A beautifully situated cemetery with great views of the Wasatch Mountains, Salt Lake City, and the University of Utah. This serves as the final resting place for many leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including most of the presidents of the church, as well as many church apostles. A lot of history preserved in the cemetery.

It’s an incredibly historic and beautiful cemetery. It’s a fun place to do a scavenger hunt for the gravestone of the prophets of the LDS church. You have an incredible view of the valley at several spots through the cemetery. It’s just a beautiful and peaceful place to take a stroll on a relaxing afternoon.

Walking through the historical burial sites is wildly interesting and truly tells a story. Seek out some of the interesting stones and youll likely also discover a large herd of deer that occupy the grounds. I really enjoy walking around here seeking out the stories that abound here.

Beautiful location in the historic avenues of SLC. Theres the catholic cemetery adjacent to the public cemetery. Beautiful trees and very well kept. Every grave marker is a history lesson. A peaceful place to contemplate life and recharge for the afternoon.

Utah history buffs will enjoy seeing prominent Utah leaders who are burried here. It would be nice if the sections of the cemetery are marked (like the map). The map system is difficult to understand and no explanations to how plot numbers are found

My Dad is buried in the upper Veterans section. Nobody cares for the Veterans section. Many of the older grave markers in the ground for distant war casualties are long forgotten, overgrown at the edges. I go twice a year to clean up my Dads headstone and pay my respects. Usually on Memorial Day Sunday when is quiet nobody having their picnics in the other sections. Clean up the bird poop on the Bird Colonels gravestone. He isnt actually buried there in a casket. Just some ashes in a vial.

Walk back into Utah pioneer history and visit this cemetery. This gravesite is for Joseph Standing, who was a missionary murdered in Georgia. There’s no death date, but only a recovery date of the body July 21, 1879. Take the time to read all four sides of this marker.

This is a really nice cemetery. I’ve been buried here for about 30 years now. When I first got here it was a bit cramped but you get used to it after a few years. I brought a lot of my valuables with me (my family thought I was crazy) but I’m glad I did because I literally sleep on my money every night, it’s very luxurious. I always thought tiny homes were kind of a joke but I like mine. The soil is nice and moist, filled with lots of sub-terranean life. I get visitors every once in a while (usually worms and ants) and they don’t really bother you as long as all your flesh is gone. Mine rotted and shriveled off years ago so they pretty much leave me alone. It’s VERY quiet (not like some other cemeteries I know) and most people keep to themselves. Every once in a while one of Satan’s angry spirits gets inside someone and gets out, but management is good about stopping them and putting them in the cremo.Pets are allowed as long as they can fit in with you. There is no additional pet fee which is great. There’s is supposedly a real nice clubhouse close by but I haven’t had a chance to go there yet cause I’m kind of a homebody. There’s not a lot of light, which for me is great because my eye balls have already rotted out so I can’t see much anyways. We’re really close to some major famous people, but I haven’t seen any of them around yet, most people here keep to themselves. If I could make one small change, it would be less moaning at night. We have a lot of throat-moaners and it makes it hard to sleep sometimes. I pretend it’s the wind and that really helps. If you’re looking for a good place to die, this would be my recommendation.

Nice place, interesting tombstones. Certainly, the crematorium is interesting. But for me the most meaningful thing in it, was the Christmas Box Angel, for children died at an early age. I organized there a vigil for a Turkish boy, shot by the police, and died a few months later.

Very special and unique cemetery. I came here a few times with a date. It is peaceful and inspiring. So many prophets of God are resting here. It is truly a blessing to walk in this sacred ground. I loved how Elder Neal A. Maxwell graveyard stone is so simple and equal to any other person buried here, even though he was a spiritual giant!

This place is peaceful but rather plain. In spite of that, its an interesting cemetery with many old headstones and graves. For those of the Morman faith this cemetery is significant and a should see because of many church leaders buried here. For those interested in history, its definitely got its fair share. One interesting headstone, the grave of LILLY E. GRAY born June 6, 1881 and died on November 14, 1958. Her epitaph reads, VICTIM OF THE BEAST 666.One word of warning: Never drive the cemetery roads at night or when it is raining! There are massive potholes that will destroy your vehicle.Visited February 2, 2018.

The premier cemetery in the state (if a cemetery could be considered premier). It is large with well maintained grounds, beautiful mausoleums, and plenty of local history. If you arent creeped out by graves, it is actually a beautiful place to walk around in and pay respects to the deceased.

Some really beautiful headstones. We saw the grave of Frances Monson, President Monsons dear wife. It was really pretty. A lot of early Mormon leaders are buried there, like David O. Mckay, and many others. He also saw a family of foxes throughout the cemetery. It was fun. The kids even liked it.
