The Laurent House is worth the visit! Its incredible to see the space with your own eyes. What was always amazing about Frank Lloyd Wrights work is how form meets function. Aesthetically pleasing and functionally thoughtful, this specific house is one of the only he built with wheelchair accessibility as an objective. From the carport that was an add-on to the way the drawer doors drop down and the hanger pole in the closet is at a lower convenient height, and so many more things, not to mention the lighting and upholstery and wooden walls (with a unique design of their own), this house is probably the most thoughtful Ive ever seen for someone in a wheelchair. Recommend for anyone - also, we went during COVID and they enforced masks and it was a small group for the tour...and the tour guide was a former architect himself, with a passion for Frank Lloyed Wright, so he was able to answer all questions thoroughly.

This is an excellent home demonstrating Frank Lloyd Wrights ability with this house design.Easily accessible in Rockford, the ownership of this treasure have preserved much of its features and while performing amazing restoration work that is worth the time and money to visit. Our docents for our tour were very knowledgeable and passionate about this particular house and Frank Lloyd Wright in general.

Hidden in a suburban neighborhood, this little gem (Wrights term) is just that. Basically billed as Wrights only home designed for a disabled client, it is that and so much more. A Usonian half semi-circle whose arc was scribed from a local cherry tree, the vison, materials, methods and lasting preservation are well worth your time.Additionally, the depth of knowledge your docent will provide will expand your own while and be entertaining at the same time.If you visit, call first to set up your visit, there wasnt anyone there when we drove up. However, staff who answered the phone quickly set up a time for the docent to meet us there at a time that was convenient for us.Well worth your time and money, if you are a Wright fan or just into mid-century architecture.
