Great place for a walk. View of the bay. So much cleaner (and safer for wild birds) since dogs are not allowed anymore. Love this place

Easy walking with some nice lookouts and educational signs. Also there are apartments right next to it that have a sidewalk trail overlooking the water, which is a nice add on if you want. Theres also public parking.

Nice, wide walking/running/biking trail which is about 2 miles long in the wetlands full of bay area animals. Good informational signs on the work that has gone on to get the wildlife to start to thrive again.

A nice quiet walk with some simple birds to watch and smells of the bay. Easy to get to and open parking. Just pleasant really if nothing special. Good upfront map of the trails and little information blurbs.

I hate to let the secret out bc people will overwhelm this gem of a refuge. Its a fantastic place to bird and enjoy the bay from a unique perspective. Come and enjoy but please be respectful so everyone can enjoy. One advice, after you get pass the gate and get to the info board, go right toward the bay to get to the wooden deck. Enjoy! Cheers…

Flat and easy walk, short trail along the bay. Not the prettiest and no trees but great place to watch birds. Photos are of nearby neighborhood waterfront trails, which are very pretty.

Bair Island is a vital and beautiful gem, a preserved space from an earlier era, and one of the last remaining natural marshlands in the bay. It is home for innumerable birds, feasting on the creatures of the muck and mud and tall grasses. Go there and watch them.

Nice short path along the marshes with lots of birds. No dogs allowed. Great signage and history. Parking at end of road with about 10 slots, bocce court, new playground and covered picnic tables

I have been coming to this place since I was a kid (1990). At that time it was a full circle and if You wanted You would cut right thru the middle. Great place to jog, bicycling, walk and relax. I like it how it was before, but I dont mind the improvements that have been made for the benefit of the wildlife. Kids love it now just like I did when I was a Kid. Benches are plentiful if they get a little tired.

A nice flat trail that is about 1.5 miles in length one way. Nice scenery, but close to freeway so a bit noisy. Peaceful setting and easy access from freeway to escape the busy city.

Lovely place for a run near the city. It can get hot as there is no tree cover, so might be good to wear a hat on hot days.

Flat, crushed gravel trails with no shade and fantastic open views of the bay marsh. Perfect if that is what you are looking for. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and a windbreaker.

Become a pivotal part of Marsh land conservation by logging your pics in and notating bird species in the area for its continued sustainability. Controlled duck hunting is allowed by permit just register and follow the rules and regulations. Happy hunting!

We got to see a plethora of birds, a snakeskin, and I think we saw some wild rodents. I dont recall if the trail we were on was paved or not, however it was flat and wide and my power wheelchair had no issues on it whatsoever. There is no natural shade at all, so if you go on an exceptionally sunny day youll probably want sunscreen and plenty of water

Nice flat trail with opportunities for viewing wildlife, though most are far away and require binoculars to get a good look. Surrounded by highway and pretty hot due to no trees. It would benefit from measures to reduce noise/appearance of the highway. But if thats the kind of hike youre looking for, its here. I am glad this place exists because its important to wildlife.

Nice trail within a short drive. A little bit of highway noise, but overall a nice additional park!

D
Review №24

Its close to where I lived so the convenience cant be beat. However, plan ahead and visit during higher tide hours otherwise its brown and not very pretty. There are some random homeless people sometimes, and often are mad and aggressive. Typical city park, but no dogs are allowed as its a preserve.

This is an amazing place and project. I grew up in Redwood City, and this place was completely different when I was a kid. In the early 2000s a restoration of Bair island was started, to restore the local ecology here. Allowing nature to reclaim and thrive in an area takes time. Lots of progress has been made over the last year and theres promise of a timelapse video to show it. There are signs from which visitors can take a picture and submit to the video project. Check out Instagram #restorebair1 and #restorebair2 to get a peak at the transformation. Other reviews are likely dated and not a reflection of the current state. It is not just for residents of the nearby housing developments and has access to the bay trail cycling road that goes parallel highway 101. The two main draws for me are the views of the bay, and the facinating local wildlife. Im partial to the birds.

Quiet running trail though there isnt a loop, just two up and back paths. Good if youre running 3 or so miles unless you dont mind repeating the same path more than once. Use the gated path. The trail next to the freeway is loud and you have to cross a bridge where the marsh is really smelly.

There is a trail to ride bikes on, run or walk on. Tried with a scooter and it was difficult due to the crushed stone pavement. There are great raised platforms to stop and wildlife watch on, although I did not see very much. The Bay Trail runs through here, so hop on that to continue on an amazing adventure around the bay. Great place to come when your kids are just learning to ride bikes because it is not to crowded.
