Havent been here since the third grade. Makes me feel like Im history... Lol. But its a great museum with many great exhibits, the main draw being Jane, the midst complete adolescent T-Rex unearthed to date. Its definitely a good place to take kids and to learn more about the history of the world.

This is an amazing museum with so much to do. There are four levels of amazing displays and interactive centers. The dinosaur displays are so cool. Its pretty amazing to see an almost fully complete T-rex. The Triceratops display is also amazing, I didnt realize there were some many dinosaurs in the Triceratops family. Being able to interact with some of the lizards they had was so cool. There arent many places that bring the animals out of their enclosures and let you touch them. The Argentinean Tegu was so cool to see. They also have very detailed displays on a lot of the local native American history and Rockford mining. This is one of the best museums Ive been to and I could have spent all day here. I highly recommend coming here, I know Ill be coming back.

Easy to get to off of I-90. The museum is open and has an impressive collection of artifacts from around the world. And as a bonus, a great view of the Rock River if you walk around the back of the museum. Friendly knowledgeable staff and onsite parking make this a great spot for the family.

Great place to look at dinosaur and other exhibits. Also not as pricey as city prices also without the expensive parking. The place is never crowded and even though it has places being remodeled. Their are still tons of stuff to explore also it is located by there river so amazing view from the second floor by the native American section. Try out the canoe while checking out the view.

We decided to bring our almost five year old in to see the dinosaurs and we were not disappointed! Our favorite exhibit ended up being the reptiles and amphibians -- Rocky the nearly 200lb tortoise that you can pet was amazing to see and definitely a highlight! Courtney and the rest of the staff were so nice and really cared about making our visit special! If give 10 stars if I could!

Fantastic museum, great exibits. As a kid I remember meeting and talking with real paleontologists. They still do those events and its a super cool experience for everyone. The fossils are spectacular, Jane most notable among the bunch. My kids were in awe at the size of the mosasaurus fossil that was hanging from ceiling in the water exibit when there. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Excellent exhibits packed in a small space. Three floors with elevator access. Will keep a wide age range interested. Well worth the small entry fee. Located on a one way street approach slowly so you dont miss the parking lot, the first entrance is directly across from the Butera Law Offices. Gift shop prices are very reasonable as well.

The Burpee Museum has gained international acclaim for its dinosaur, Jane which is the most complete skeleton of a juvenile T-Rex ever found. There are a host of exhibits that take you back in time to what Illinois was like across the ages right up to present day. We are fortunate to have a resource like this locally. There are all kinds of activities for kids with the proximity to the discover center. In recent years the Museum has seen a lot of investment and improvements and its is definitely one of the top cultural attractions in the area. They provide a lot of activities and field trips that you can get involved in.

I had a birthday party for my 8 year old here. It was a last minute decision but this did not effect the great service I received. Rhonda was very helpful in making sure I knew every option that was available during the planning process. On the day of the actual party, everything went off without a hitch. We all had a great time. Kevin, the young man who brought in animals for the children to see was amazing! He was very knowledgeable about the animals and made the presentation interesting as well as funny. I have already suggested this venue for a birthday party for several people.

My granddaughters birthday party was held here, and it was totally amazing! They are actually able to bring up small reptiles for the children to hold oh, it was just a cool experience! I know you pay extra for that, but it is so worth it. The guy that helped us that day with the animals and everything what was an amazing person! Parking is readily available in the adjacent parking lot. You could also take the elevator if you cant make it up the stairs so it appears to be handicapped-accessible. Very good experience!

We spent Mothers day with our kids, their spouses, and grandson. What a wonderful time we had there. Our grandson is 2 and he is into anything dinosaurs. He lit up as soon as he saw the Mammoth skeleton just inside the front door. He loved Jane and the other skeletons and replicas of animals and fossils and stuffed creatures of all types. But there is no doubt that he liked Homer the best. Great place for the family to spend a cool overcast day or any day. You know the 2 year old had a great time when he had to go back through to say bye to Jane and Homer. What a wonderful informative display for all ages. This is a wonderful gem for all to see. It is well kept up and clean. My hats off to all that work there and the marvelous work they do

The Burpee Museum has many excellent fossils from dinosaurs, including one of the most complete juvenile trex skeletons in the world, to the mammoth and lake animal and plant life.On top of that there is a nice section on minerals and a section on animals, insects, and arachnids many indigenous to the area and a few cool exotics. The native American section is nicely done with some examples of housing, clothing, crafts, and daily life. There is an outdoor, riverside amphitheater for the warmer months and a nice conference hall with catering kitchen amenities. There are many exhibitions in other large rooms throughout the year ranging from ancient sea life to living arachnids and lizards, some of which are always on display. There are many opportunities to touch various items and several more interactive areas for children. In the lower level you can see into the room where staff work on the fossils brought back from the museum led fossil hunting expeditions and even interact to learn more about what they are doing/working on.
