First time going to visit the Statue of Liberty. I ended up taking the ferry from Liberty Park in NJ and going with the ferry to Ellis Island and then to Lady Liberty. There was very minimal social distancing and some people even were not wearing masks properly throughout the entire ride.To be honest no one scanned my Statue of Liberty tickets only my Ferry ticket. Also I had to pay 7$ for parking in Liberty State Park.It was definitely an all day ordeal but worth the trip. Definitely need to layer up for the winter wind.

Unforgettable iconic place in New York that brings us a nostalgic feeling of the early 20th century. You will enjoy your experience better on a sun sunny day, but if you have bought your ticket and the weather isnt clear you will still enjoy it. I recommend eating before boarding the ferries so you wont waste time at the island. It is interesting to highlight that the basic ticket doesnt grant you access to the statue, just the island. Anyway, the experience is awesome even if you dont climb all the way up.Furthermore, the city view from the island is exuberant.

Great to go see something as influential and well known. The ticket is good value and very inclusive but it can be difficult to understand the difference between all ticket types. Book early and get to go up to the higher levels.Make sure you stop off at the museum, also well worth it. Bring plenty of water if it is a hot day as the island is very exposed to the sun.

Beautiful experience. Due to COVID, the pedestal and crown are closed. They offered a tour using a personal device which was helpful in learning about the Statue. The museum was open and it was cool to see real pieces of the Statue up close. Too bad the gift shop was closed. Overall great time. The ferry there was awesome. Its my fifth time on the statue of liberty theres nothing wrong with the place all the entry and exit places are perfectly designed and they help you out throughout your journey. The only thing is that they never advertise the kind of skyline which you can see when you land on statue of liberty I think they should mention it somewhere that you can see New Jersey City Brooklyn and Manhattan all at the same time.

Visiting this national monument should be on your bucket list. There is a ferry that will transport you to the monument, but you have to receive an airport style screening for obvious reasons. I would highly recommend purchasing your ticket online due to the long lines you may face at the booths at the ferry staging areas. Once youre on the ferry, you will be able to take many pictures of the NYC skyline as well as purchase delicious food(hot dogs, burgers, drinks, etc) on the boat. The ferries are multi-tiered structures so you may have to walk up and down a few stairs, but theyre not steep enough to tire you out. If you want a REAL workout, I challenge you to venture to the crown of the monument. Awaiting you will be all the flights of stairs you can handle, but a breathtaking view that will afford you the best view on the island. Before you leave the island, make sure you visit the gift shop. They have a wide selection of memorabilia and food.

The Statue of Liberty National Monument is a great day attraction when visiting NY. First you get to go on a ferry ride, then you have the whole island to explore. Depending on the season you go ( Better in the summer) you can enjoy the green areas and have a nice picnic. The monument itself is pretty cool even though I thought it was going to be much larger since it looks so large on tv and movies, however it is quite large and it gets its high from the large base it sits on. Inside the statue is pretty cool and if you get the opportunity to go up to the crown thats ever cooler, but few people get this opportunity. Over all there is a lot to see in and under , and around the statute.

Most of the way you can use elevator but the rest you need to do it on stairs. Be aware, if you have claustrophobic....it is not for you. The way up its very tight and spiral staircase. Kind of dark too. I loved it. Then I recommend to eat at Crown Cafe. Good food. The Ferry is free and you can also get of at Ellis Island.p

One of the must visit places in the United States - both for Americans and tourists. There are 2 options to see the monument - either from the ferry or by being on the liberty monument island. Id definitely recommend being on the island. Just thinking about how it must have felt for all the immigrants who came from across the world in the early 1800s and 1900s on ships, having to wait weeks in the sea only to see this magnificent structure looming in the distance. This monument created hope for those immigrants and still symbolizes America as the land of freedom, opportunities and growth. This monument should always be treated with deep reverence. I highly recommend visiting here as its truly as magnificent as they say it is in tales.

Is there any landmark more famous in the world than the Statue of Liberty in New York? There’s only one answer to that. No, there’s not. The Statue of Liberty is one lady who should be at the top of everyone’s list of world famous landmarks to visit.Though her copper robes have turned a tarnished green over the years, for a woman of her age and for someone who’s been carrying a torch for America for over a hundred and thirty years, she’s still pretty impressive. She is the symbol of freedom worldwide and one you just can’t miss seeing at least once in your lifetime. Guaranteed that when you do go, the Statue of Liberty will welcome you to New York, without batting an eyelid, the same as she has done millions of other visitors over the decades. When to go. Spring, summer or early autumn are the best time to visit the Statue of Liberty. Try it in winter and you’ll probably be chipping icicles off your eyebrows. Day or night? Has to be night. Take a boat cruise around the bay of Manhattan at dusk and you’ll see how, once illuminated, the great lady almost seems to come to life.

