Visiting the Test Garden while its in full bloom on a sunny day is a treat. It smells amazing everywhere and all the roses are lovely.Additionally there are several benches to sit on if you decide that sitting to enjoy is the best way to go.The garden is big enough that its fairly easy to social distance even if there are a lot of people there. Not a good variety of shaded places though, so be prepared to get lots of sunshine (if its not raining)! The Pay To Park areas are decent enough, but on a busy day be prepared to have to park not as close.Overall, its free to go (except parking) so if the chance to visit arises, I recommend going!

Nice experience of what the city of Roses is working with. I was inspired for my personal residence landscaping and I hope you are to. We took the opportunity to practice mindfulness towards tuning into nature, walking slowly (something that can be hard to do when we go, go, go all day). Bring a mask to wear while you walk around. We went mid day and it wasn’t crowded or busy at all. Picnicking, reading, yoga, practicing photography, breaking away for a 30 minute reset, this is the place to be. The roses smell sensational!

The roses were very beautiful. They all smelled different. Many different varieties. This garden has been in place and growing for 103 years. The fountain was my favorite part. It wasnt running but still logged very cool; like a vehicle from Tron. The visit was as expensive as the parking because that was the only cost.Id go again in a heart beat.

The International Rose Test Garden has always been one of my favorite places in Portland. There are roses of almost every color, beautiful views of the city, pretty floral arches, and lots of benches to sit and take it all in. Make sure to explore the Shakespeare Garden for a greater variety of leafy plants.

Stop and smell the roses! This is a beautiful, well maintained rose garden. You can spend the day here just meandering around. Theres a small parking lot at the front entrance, but plenty of parking around washington park. Youll need to pay to park, its a reasonable $2/hr or $8 for the day. There are easily accessible parking pay stations, but they only accept change or cards. There are some ADA ramps to get in the garden, but some hills are steep. The views here are amazing and there are Roses galore. At the edge of the park theres an amphitheater where you can rest and have lunch or let little ones run around on the grass. Washington park, the Oregon zoo, the arboretum, and forest park are all easily accessible from here. Theyre all worth a visit! Plenty of trails to explore even out of the garden. There is a public restroom that is open here, but the gift shop is currently closed (due to COVID-19). It seems that the water features are also not operating. Please social distance here or wear a mask. We went at a less busy time and didnt have any issue with social distancing.

Any visit to Portland, the City of Roses, should include a trip to the International Rose Test Garden. May thru July tend to be best to see the thousands of varieties of roses, from miniature roses to giant saucer sized varieties. The garden also boasts some great peek-a-boo views of the downtown skyline and Mt. Hood on clear days. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the meal amongst the flowers.

So nice that this place is free to the public. Its beautiful and I could spend all day here with my camera. Only reason I cant give 5 stars is because you have to pay for parking, so it would cost you to spend all day here. Also you have to be sure to go at the right time of year. Was a nice place to relax and smell the roses, pun intended

TOURISTS: Beautiful, and in a clear day you can get pics of the garden AND Mount hood in one shot! Parking is hard to come by on a busy day, so get here early. Also bring some comfortable shoes, because theres lots of walking an elevation. Water stations are around, but no so easily marked, so a full water bottle isnt a bad idea.

When I went here in mid-June, there were thousands of roses in bloom. There are so many varieties of roses here, and there are placards staked in the ground to let you know what their names are. If a variety doesnt have a placard next to it, you can refer to a map located in the park that lists the roses names.A few years ago, I went to the garden with my mom, who loved the floribunda Rhapsody in Blue bushes that we saw. This year for Mothers Day, I bought her a Rhapsody in Blue rosebush online (its not commonly found in stores). She loves it! I have the International Rose Test Garden to thank for the good idea for a special present for my mom!
