I often hike here since its so close to my home. Rarely see more than one or two people on a weekday. Its interesting to see how the area changes with the seasons. Tends to be very quiet and you can get in a good walk (up to four miles) if youre ambitious. Lots of birds, (bluebirds, blackbirds, bluejays, cardinals, flickers, woodpeckers, ducks, geese, swans, etc.) especially in the Spring when the area bursts into color. Watch for ticks if you venture into the brush off the main trail. You definitely need sun protection in the warmer weather as there is zero shade on most of the hike.
One of my favorite places to walk. The Audubon society has taken this place a long way. There is ample parking for the place. Plenty of birds around to view and lots of nice sights. Its nice to walk up to the viewing platform overlooking the marsh and relax. Apparently theres otters here but Ive never seen one. There are trails leading down the left and right side of the marsh but they do not link up from what I can tell.
A cranberry farm thats been given back to nature. The process of restoring a wetland/bog has been amazing to watch. The family who farmed it chose to permanently conserve it. Sold just this year to the Massachusetts Audubon Society and Town of Plymouth, MA, it is now a nature and wildlife sanctuary. Public access is permitted - trails and more coming. Lots to learn and enjoy.
Warning: This is a wide open space type of trail. It is lovely and an interesting landscape to look at, but if you are used to wooded trails this is a surprise.I say warning because this is not the place to be, without sunscreen, on a blazing hot summer day. There is no relief from the sun beating down, no shade. Again, its lovely, but its not a cool wooded walk.I took a star off for the unleashed dogs I encountered.
I don’t understand why dogs aren’t allowed. Even on leash? My dogs are my family, if they can’t come, I’m not interested.
Amazing springtime walk! Today was my first walk, it definitely wont be my last
Great trails, wide walking area
Great new addition of open conservation land to Plymouth. Quite a bit of space here, beautiful wildlife habitats and lots to see. Great for walking, sightseeing, and photography. Looks like theres a welcome center being erected in the near future. We plan to return often!
Beautiful place to hike through! Wooded areas and big open scenic views. Wife and I had a nice time walking here.
Plenty of beautiful trails to walk with - some woodlands, a small river and a lot of marshland. We saw a bunch of different birds. It was quite and peaceful, a nice place to get away from the hustle bustle.
Its no longer there. Its now a wildlife sanctuary mostly for birds. Its a good place to see waterfowl though. Its off the beaten path so to say. Only found it because I have family living by it
Nice walk but they need more trail signs. Got a little lost. Take about two hours to walk.
Perfect for a short walk if you just want to get some fresh air and drink in a beautiful view. Or a longer hike to really explore and experience this wonderful pocket of nature.
