I went there recently. It was amazing. Please go there if you have a chance. I love it there. My uncle runs the artist in residence place in Roswell. There are paintings and things from The Artist-in-Residence people.

First of all this place was FREE, I was like what??? It took me two hours to go through, so much knowledge and art in here you almost need a full day. They have little projects set up in a few rooms for families or adults to draw, or make your own art. Pretty cool if you have little ones not wanting to walk around with you. A big display on Goddards missile and a whole room set up like his workshop. A must see!

A great museum with a lot of interest. I really like Peter Moran drawings and watercolors of Pueblos. The whole Moran family seems to have been talented artists. Interesting exhibit on Goddards rocketry.

A must attend if you are there for the history and want to know the story of the landing. The original.press release can be heard in the museum as well as many testimonials that were given before they were told to retract them

This Museum offers displays of historical objects, fine art exhibitions and art related classes. I would expect the average visitor to spend between 45min to 2 hours in the museum. It has a nice gift shop with Native American jewelry, books and local art. The museums art collection focuses on modern and contemporary artists mostly from the Southwest. It also has a unique collection of objects from Robert H. Goddard a rocket pioneer and Rodgers Aston collection of the American West. The museum was founded in 1937 and was a WPA works project to serve as a cultural hub for the region. Important to note that the Roswell museum and art center was founded 10 years before the now famous incident but doesnt have displays related to that event. The museum has had many additions over the years including a impressive ceramics studio, planetarium, auditorium and court yard with outdoor sculptures and a rocket tower!

If youre an alien and Roswell fanatic you will love this place more than life itself. The average person will enjoy this place very much also but for the diehards this is like graceland.

I visited this Museum to see Robert Goddards workshop. I was blown away. The museum is large, lots of interesting art, historical artifacts, a neat gun collection and a planetarium. Guess what? ITS FREE. You can give them a donation, no one will twist your arm. Its a beautiful place that deserves attention. If youre looking for something to do in Roswell, please visit this place. I loved it.

Need a real museum after looking at UFOs? Come here for some excellent art AND science. The center is free, and has both art and exhibits on Robert Goddard, father of rocketry. Check out a display of his workshop, and go outside to see a sculpture of Goddard getting ready to launch a rocket. Im not usually an art person, but I really enjoyed the variety of art on display, both by local artists and artists that have done a residency in Roswell in the past. Theres art to please everyones tastes. This was a much more enjoyable and satisfying experience than the UFO museum, and was the highlight of my visit to Roswell.

The Roswell Museum and Art Center isn’t just about collections of paintings and artworks, the place also houses a reinterpretation of Dr. Robert Goddard‘s work shop. Goddard is considered the Father of Space Age. In his 12 years of stay in Roswell, New Mexico he and his crew experimented on rocket launch control, tracking, and recovery. According to the museum, seventeen of fifty-six flights accomplished in Roswell reached altitudes of over 1,000 feet.Dr. Goddard died on August 10, 1945.

This should definitely be high on your list of places to visit while in Roswell. The Goddard exhibit is very interesting, their Native American collection is packed, the Apollo Mission/moon exhibit is small but informative and their art collection is engaging. Would be five stars but (with the exception of the volunteer? in the gift shop) the staff is not welcoming at all...

This musuem is the best that I have visited in a small town. If you are into early developments of the modern rocket or the early cowboy and plains Indians it would be time well spent to visit.

Located off Main Street, parking is behind the Civic Center/Chamber.The museum and art center are not great for kids. Definitely more of an adult venue. Nothing at all hands on, just walk and observe, but much of the art is out/exposed and could easily be touched so itd be tough for kids to succeed. The art and museum are intertwined so its a nice switch back and forth. It is free and the art and artifacts are enjoyable.

Having traveled all over the country visiting art museums I had very little expectations going into the RMAC however the art was well curated and an interesting assortment of artists. I was unable to see a large portion of the gallery because myself and my family were accosted by the security team. Apparently my 3 year old niece who couldnt run if she wanted too must have taken too big of steps, because in their eyes she was running. Honestly I believe from the moment we walked in we became victims of bullying and were targeted. The security guard looked at us in disgust as we entered and we were treated like second class citizens. I assure you that we are anything but second class, we were all dressed appropriately and our family acted appropriately within the museum. The security team needs to be retrained on the proper treatment of guests or the RMAC needs to institute a no children policy because obviously in the 15 mins we were there we were NOT welcome. As a major contributor to the arts and a new resident of Roswell I now know where I will NOT be contributing too.
