Didomizio art center is my happy place. Chris is the most gifted teacher I have ever had. In one year, I went from not being able to draw stuck figures to entering a piece in a local art show. Chris makes learning to draw and paint super easy. He walks you through step by step. His studio is the most learning rich environment I have ever been in.

I have attended drawing and oil painting classes with Chris for the last year. I am amazed at what I have learned from him. He teaches from an extensive knowledge, experience, and great talent that he shares with his students. It opened my vision of what I can do and improve in my art. I highly recommend his programs.

I have dabbled in drawing and painting over the years but only recently realized that art is something that I want to do with my life after noticing its always the one thing I come back to regardless of what else is going on in my life. Since I have never really had a formal art education before, learning what I do know mostly from books, online videos, and experimentation, I wanted an in-person class that would focus heavily on art fundamentals to fill in the wide gaps in my informal education.I recently signed up for Chriss class as a result, and so far Ive been very impressed and it has been everything Ive hoped for. The information taught is consistent with what Ive seen elsewhere but far more in-depth, thoroughly explained with examples, and the information is more organized. Chris has been very friendly and has readily answered any questions Ive had. He does go around the class helping different people because some people are doing beginning drawing, some people are doing more advanced painting, and people are allowed to go at their own pace, but he seems to spread his attention between students well, and sometimes calls people of all skill levels over for painting demos so that students can see how the beginning exercises are relevant in more advanced painting projects.Chris does talk some about his life, but its more in the context of two-way voluntary conversations in which some students choose talk about their own lives as well while we work, after he has already gotten us started on the exercises or projects for the day.I personally wanted a more solid grasp of art fundamentals before painting instruction, but I have gotten the impression that Chris will reluctantly let people paint even on the first day if thats what they want.The reason he highly encourages people to go through the drawing portion of the course first is because it lays a solid foundation for painting. While doing the drawing portion, students use graphite and charcoal to learn good habits, skills, and concepts that also apply to painting such as value, proportion, and perspective, without ALSO being bogged down by concepts like color theory at the same time. I think in our fast-paced, instant gratification culture, some people expect the art equivalent of running a marathon in the Olympics when they havent even bothered to learn how to walk yet.

I have been taking class with Chris for over a year now. He is such a talented artist and dedicated teacher! He has a proven program with students who are now world class artists.When I first started, I had taken acrylic classes for a couple years and I was excited to jump into oils. Chris recommended that I slow down and focus on traditional drawing exercises that would be beneficial and applicable to painting principles. I have to say that drawing takes a lot of time and dedication but I’m so glad that I completed the drawing program because my ability has grown so much. In the meantime, Chris began offering a beginners’ painting class which I joined. Taking both the drawing class and the beginner painting class really developed the concepts I was learning in the drawing class by applying them in the painting class.I’m so glad I found this class! Take the time to be your best, you won’t regret it!

This is the most amazing art class. My daughter and I drive over an hour once a week to receive what we feel is the BEST art instructions available in Atlanta area if not the who world! I am learning how to tell my story through my art. I am learning how to use beautiful color in my painting because Chris teaches color excellently!I recommend this class to both beginners and advanced painters. Chris really teaches you the fundamentals of becoming an artist. I havent picked up a pencil to draw in over 20 years. Ive had no training coming into this class, but I cant believe what Ive been able to accomplish. When he says anyone can learn to draw and paint he means it. If you want to get serious about your artwork then this class is for you.

I am amazed at what Im doing! I havent done art for 35 years and didnt know if I could anymore. Chris has taken me back to fundamentals and is laying a really solid foundation. His hands on teaching technique (for all levels) and classroom demos are outstanding. He is putting tools into my hands, step by step, that are giving me the confidence that I can do this. Wow. Chris is a wonderful teacher who I believe is one of the best in the country. I have been in this class for years and am still learning. His class has taught me the value of learning practical tools that help my own art. Everyone gets to work at their own speed and level of ability while observing high levels around them. I think Chris is an amazing art teacher. After going to his class close to 9 years I see art pieces with a different set of eyes, trained eyes. There is a lot of information flowing during Chris classes and to a new student it may be overwhelming. However, it is all so worth it. All you need to have is desire to learn art and patience. Yes, patience. It is not one of those sip and stroke places where you put some paint on canvas and call it art. This class is about truly mastering the skill that may stay with you for the rest of your life; if anything, as an outlet that uplifts you. If you are ready for your weekly wax on - wax off sessions (Karate Kid Movie) you are for a big reward at the end. Kids classes are also simply wonderful. Thank you, Chris, for having your studio.

