Amazing art collection. Im so grateful it was open when I visited from Mexico City. The staff is super friendly and nice, and the art exhibits are stimulating and well curated. If you have the time and money to spare, get the pastrami sandwich at the cafeteria. Nothing to write home about, but its a nice place to have lunch and rest half way.

So timed entries and theyre limiting the number of visitors per day per CDC guidelines. I love Pop Art and they have an amazing permanent collection. But a lot of those artists being featured are cis, white men in that collection. Like yawn. I mean, Warhol? Like Im tired. And I love Warhol as a concept. But come on, make space for BIPOC artists and retire these dinosaurs to the basement. They do have this amazing new visual multimedia exhibit on the top floor by black artists. Honestly they should have expanded that curation. Like is that the only real estate they can give BIPOC artists in museums, which is 33% of the floor because apparently the rest of the floor is under construction. So yeah you might see some of that next to the exhibit.

As always, the SF MoMa is an amazing place with one of the best photography collections of any fine arts museums, in addition to all the great works youd expect to find at a world-class museum of modern art. Their interpretive programs and audio guides are well thought out and really help peel back the layers behind a piece. And now, during the COVID-19 pandemic, theyve done a fantastic job of providing access while still keeping safety a priority: masks are required for everyone at all times, in-person capacity has been drastically reduced, there is hand sanitizer everywhere, properly distanced lines with floor markings, well-informed and trained staff, and only galleries where it is possible to properly socially distance are open. There was never any crowding and people (all masked) stayed well within 6ft of distance from each other at all times during a recent visit in November 2020.

Great Contemporary Artists. Local, international, and historic modern artists. The gift shop is hands down the best gift shop in the city. You can get a $5 gift or a very expensive gift, but whatever the price it is gonna be a cool gift. They have the greatest collection of books in their gift shop. I get lost for hours sometimes looking at them. They get very annoyed with me Im sure. Lol they have never said anything to me for staying in there for 4 hours one time looking at all of their great impressive collection of books. Guarantee you can find something for anyone in there. Yes even someone who has everything.

A very intuitive experience for paintings which were across from different regions. This is my first time visit to kind of these places, definitely a very big space for so many paintings. They have wide variety of wall paintings but the most I liked are some real creative hangings, entrance and exit of each floor, it has 7 floors, open place in the restaurant which has LOVE and a cent figures. They are the best with kids even. They will enjoy too.Bottom line, if you kind of in love with paintings, it is a must visit.

I was debating on buying the VIP tickets but after reading reviews saying it wasnt really worth it, we decided to not do it. There is plenty of people who were really nice and took our pictures for us and we did the same. The SF MoMA has re-opened as of Oct 2020, with timed ticket reservations and reduced to 25% capacity. Its actually really nice to not be crowded and to be able to walk around leisurely at your own pace. We started on the top floor and worked our way down each of the exhibits, with a break for a snack at the 5th floor cafe. This museum does a good job of leading you through each era, with context about each artist displayed in each room and lots of little nuggets about the individual pieces. My favorites were the 360 degree modular tower interpreting future living spaces, the bright and powerful social justice mural, the feeling of music in motion in George Parks cello, and seeing the vast usage of lead as a medium by artists in postwar Germany.

One of San Franciscos must-see destinations, located within walking distance of Union Square. Explore seven floors of an internationally recognized collection of modern and contemporary art. Founded in 1935, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art was the first museum on the West Coast devoted solely to 20th-century art.General admission to the museum is $25. Members (who pay $100 a year) will be allowed free admission, as will visitors 18 and younger. Admission for seniors (65 years and older) is $22, and visitors ages 19-24 (with ID) will pay $19.

EXHIBITIONThe Chronicles of San Francisco by JRMay 23, 2019–May 31, 2020Floor 1, Roberts Family GalleryWhich is Open to Public (easy entrance from Howard St) without tickets to SFMOMA, Floor 1, Roberts Family Gallery is really nice way to unwind if you’re in near by the museum and wanted to sit down and relax indoor. The staircases are perfect spot to rest a bit. Also 18 & under are free to enter. Great way for teenagers who live near. Teens could spend their leisure time here or family could visit with kids for less cost. There are great selection of exhibits to be found in this relatively new 7-story galleries. Always felt having not enough time to see all the exhibits. The balcony at the top floor always impresses me and good place to take some fresh air and sit down to enjoy the hustle of the busy city surrounded.Always find new artists works as well as familiar modern arts.Despite the parking is hard and costly around the museum, we found that it’s a short walk from Mission & 5th Ave garage. However must not leave anything (even a t-shirt in a shopping bag) in your vehicles at parking garages & street parking. We’ve seen broken glasses at curve side and parking garages everywhere near by. Even keeping items in your trunk is not safe as we’ve been told that car burglars to open trunks easily with a tool or lowering back seats after breaking rare side windows.

This was the worst museum I have ever been to. I believe art is a medium that is highly subjective, however, this museums portrayal of art was so bland. Big canvas pieces are nice when they provoke thought. The time I visited the majority of these canvas pieces were one color. Anyone can grab a roller and paint a wall that doesnt make it meaningful or thought-provoking.I will say there are a few stunning works of art there. I found that experience to be too few and too far between. It has been so offensive to me that I have come back months later to leave this review.
