Excellent venue one big open floor with balcony all the way around the floor bar upstairs and downstairs have been there many times for many heavy metal shows Mudvayne Black Label Society Five Finger Death Punch excellent time every time

Nice small-ish venue for seeing live music. Several full bars at the back ($14 for a little gin & tonic) and plenty of nearby restaurants. The bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. Guests pass thru a metal detector to get in. Can be hot & stuffy inside when youre in the middle of the pit. Main floor for concerts is standing room only, lots of balcony seats upstairs.

Quick to get in and they let me enter with just a picture of my ID since I left it at home. Im grateful for that. Had a great time with friends. The music is fast paced and the room was packed with dancing bodies, so it gets pretty hot. BRING A FAN! If a rave is taking place, expect people to be actively smoking weed inside (amongst other things), and drinking.

Nice place but OMG so hot upstairs. Really need fans or windows up there. VIP area wasnt easy to find... after waiting 30 min in line for the security check and another 10 for will-call we were told we had to go out and down the side for the VIP entrance... no signs anywhere! Better organization is also needed.

Still one of the best spots in SF with the most unique and diverse artists. Sat in the balcony for the first time and loved the more relaxed atmosphere without taking anything away from full visibility of the stage and quality of sound. One of the most consistently good and distinctly unique concert spaces in SF.

The regency ballroom is a great place to see a love performance, its not so large that you lose the experience and you really have a great chance to get up close with the bands playing at the show, great job to the staff at the concert (vnv nation) the event went off super smooth, also was another awesome performance by VNV Nation! Always love when they come into town!

Had a fantastic time watching Heilung! Especially when they had the Native Americans come on stage at the beginning to bless the stage and at the end of the show!

It loved this venue, the sound was great, it was easy to navigate within the venue and the ballroom was very pretty. The food was about what youd expect and the drinks were reasonably priced considering.

Ive seen a few concerts here now and its a great venue. If you dont feel like standing you can go up to the balcony.

Concert was great, venue was great. I wish there were more places to sit down but its been a great night so far! I am definitely not writing this while Im taking a break to be off my feet while they are still playing.

I saw Shing02 here, the standing room well used; the stage was super close and the acoustics made for a terrific show. I cant wait for the next show!

Great place where to spend the evening and night. I did visit this place when I was in Frisco and the atmosphere was rocking. There were playing Steel Panther and it was one of the best night of my life. I would recommend everyone to visit this rocking place.

Last night, I took my two daughters and their friends to the Waterparks concert, and it was so fun. I was nervous after purchasing the tickets because of the venue, and parking. But, we parked at the Holiday Inn parking lot. It was literally a two minute walk to the ballroom, and it is on the same side of the street. Their was a bar in the back for the adults that were in attendance, but it was mostly kids. The venue had some seats on the side that were roped off, but most of the tickets sold were floor seat/standing. All in all, we had a great experience.

I dont know why I havent been to more shows here. Great venue, small yet not so tiny youre packed in and cant move. I saw Anti-Flag and they were awesome!From entry, to bar, merchandise tables, and restrooms, Regency has it figured out.Tickets are nicely priced, too!

Took my daughter here to see Cavetown. Parked at Holiday Inn. Quaint and Cozy. Sound was great. I could see my daughter from the back of the room. No seating for parents. Lines were long and doors should have opened earlier to not miss opening acts. The line for merchandise and bathroom were merged. You thought you were in line for merchandise but it was bathroom. That can be easily fixed. After being told no to having parking validated; I asked another employee who did validate. All employees should be trained the same; to provide correct information.

I have never heard of this venue, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of sound and intimacy of the concert setting. It was a great show! I cant wait to see another show at this classic and classy space. The only complaint is the excessively bright advertising sign that ran during the show on the beginning level. This is tacky and unnecessary.

Awesome place to see a show!!! Loved the staff theu stood out. All were so friendly. The security gaurd a very wonderful Lady I cant recall her name but she helped us in ways that I know made an impact on a member in our group and that alone deserves 5 stars. Cant wait to go back.

