They have a great annual festival with over 200 vendors.....as well as festivals throughout the year. The town is a terrific place to visit as the restaurant scene is one of the best on the east coast for small towns. The stores and the streets are easy to walk and browse. The nightlife is also very good with some good bars. I highly recommend visiting to see for yourself.

Well, Portland Downtown, is also the Arts District! There is an array of shops, stores, galleries and even a Renys Dept store to browse through. Many types of eateries, from Ottos Pizza to Poms Thai. Definitely check Google Maps for locations and info. Its an easy walk from Downtown and Monument Square to the Old Port... with even more shopping and eating to experience. So much to see and do in the space of ten square blocks, I think its perfect for tourists and visitors.Take a few moments to set up an itinerary, see whats of interest or just cruise and walk around and be amazed at what this small City has in store.Try going from downtown, to Munjoy Hill, a really great neighborhood to explore. Take the number one bus, its a frugal way to go sightseeing... for $1.50. Then you can view the historic area, go to the Observatory, Overlook/Standpipe Park, the Eastern Promenade etc. and walk back downtown on a nice day.

We held a scavenger hunt around Portland the day before our wedding for all of our wedding guests. We approached Casey and Adam at Portland Downtown to involve a visitors booth in one of our clues, and the response was wonderful. They provided us with maps for our guests, along with postcards. Both Casey and Adam responded promptly and had excellent customer service, they were eager to make sure we had a great time on the hunt. Highly recommend dropping by here for information about the city- very knowledgable!
