Kickstand is a true Portland gem. I’ve never laughed so hard in my life as I have at these shows!! You will find high quality comedy that’s always fresh and unexpected. The space is also incredibly welcoming and accessible. If you’ve ever thought of giving comedy a try, this is the place to take classes. I never thought I had any business being in comedy, but Kickstand changed that completely. Theyve created something really special here. You should definitely check it out!

Dope spot to find a variety of local comedy. Sketch, stand up, and improv–super friendly vibes and the place is a nonprofit.

Would rate zero stars if possible. The show is based on donations and luckily for them they ask for them ahead of time. We thought it would be a mix of stand up and improv but it turned out to be instead a group of people who should take notes from a high school comedy troop. Terrible scripted segments with obvious punchlines with jokes that include Michael Jackson jokes, yes seriously. So lazy, that joke was bad even 5 years ago. It would be more entertaining to just watch the homeless people at the nearby park. AVOID. All the 5 star ratings are clearly the friends of the “performers” or possibly even the cast themselves. It’s obvious why they don’t get paid, painfully obvious.

Most improv places are either hits or very awkward misses. This place had some quality humor and very good performers and was well worth the visit and its pay as you like so bring some cash incase you really like the show.

Kickstand a great place to experience the magic of improv for the first time or the 638th time. Dedicated performers, interesting sets and the densely packed energy of a hole in the wall theater that I came to love at UCB in LA and NYC. Right now (November 2016) they have great shows regularly on Tuesdays at 730, but check the calendar if youre reading this in 2048 and this review got miscategorized as being in Portland, Mars rather than Portland, Oregon.

If youre looking to check out some of the best underground comedy in PDX this is the spot!! Tons of showcases, work in development, open mics, longform improv, sketch, video and more... Community run by the performers, all shows are donation based so you wont break the bank. Full disclosure I volunteer and perform here regularly but find myself coming to see rad comedy nightly even when Im not in them!! Im proud to support this place and always have a blast at shows.
