove their hats.) Easy parking.The staff is wonderful. Used to have stellar Bishops.

I only visited briefly, and not during a liturgical celebration. I hope to go back to attend a Mass. I can be very critical about the building itself, but Ill simply summarize by saying Im very disappointed in the architecture. The designer should have taken notes from the St Peter and Paul church in the area.

The main building is extremely tall and distinctive. Me and my friends used to call it the agitator because it really does resemble that white thingy in the center of a washing machine. Despite that seemingly unflattering description the building is quite beautiful and grounds all around it are bright and clean and peaceful.

Gigantic and beautiful church with good pipe organ and acoustics.But I always wonder when the church is too luxuriously built, Is this really necessary?

This Catholic catherdal at Geary & Gough is symbolic of the S.F. districts namesake: Cathedral Hill. Its modern design easily demands attention by everyone.The church is open to visitors & provides exterior terraces that have photogenic views of The City.Check out photos from a birds perspective. It was described as the worlds largest Phillips screwdriver.

An architectural marvel! I come to this church to say mass. Great choir as well. A good place of worship.

Interesting place to visit. The architecture and mini chapels around the perimeter were interesting. The concrete architecture and massive supports did create a intriguing center ceiling to look up into but also conveyed a distant feel to the space.

Appropriate temptation is for a place of worship to outdo all else. In SF, nothing could stay ahead of Salesforce Tower, but located well apart from those spires, it succeeds within to create a compelling focus to the heavens even as the spectacular views seem muted in every other direction. The exterior is a commanding structure that states we have an important place for worship in San Francisco.

Quite breathtaking. Clean, open to public and not filled with hobos.

The gift shop has lots of items with many saints and sacred objects. It is a quiet place to pray.

Some guards inside the Cathedral are not friendly. (I just would like to review, so the Bishop or leaders could adjust and manage these problems in the love of God.One time I met a black man (African American) unwelcome me, because in the Mass there is 4 straight lines of benches in front of the altar. I sit on the right side of the most left. During the Mass entrance process, I was closing my eyes and praying. Immediately a black guard touched me, and asked me sit two rows of the central benches. He asked me in the way not so friendly, just like a president of China asked his people to do something forcefully. Actually, I don’t think it does a big deal because of sitting there. I used to be millions of churches, and this was the first time I experienced that.One time I met a woman (Asian) unwelcome me. At that time I went with my friend, both of us are Catholic laypersons. We know the way how to adore and worship God, and the church. After praying, I just wanted to show him the beauty of the Cathedral, so I just would like set up the tripod (it’s very thin and small) in front of the well. At the moment, there was not so crowed, counted all the people only around 4-5 people, included the guards. But she the guard asked us not to use tripod and take the picture there. I’m sure that we don’t make any obstacles for anyone else. Because no one was at the area at that time. I know the rules of some churches could force like that, but sometimes we can ignore because it doesn’t matter surroundings. Just only show your humility, empathy and love.I would like someone, especially Catholic laypersons read this review, and pray for all of the problems or all of the matters unfriendly, unwelcome from inside the church. So, everybody come there, just feel beloved and welcome.Through the intercession of Mother Mary, Lord! Hear our prayers! Amen.

This Cathedral in the San Francisco is truly a magnificient building!

I did not have the chance to enter the cathedral...The outside is beautiful and the architecture of the building is original enough to be pointed out. It is immense and modern, and is based on symbolic pillars such as the cross as the main structure. I think it may be worth wandering a few moments around it to spot out the best shots of it.

A very impressive place to take pictures

It was awesome. We were the only ones there and a lady was playing some chords on the organ. Then after a while she moved to the baby grand and with another lady on the violin the rehearsed some classical pieces! It was celestial!

The Cathedral is wonderful - an architectural gem. Fascinating history as it was built in the 1960s. Cement Trucks were lined up all the way down Geary to pour foundation. The Archbishop is a source of much consternation. He is highly not-respected and a full page ad was taken on in SF Chron siting his many biases, anti LGBTQ, Opus Die, conservative views. ...dozens of SF Catholics signed the ad. When he leaves, the archdiocese will celebrate.

Everytime I am in San Francisco where I grew up by the way I still attend some of the Catholic churches ...including the cathedral of saint Mary and also I come every year to the annual Walk For Life and this is where they have the Walk For Life morning Mass before everybody heads to the Civic center... it is a beautiful building and the people are fairly nice ...sometimes the security guards are a little too watchful not sure they really need security guards here but thats the only thing that really sometimes annoys me now... I encourage my fellow Christian Catholics to keep growing in Christ keep believing keep telling the good news trying to fulfill the great commission as were all called to do God bless you all in the name of the father son and holy spirit amen ...hail Mary full of grace

The architectural design of this church is spectacular at sending the message that there is no hope, only despair. It is yet another reminder of how the architectural establisment has no greater pleasure than to lower the quality of life in our cities, towns, and villages with their pretentious designs that absolutely no one appreciates except for the architects themselves. By the way, Ive heard that staff like to spray homeless people with water, I guess their behavior matches the lure of the building. Repulsive.

My Irish friends have dragged their teenage daughter through cathedrals all over Europe—those places that are all trying to outdo each other with guilding and gore (How realistic is our mutilated Jesus!) I brought them to Saint Marys and they were absolutely blown away by how truly splendid a cathedral can be.

I like the smelling.. . Interior is excellent.

Its a nice and pretty church. But i feel like many things are not aligned with their beliefs. They are money driven. The book store sells bibles, when on them its printed that they are not to be sold or used to make a profit. Confession with the priest dont seem genuine, like if they already have planed what they are going to say because its repetitive what they hear. Like if they themselves are bored.

This is the Catholic Cathedral of San Francisco archdiocese. The inside is modern but beautiful. They have a gift shop on site with religious items. Google thinks this is a restaurant which is wrong.

Its definitely an impressive structure but like most of San Francisco, I find the modern architecture lacking the true character and craftsmanship older churches have.

The architecture is simply wow! Solemn place to pray.
