If you want to go back in time to an era when Catholic churches were religious artistry all around, from the architectural design, the details that gave it character to the paintings on the wall and ceilings which reinforced the true faith of Christianity as a painted story, the beauty of its stained-glass windows, this is a church I was happy to have visited! It reminds me of why I am a catholic and will remain until I die! In the present times, we need to be reminded of a time when man wanted to please its creator through these expressions of faith and inspire others after seeing its beauty!

This place is really cool as a cathedral. The architecture is very pristine. They have the gargoyles on the towers and the amount of color inside the chapel. This place is a really cool historic building that you should go visit. Even if you just go in to listen to the music it is a very pleasant experience

They were able to give my father last rights when the hospital wouldnt even consider his right to last rights through the Catholic Church. IMC charge nurse on duty about 3:30 pm in ICU WAS SO RUDE , And father Dominic talked to her and treated my father with the dignity he deserves, so thank you Father Dominic. God bless you. And your timely arrival before my father passed away.

Im a parishioner here. Its a very welcoming community. The Cathedral Choir School children often sing for mass, which is truly astounding. The organ music is also phenomenal. Some of the mass times can run long (an hour fifteen) because of the music, but its worth it. After the 11am mass on Sundays there are donuts and coffee downstairs to encourage community.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Cathedral!!! I come here whenever I need solitude to pray and can sit in their candle room, light a candle for someone and then pray for them or pray for my own strength. Such beautiful stained glass, you can also walk into the chapel and sit and pray ... everyone is very respectful and quiet. Sometimes they play the organ and sometimes they start a ceremony (in English or Spanish). Im not a Catholic but i still find comfort in coming here to pray and find hope.

The only Beautiful Cathedral in the state of Utah! I have been coming here since the mid 80s when we had Bishop Weigand. Since the 90s, they have really done a lot of restoration work inside and outside of the church. Parking can be tricky here and can be limited, so it is advised to come early. To the north of the church, there is a small lot for free church parking. Also, on the weekends, there is free street parking.

They have one of the most beautiful Catholic choirs I have ever heard. When the Bishop is present for services, usually holidays, he fills the church with laughter and it is lovely. This cathedral is not a typical looking cathedral in the sense that it does not have intricate stone carvings, or gold leaf everywhere, instead it is fairly modest looking in both size and aesthetics. However, the people and the choir easily make up for the lack of sparkle in the church. The choir is angelic and brings me to tears every time as it is spiritually moving in a big way. I do wish they had weekday noon mass. In Denver, I went to noon mass at the cathedral almost everyday and it helped me through some really difficult times. I wish that they would do that in SLC. I get that the Mormons are a huge part of the population, but we should have at least one church that offers this type of service for those of us that chose to spend lunch hour in the house of God. Even if it was just once a week on Wednesday, it would be better than nothing. I highly recommend attending high mass so that you can celebrate your faith through the incredible choir. It is life changing, soul lifting, and they will make you want to jump out of the pew and applause like crazy.

The building is very beautiful and has a rich history. My husband is Catholic so we decided to stay for mass. The organ, while beautiful, was usually much too loud. We could not hear the Cantor while the organ was playing which was sad as he had a lovely voice. The homily was stuffy and not at all accessible. I was actually quite depressed at the end rather than uplifted. My advice would be to take the tour, but go somewhere else to celebrate mass. Here it was more like a too-loud funeral.
