Generations of family gatherings here, a special place in my heart Also great for a quick visit, to connect with nature.. Breathe.Take a walk. Look up at the beautiful canopy of old oaks and note the various wildlife skittering amongst the branches. Climb the beautiful curving stone stairway to the top of the indian mound, discover a breathtaking view of the water and the park itself. Then the dirt path where you feel embraced by old Florida.. oaks, palms and brush inhabited by butterflies, birds and squirrels that cross your path as you make your way to the beach area. A few sandy openings with benches and random sightings of dolphins, cranes, horseshoe and hermit crabs.. on a good day a sandbar that ensures a squishy fun adventure out further, to add to your feeling of distance from the monotony of everyday. On the way back be sure to note the openings on the tree trunks. Owls, woodpeckers and even lizards, busy in their day, may peek out at you.All too often we get distracted. Here, only take out the phone to take pictures. So you can recall your visit. No matter how many times Ive come l always find something to be in awe of.

One of my favorite parks. The bluffs coming off old tampa bay make for relaxing walks and beautiful views. Fantastic place to rent a pavilion for a party or outdoor wedding. There is a boat ramp near the entrance and some small beach areas near the back of the park. You will not be disappointed.

The most beautiful park Ive ever been to, and in my opinion, much better than John Chestnut Park! The stone steps and the pavilions are nice and the trees are perfect to take pictures at. There is plenty of places to sit by the water or have a whole picnic with friends and family near the water. Parking is very accesible!

Beautiful park with something for everyone. We went today, which is a Sunday and got there around 11:30 and it was pretty well packed. If you want to avoid crowds go on a weekday. If you need a shelter on the weekend get there by 8 or 9am or you probably wont get one. There is a boat ramp, fishing, a park and also a kids play rock area, bike and walking trails, views of the bay, a Native American Tocobaga mound and more. We parked at the very end of the park on the south side by the mangroves to eat our lunch. Beautiful grounds and when the breeze is there it is even more heavenly. There are several bathrooms and there are picnic tables that are not covered.

Philippe Park is one of the hidden gems on this side of the Bay. Ive grown up here and the charm of it is still here, 30 years later.Theres plenty to do here for all types of people. Theres a boat ramp for smaller boats or jet skis (its a little small and can fill up fast, so be prepared on more popular days like weekends/holidays).Theres quite a few shelters around with lots of bathrooms available. These are great for throwing parties, get-togethers, whatever youd like to do.If youre more interested in hiking/walking, theres a trail that goes on for a while that you can walk all along the water or along the main road with paths to walk on so youre not in the road specifically. A lot of people ride their bikes, walk, or even rollerskate. If kayaking or canoeing is your thing, theres lots of little water entrances where you can park and go.Even if you just want to spend the day here to relax, enjoy some food, or bask in the shade, theres plenty of picnic tables or areas where you can setup your own picnic blanket or chairs. If youre interested in the historical part of this park, theres a couple areas that are fun to explore, but its something you should stumble upon yourself, in my opinion. No matter what you enjoy, its a great place to be. Just remember to pick up after yourself and keep our city beautiful.

A beautiful and big park! Plenty of places to walk around and enjoy the nature. We ended up there close to sunset time and went all around the paths and by the baseball field. When the light from the day was almost gone, we ended up stumbling upon the cobblestone hills! They were my favorite park – perfect for taking pictures and taking in the scenery.

The park runs along the upper end of Old Tampa Bay and provides many places to sit and relax to enjoy beautiful water views and possibly spot a dolphin of two. The historic Tocoboga Indian Mound is a perfect place to reflect and separate yourself from the daily distractions. The stairs to the Mound offers several perfect picture taking backdrops as well as a great place to get some exercise.

I brought my 24 foot boat out to the boat ramp here, I purchased my boat+trailer parking permit like you’re supposed to and I parked my truck and trailer in the approved parking spots. The lot was not full so I angled my trailer slightly in the spot next to me to be courteous and not block the right of way in the boat and trailer lot. I figured it was the polite thing to do. Sure enough after a beautiful day on the boat I get back to my truck at the ramp and there’s a ticket on my window. Remember I have a 24 foot boat it’s not some giant boat! COME ON guys I paid for my parking and I was courteous and you give me a ticket. I’ll never ever go back to this park. I saw the park patrol guy going around hassling people at picnic table and shelters as well. Stay far away if you want to have a pleasant day! Plenty of other awesome parks to visit in Pinellas County!

Have loved Philippe Park since 1984! Beautiful Serene peaceful and on the water. Picnic sites and restrooms are great. playgrounds are wonderful for the kids. And you must visit the Indian burial grounds on the Magic Mountain! The old folks say that this area of Safety Harbor is protected because of those Indian burial grounds and I have witnessed storms turning away from us in the past. Just saying! You can reserve and rent the picnic sites and there is also a dock in the park if you want to put your boat out in the Tampa Bay. Must see place and I highly recommend seeing it!
