The museum is not open. Theres some fun dinosaur fixtures which was fun for my 3 year old dinosaur fanatic. And my 6 year old loved the hike and adventure to get them. We kept walking in circles in the cactus garden which made the little stroll more exciting. There was a gift shop and some turtles which is where we stopped and started. They offer a tour that takes you to see some other dinosaur installations. We followed the tour guide as far as we were allowed. There are a few up there like a trex and pterodactyl. Not sure if it is worth it. I didnt feel like walking back to the gift shop signup. Plus we would have to wait for the next tour, and with such little to do to occupy us there, we didnt do it. I would go back if the kids asked or if we wanted to go for a walk with a different scenery than the usual.

This is a very worthy place for a couple of hours drop-by, if you are on the way to go somewhere else. Right off the 60 freeway. Must visit the Nursery, particularly for the desert plants. No sell pressure - lot of knowledge.

I visited the Jurupa Mountains Discovery center for family photos. I posted some of my photos on the maps for others to see for themselves. It was quiet and pristine when I visited on a Sunday afternoon. There is a nursery on site with knowledgeable staff to help select among a pretty decent selection of plants. It didnt cost anything to drive up and start exploring. I highly recommend if you want to be outdoors for a free afternoon.

Ive been living in the IE for 18 years now and this is the first time Ive been here. Took the family to do a little exploring and some photography. No payment on admission but you can donate in the gift shop. There are a few short walks through some cacti and several gardens. I purchased a few succulents from the nursery onsite in support of small business. Will be coming back in the future.

I went on three field trips here as a kid. Loved it as an adult. The best part of the tour is the 12 rocks you can collect. Its much harder now that im over 5 feet away from the ground as opposed to 3 feet as a kindergartner but still recommend.

We had such a fun time at Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center! We’ve noticed the sign as you drive by the enormous metal Wooly Mammoth up on the hillside, but today was the first time we were able to stop. There are 4 different sections. The main “office” has a store, live animals and a lot of beautiful taxidermy. They have snakes, lizards, bugs and more. Outside there is a pen with various types of large tortoises. The gentleman who worked there was super nice and informative. Oh... I forgot to mention the dinosaur bones!Across the way is their Earth Science Museum which was actually very cool and had many displays! There are cool things to see for browsers, and even cooler info for those who want to take the time to read! There is also a “Biblical Garden” with a pond of fish and turtles. Lastly there is a path through a gnarly cactus garden that is truly impressive and you’ll see Dino sculptures here and there. Thus far... all of that is absolutely free!!! There is a point on the path that you can’t go yourself and they offer $9/person guided tours... but not on Saturdays apparently. I don’t know if it’s worth that to take the tour... but I haven’t done it so who knows. $10/family might be more like it.But this place really gets an A+! It’s not Disneyland or the natural history museum, so don’t have too high expectations... but for a free museum, this was simply delightful!

Its a good getaway for a few hours. Its free & you cant find very many places that are free & take a family anywhere. Its a cool place to visit with children, but it could also be the worst. If you have well behaved children, who listen well. This is a good place to visit, especially if they like dinosaurs or cactus.

Called to inquire if the centers outside activities were open. A man answered but instead of being greeted with a Hello, thank you for calling. My name is ... How may I help you? Instead I was greeted by an unsolicited opinion concerning the increase of covid-19 cases and whos responsible for the closures. I offered a bit of information based on my healthcare profession and why were seeing spikes in cases but the gentleman did not seem interested. Fine, he can stay ignorant. I had to call back to find out who it was I spoke to. The mans name is Wes. He is the executive director. I think Wes needs to be retrained in customer relations.

What an odd place. This place is a great spot for families looking for a half a day adventure for relatively cheap. The lower sections of the park are free and a few times a day they take adventures up to the top of the mountain nearby which costs $9 a person. From what I heard, they offer a fossil digging experience and a few more dinosaurs to see at the top.The staff was very knowledgeable about the tortoises and even more so inside the shop.I wouldn’t say I’d strongly recommend going but it’s worth some time there.

