My wife and I went to the Annual Festival of Trees exhibit. In addition to hanging art and sculptures, there are several Christmas trees and wreaths decorated in traditional and nontraditional styles throughout the museum. Fun for the whole family! Dont forget to grab lunch at the Cafe 101. Their pressed turkey and cranberry sandwich was very popular.

A great place to work as a volunteer Docent. Their training and support is outstanding. I had the privilege of leading school tourson the Norman Rockwell exhibit. The 4 Freedoms and Ruby Bridges were my favorites. One of the highlights of my time there was to meet the unique residents of Gees Bend learn the stories behind the quilts. I loved leading the African Journey museum tour...its a whole lot of fun working with kids. Susan Rosoff and Jude Moher are the absolute best people. If you get the chance to volunteer here grab it. Its the opportunity of a lifetime .

Great museum with a great collection and helpful staff.I was completing an assignment which required a photo of the artwork I was writing about, and while photography was not permitted inside when I went, a curator went and fetched an image the museum had taken that I was able to turn in instead. They really went out of their way to help. And the museum is beautiful, and has some works by unfairly-overlooked American artists.

Orlando has a lot of cultural spots if you take the time to escape the tourism district near Universal and Disney and head to some of the local museums and offerings. The Orlando Museum of art is no exception. Most metro areas have an art museum of sorts and Orlandos is a gem. This museum has exhibits that are both homed to the museum itself as well as traveling exhibits that are offered for a limited time. We visited on a day when several areas were closed to swap out one of these temporary exhibits so were looking forward to getting back to the museum this fall to see the new collections. The pieces on display come from a variety of different regions of the globe and from different time periods. They have a great collection of post impressionism art which we enjoyed. The museum was also ready to handle the health and safety of its visitors and employees and was ready to combat COVID. We visited on a weekday on purpose, so it wouldnt be too busy, and were impressed with the procedures they had in place. We do recommend this as a potential place to get out to visit while maintaining your safety since we did feel comfortable walking around the beautiful and clean facility.

Absolutely amazing Edward Steichen exhibit! The museum provides lots of hidden gem details and a very detailed pamphlet about the artist and his work. I’ve been a big fan of his ever since I was a little girl. This exhibit did him justice. I also really liked the Native America exhibit. It was fascinating to read about the use of each object in addition to admiring its beauty!I have to remove a star because of the very loud music they were playing through out the exhibits. It was not at all relating to the work and honestly felt very disrespectful to the artists. It’s extremely frustrating to try and read about an artists’ work and be transported by it when someone is blasting a song about a bad breakup!! Not at all what I go to an art museum to experience. There is plenty of parking on the side of the museum and a park that is perfect for a stroll. My only regret is not bringing headphones to try and block out the music they were playing all over.

Orlando should be proud of its spacious museum and its strong permanent collection. It should be even prouder of the work of the museum’s curators in their presentation of individual artists. We were stunned by the quality of the Purvis Young exhibition, with its aggregation of works for maximum impact and its integration of video, adding historical context to the series on view. We were also impressed by the harmonious selection of the works of Winifred Johnson Clive, an artist whose work we had not encountered previously. It would have been nice to have a scholarly critique of her work provided to us as a link or brochure alongside the personal exhibition.

... The perception of art is more valuable than the art itself.!!!... If youve never visited an Art Museum before, because you always thought they were Too Stuffy, Too Boring, Too Much Walking, Too Intellectual, or Too Everything that you felt were against... Well think again.!!!... This IS the Art Museum that you need to visit.!!!... Its Not Huge, so you can enjoy your stroll through the galleries and let your eyes wander open your mind to interpitations of other people imaginations.!!! (but if you truly enjoy a walk, the museum is situated and surrounded by a beautiful and lush green blend of tree covered rolling hills and flats perfect for a picnic).... Its Cozy and Intimate with places to sit and enjoy the exhibits while you decide what to make of what youre looking at... And on First Thursdays ,(the first thursday of each month) they have small gatherings and exhibit openings with food and drink available, with interactive displays to enjoy for an impromptu fun and romantic evening.!!!So if youre looking for something to do and expand your mind, open your eyes and make you think... Check out the Orlando Museum of Art any day of the week, even if just to enjoy the quiet setting and color around you.

I had the chance of visiting Orlando for a few days, but the idea of dealing with long lines and the crowded spaces of the entertainment parks was not really appealing to me, so I decided to visit instead the Morse Museum and the Orlando Museum of Art. After walking through the aisles of the second one and getting the chance of checking out both their temporary and permanent exhibition, I can say I did not waste my time by making the choice of visiting this location. I can say this was my first time getting the chance to see in person the work of Louis Dewis and Edward Steichen, both part of their temporary exhibition that are definitely breathtaking. They also have a good section dedicated to Mesoamerican and Native American Art, that is definitely accurate in its curation (I can speak as a Mexican that has visited endless archeological sites). The museum is full of activities, a great staff and a museum shop that is extremely cute and full of cool souvenirs that will make great gifts that are very rare and unique. I definitely recommend the visit if you’re looking for something else other than the big commercial parks in town.