Great sound and stage! I saw two rock bands and a pop band and the experience was great! The floor is nice and bouncy when the crowd starts dancing. Drinks are pricey but they have decent selection.Pro Tip: sometimes youll enter from the Sutter side, sometimes youll enter from the Van Ness side. Yes, the lines outside do get long, but they move quickly. Security is lax so you can usually casually carry in a water bottle.

Nice venue, staff is always friendly and helpful. The seats are always jammed too close together, so people seem to spread them out. Sound system is dated and sounds muddy but definitely a good place to see live music!

This venue was beautiful. I had the opportunity to visit because I went to see Yotto!!! This was my first time ever going to a electronic event/rave and I had an absolute blast! The venue was beautiful and clean (no smoking!!!). The staff were very nice and helpful and answer all of my questions. Once the music starts playing get ready to dance and expect it to get very warm and humid due to all of the people inside. I would reccomend buying a pair of concert ear plugs prior to arriving to your concert if you are sensitive to loudness or if you care to hear when youre older :)

Vintage music venue right in downtown SF. Mezzanine seating has good views of the stage, or brave the floor with all the kids. Multiple bars, and they have large fans in the back to help keep things cool.

Obviously, your mileage will vary based on what youre doing or seeing but this is a gorgeous old ballroom with gilded ceilings and beaded chandeliers that should be a great venue for anything. Its got many rooms in addition to the ballroom so you can stage it for any purpose.

Well ran, clean, good acoustics. Its an old school ballroom, with balcony seating, if you dont want to be on the floor. Always a pleasure, there.

Fun place to come see your favorite bands! My only problem was that there werent very many seats on the 2nd floor and that some were even detached from the floor.

This spot had great sound need some AC pumping in there cause it gets hot staff was cool setup cool its a nice spot to see a venue.

It is a good venue to see shows at. However it seems like the staff outside overdoes it a bit with *policy*.I would also like to STRONGLY SUGGEST that Regency break off all ties with any agency that permits or encourages people to buy quantities of tickets from you, and then *resell* them at ridiculous theft like prices. Really ? $ 36 becomes $ 113 ?? Really ?.This utterly hurts us who just want to honestly see a show at the prices ORIGINALLY OUTLINED in your site page. This practice is simply put, amoral. It is theft, basically. Utterly ridiculous.

Great place to see a show. Medium-sized space isnt super intimate, but its a good size place to see a national touring act. Alcoholic drinks have a decent selection for a captive audience, prices are ok. Easy to get service for the most part. Non alcoholic beverage selection is good. Might not have the balcony open if they dont sell a lot of tickets.

Great indoor venue! Security was a tad pushy, but the show had run over an hour late, so Im sure that was more because they had to work overtime.

Seen aquabats here and a benefit show rancid had here and venue was great both times. Friendly staff clean enough venue. Will continue to see shows here.

Had amazing time seeing UwU tour. All of the artists threw down and the venue was a bit small for the size of the crowd that showed up. No worries though! The other thing that could be improved was the amount of people cutting in line to get in. I dont usually trip about this kind of stuff but at least 30+ people walked past us and cut around 100 people in line.Great venue! Not the best entry plan.

Went here for a party and the architecture and decor was excellent. The elevator had to be controlled by a person, which was really cool.

Beautiful place for a concert, got to see Aurora there. There is a second level that had a balcony surrounding the place which is convenient for people that want to watch the show seating down. There were plenty of bathrooms and bars. Water fountain too. Easy to get there and there is a parking building pretty close so that makes it easier.

Saw Empire of the Sun here...It was absolutely STIFLING in this venue. I would have honestly preferred to be outside- probably would have enjoyed the show more. It was miserable. Great show though- top notch performers!!!

Not sure if the food was made by regency center or if it was brought in, but I was really impressed with the variety and inclusiveness of various diets. Loved the sustainable plates, dishes and utensils. Staff was really nice and executed seamlessly. Beautiful, historic space.

I really enjoyed this venue. Its intimate, with easy access to bathrooms and the bar. It definitely does get pretty warm inside, so wear something that you can stay cool in. Only had to wait in line for about 10 minutes, so easy access inside after a quick pat down.

What a wonderful place for a wonderful concert, nice chandeliers too ;-) For a non-sold-out event skip the convenience fee and buy tickets at the door.