We have got a recommendation to this museum from our school and its free. So we went there with our kids today. We were all excited at the beginning. We noticed there are a crowded of people traveling to the huge dinosaurs area so we followed. Suddenly, there was an old rude security guy driving his golf cart and came to us saying this was a PAID area and we had to leave NOW. So I said sorry about that and we were trying to leave. And explained that there were crowded of people upstairs and we went there together. So he said, there were bunch of people who jump off the cliff, would u like to join?” I was speechless and full of anger with this super super rude unprofessional security guide. I immediately out my baby back on stroller and he was standing behind trying to keep pressure on us. God knows this is a pay area?.There is no sign for the payment request at all. I would respect you if you have put a sign on it. Your museum attracted us to come for free parking and free entrance . We didnt expect that there is a partial area for fee requested. If you would like to earn a living as you said in this area, why wouldnt you collect entrance fee at the beginning like other museum do? I feel like a trap to come and this rude security guy had made our day!!!Bad experience ever!!!Great, we were planning to have a birthday party here and now I would just spread to everyone not to come for party here. Waste of time driving here and thank god its FREE!!!!!

Go to LA or another major city for a real discovery center experience. The bathrooms are something out of the 1980s pit stop on a very long road trip complete with broken sinks and soap dispensers. The stall doors dont allow for any real privacy. The place is falling apart every where. The only descent thing they had was the gift shop, especially if you like polished rocks.

Nice little Discovery Center to spend some time with the kids or by yourself lol you know to kill some time. Entry is free of charge only place where I seen you could possibly spend some money was inside the gift shop/office. They had some pretty pieces of Amethyst Crystals for sale, but you had to be careful with these pieces you break them you buy them.Oh man they got all kinds of gross little critters in that office too. I could only be there for so long after, even I had to walk away. The lizards and snakes I was cool with. But the spiders, roaches and scorpion yeah no thank you, Im out!!! The turtles were a cute touch though, munching away without a care in the world. We walked over to the little museum part and they had plenty of fossil, most of it is borrow from other places but still interesting. Be warned though they had no AC so it was hot, and no restroom inside.

I visited today specifically for the cactus nursery. In past years visits, I knew that I would always find a wide variety of cactus and succulent species, including some hard-to-find examples, and a selection of specimen sized plants. Todays visit was disheartening. The display benches are sparsely populated, with very young plants, and not a specimen sized plant to be seenIn practical terms, the selection at my local Lowes was vastly superior. I left 2 stars instead of one, because its still nice to walk the cactus garden and see some truly spectacular specimens on the ground. I cant speak to the other parts of the property, such as the museum displays, and Im specifically not reviewing anything except the cactus nursery.

We took a tour and were so pleased with our very knowledgeable and fun guide Dino Dave. Everyone in our three generational group learned and laughed together. The dinosaur replicas themselves are a mixed bag, part folk art, part steel sculptures, but the setting and gardens add to the experience. At the end of the tour, everyone gets to dig for fossils and various minerals and rocks that had been explained along the way. My four year old granddaughter went after this with gusto and did not want to leave. Much if the park is not accessible without the tour, and we learned so much. The $36 for four of us was a bargain.

Good place to visit for a day tour. There were three tours for visitors on Saturday at 10 AM,12 PM and 2 PM. We took the 12 PM one. The first informative session about the rocks and minerals helps us to relate to the place we are visiting. Then there is a tour of various Dinosaur exhibits with the guide. Then we go to the top of the cactus garden where there are few more exhibits. Lastly there is a family activity of gathering 12 minerals each, where they are scattered...this part is more fun. The tour ends with the earth science museum located just at the start. The museum is well maintained and interesting. Theres a shop for stones and stuff. Overall a good experience.