I have recently started drawing classes with Chris and have learned more than any other class I have taken in such a short period of time. I am a beginner but feel I can now start painting with more knowledge! He plays great music and keeps it light. He is able to instruct students on various levels which is cool because you can pick up new tidbits of knowledge from more advanced artists. If youve always wanted to be an artist, dont put it off.

Highly recommend this Art Center! My daughter has been attending this center for 4 months now. Her love and art skills have improved immensely. Mrs Erin is one of the most passionate and knowledgeable teachers I have ever come across. You truly can see her love for what she does.

I am a true beginner. Chris is teaching me tools to use to draw in a way that I never thought possible. He is very patient. If you want a quality art studio that teaches you from the very beginning this is your place! My family has been very impressed with what I have learned so far!

The instruction is worth the drive for anyone in search of help learning art. Not unheard of for students to drive 2.5 hours into class. Majority of students will drive over an hour one way to take his classes.

I started taking classes from Chris in 2005 as a beginning student. Chris is an excellent instructor and a wonderful and gifted artist. He continues to study art theory and various techniques which he pass on to us. Chris teaches beginners as well as professional artists. The minute I walked into Chris DiDomizios Art Center, I knew that I wanted to take his art classes. I had never had the opportunity to take classes previously but I immediately saw the quality of his students art work and I was hooked.I did not know how to draw or paint. Chris has classes for beginners, which I was, but also teaches accomplished artists. I immediately signed up, that was almost three years ago.His teaching methods are infallible. When I show friends my work, they always say the same thing I could never learn to do that. My reply is always the same, Chris is such an incredible teacher that he could teach an ant to draw and paint. Quite simply put, I think that he is a genius at what he does.Chris also holds special workshops on everything from color theory to how to paint a portrait. He has so much knowledge to share that I try to take every class that I can.In my opinion, you would have to take a lot of classes from a lot of different teachers to gain the knowledge that you get from Chris.

I love this class! My mom and I drive over an hour to come once a week. Ive taken art classes my whole life and Chris is the first teacher who connected all the pieces for me. Many teachers would tell me something was missing from my art but they never could tell me what was missing until I met Chris and he taught me how to tell a story through my art.

I started in the class when I was 12 and have now been in the program for four years. It has been the most educational art class I have ever attended, hands down. Chris is an excellent teacher and artist, and his teaching method is very effective! You dont have to be talented to be good at art, a desire to learn does the trick just as well.

The instructor likes to talk about composition, but rarely demonstrates any techniques. He will find excuses if you request him to show how to do, that he just lectured. To me it was waste of time and money. I have read many composition books. I went there to learn painting techniques. How pros do it. That was totally missing.

When I started classes I drew competently but had never painted- after 3 years of classes with Chris I feel ready to sell my drawings and paintings professionally. A real education experience for the serious student.

He will take your money no problem. Beware if you need help or ask questions. The good reviews have to be from the few he likes to help. He is impatient and LOVES to spend as much time talking about himself as possible. I sure can not find any supporting evidence from some of his personal comment about his accomplishments... I have watched him berate and put down people. The only reason I hung around is that he provides the only classical training I can find in north Georgia.

I just completed a two day workshop with Chris on Color Schemes. I have had color classes before and know the importance of the right colors, but this class brought it all together to show me what I have been doing wrong in my previous paintings. I cant wait to practice the valuable information I got in the class and improve my oil paintings.Chris class goes into so much more depth than the normal painting classes. He is an outstanding artist and his techniques are amazing. You dont get the run-of-the-mill painting when you use the techniques that Chris teaches.I also take Chris weekly classes where I started in the drawing program. It has improved my drawing exponentially and Im not finished with the drawing program yet. I cant wait to get into his painting classes to learn methods to better art.I would definitely recommend Chris DiDomizios art classes to anyone. If you are a beginner, great. Chris will teach you the right way from the start. If you are a seasoned artist, you will begin to understand the hows and whys of making better paintings.

I’ve been a student of Chris diDomizio at the diDomizio Arts Center for 2 years. His approach to teaching gives you the confidence and knowledge to tackle any art style you want to do. His program includes tools and exercises that trains your eye, improves your touch and strengthens your overall creative decision making. I have been studying with Chris for 5+ years. And I will contiue to do so because I find his goal is to make his students successful and he ensures this by providing his students with exercises that help them practice and master the skills and techniques of art.