Lines were short to go into, Security was great, venue was great. Wish there were some seating but besides that everything else is great

Venue is nice. Need more bathrooms but, its a very old building (1906) and would need renovations in order to make that happen. Sound is pretty good. Security was great. Very nice and helpful. Security is usually the complete opposite. I was pleased.

Current ownership and management of this once acclaimed venue has turned the Recency into The tweeker snitch rat roadrash hotel and ballroom. Synonymous. Very sad. Also poor fire and safety code standards currently. Death trap, LITERALLY.

Great acoustics and old city vibe. Not tons of homeless around immediately outside like other SF venues

Great place for concerts

Ive attended many concerts at The Regency and theyre a pretty good venue. Plenty of room with a balcony, but not too big so theres not really a bad spot. Youll always be pretty close to the stage wherever you are. The once in you cant leave and come back policy is annoying sometimes, but common I guess. They have ear plugs available at the coat check for $2 if you need.

Intimate theater that has a lovely atmosphere, saw Aurora here and was a wonderful show. Good sight lines from any seat in the balcony. There are a lot of places to eat and drink within walking distance, it is a nice convenient place to catch a show.

An amazing and beautiful location. Parking is close too.

Five stars for history and my love for putting SF and its music scene on the map, cira 1960. Chet Helms ran it and produced some fabulous shows which basically tore the roof off the MF! The Regency was ground zero for the counter cultural movement/Revolution. My pic is from the White party, Burning Mans largest sound camp, Opulent Temple - OT.

Awesome, great venue

Due to misinformation concerning box office hours, lack of care, lack of response from an email I sent. We have decided to not come spend money here and went to see a band at a venue near by on their tour.The box office is wack and I went an hour after a show began, which is when the web site said it was open. I was told it was closed. I emailed, no response. Sorry regency ballroom sf, you lost money. Maybe fix your business model. I would have spent 200 on Booz that night.

Went to go see Starset, the venue was a good size for the amount of people that were there. No complaints

So, everything was fine. Security, restrooms, concessions, venue overall was ok. My only complaint was the overwhelming heat inside. The venue is really tall, the main floor must have been 100 degrees or more. Everyone was sweating like crazy. They have some fans but that does not help. They need some serious ventilation in there. If I where to return, I would bring a towel to dry my face with.

I I enjoy working in going to the Regency ballroom it’s a beautiful Historical building the architect is beautiful and they have really good events here

Just went to see mac ayres and he was amazingggg. but i love how the venue is set up its so intimate and i love the vibe it gives off. the lower floor is all standing but there is a top floor with seating. also, the bathrooms were pretty clean which is a plus for me lol.

Smaller Venue but good music hall. Decent stage with enough room to Mosh on the Floor. I didnt get to see the upstairs though. I would defiantly go back. Just waiting for the next show.

I attended the Dance Gavin Dance concert on March 31st. The seating on the second level was great and allowed us to get away from all the movement downstairs. Overall a great venue

Nice staff, but the venue, not so much. Beautiful old building but terrible ventilation, extremely hot, muggy, and stinky!!! People were even getting sick. They really need to figure out the air circulation!

I truly enjoyed the elegant decor and customer service at The Regency Ballroom during Victor Manuelles concert last time he came over to San Francisco, I danced all night long!The staff was super-friendly and made us feel comfortable all the time.I will definitely go back to any other concert in this venue.

Took my son to a death metal concert here and it was awesome! Not being from the city it was easy to find, plenty of parking garages in the area and we were lucky to find one 2 blocks away that only charged $10 for the entire night, the venue was nice, bathrooms clean and stocked, the staff were friendly, didnt think the bar was stocked well enough...only 3 beers to pick from and was a little pricey but overall its great place to go and the atmosphere is awesome!

Went to see ghostemane on the 23rd and the artist and performances were great but the venue was terrible. Extremely hot inside and the staff is no help, I had fainted and the staff were no help at all with trying to help me out or find water.

Small, intimate venue. Good vibe. Serves beer, wine, and hard liquor. Staff were awesome the night we were there. Parking at the Holiday Inn, as recommended by the venue, was a total breeze.

Great sound system, friendly staff. Will return!