People forget that this was a gift to us and sadly have forgotten what it stands for and what’s engraved on it. It’s actual name is Liberty Enlightening the World and she was made by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886. Being made mostly of copper it has the unique color from years of being exposed to the elements and has the now iconic look that so many of us are used to. The was a time you could go up to the torch area but sadly that’s no longer allowed. I recommend giving this place a visit whenever you get a chance as it is truly a sight to behold.

Statue of Liberty, formally Liberty Enlightening the World, colossal statue on Liberty Island in the Upper New York Bay, U.S., commemorating the friendship of the peoples of the United States and France. Standing 305 feet (93 metres) high including its pedestal, it represents a woman holding a torch in her raised right hand and a tablet bearing the adoption date of the Declaration of Independence (July 4, 1776) in her left. The torch, which measures 29 feet (8.8 metres) from the flame tip to the bottom of the handle, is accessible via a 42-foot (12.8-metre) service ladder inside the arm (this ascent was open to the public from 1886 to 1916). An elevator carries visitors to the observation deck in the pedestal, which may also be reached by stairway, and a spiral staircase leads to an observation platform in the figure’s crown. A plaque at the pedestal’s entrance is inscribed with a sonnet, “The New Colossus” (1883) by Emma Lazarus.

The Statue of Liberty National Monument is a United States National Monument comprising Liberty Island and Ellis Island in the U.S. states of New Jersey and New York.[5] It includes the Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World) by sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and the Statue of Liberty Museum, both situated on Liberty Island, as well as the former immigration station at Ellis Island which includes the Ellis Island Immigrant Hospital. The monument is managed by the National Park Service as part of the National Parks of New York Harbor office.President Calvin Coolidge used his authority under the Antiquities Act to declare the statue a national monument in 1924.[1] In 1937, by proclamation 2250, President Franklin D. Roosevelt expanded the monument to include all of Bedloes Island, and in 1956, an act of Congress officially renamed it Liberty Island.[6] Ellis Island was made part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument by proclamation of President Lyndon Johnson in 1965. The United States historic district, a single listing on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, was designated in 1966.The islands were closed during hurricane Sandy in October 2012 and suffered severe damage. Liberty Island reopened July 4, 2013; Ellis Island re-opened October 24, 2013.On March 16, 2020 both islands closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On July 20, 2020 the Statue of Liberty reopened partially under New York Citys Phase IV guidelines, with Ellis Island continuing to remain closed.

The Statue of Liberty was a joint effort between France and the United States, intended to commemorate the lasting friendship between the peoples of the two nations. The French sculptor Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi created the statue itself out of sheets of hammered copper, while Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel, the man behind the famed Eiffel Tower, designed the statue’s steel framework. The Statue of Liberty was then given to the United States and erected atop an American-designed pedestal on a small island in Upper New York Bay, now known as Liberty Island, and dedicated by President Grover Cleveland in 1886. Over the years, the statue stood tall as millions of immigrants arrived in America via nearby Ellis Island; in 1986, it underwent an extensive renovation in honor of the centennial of its dedication. Today, the Statue of Liberty remains an enduring symbol of freedom and democracy, as well as one of the world’s most recognizable landmarks. This is wonderful place

A broken shackle and chain lie at her feet as she walks forward, commemorating the recent national abolition of slavery.[8] After its dedication, the statue became an icon of freedom and of the United States, seen as a symbol of welcome to immigrants arriving by sea.Bartholdi was inspired by a French law professor and politician, Édouard René de Laboulaye, who is said to have commented in 1865 that any monument raised to U.S. independence would properly be a joint project of the French and U.S. peoples. The Franco-Prussian War delayed progress until 1875, when Laboulaye proposed that the French finance the statue and the U.S. provide the site and build the pedestal. Bartholdi completed the head and the torch-bearing arm before the statue was fully designed, and these pieces were exhibited for publicity at international expositions. The torch-bearing arm was displayed at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876, and in Madison Square Park in Manhattan from 1876 to 1882. Fundraising proved difficult, especially for the Americans, and by 1885 work on the pedestal was threatened by lack of funds. Publisher Joseph Pulitzer, of the New York World, started a drive for donations to finish the project and attracted more than 120,000 contributors, most of whom gave less than a dollar. The statue was built in France, shipped overseas in crates, and assembled on the completed pedestal on what was then called Bedloes Island. The statues completion was marked by New Yorks first ticker-tape parade and a dedication ceremony presided over by President Grover Cleveland. The statue was administered by the United States Lighthouse Board until 1901 and then by the Department of War; since 1933 it has been maintained by the National Park Service as part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument, and is a major tourist attraction. The monument was temporarily closed from March 16, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic until partially reopening on July 20, 2020.[9] Public access to the balcony around the torch has been barred since 1916.

Well managed and maintained boat tours from both NY and NJ. Plan to spend at least 3 hours. If you are planning to visit the crown or pedestal, make sure to reserve in advance. View from pedestal was good, did not get chance to visit crown.

The Statue of Liberty is located in the Gulf of New York, a work of art that was awarded by France to the United States of America on 28 October 1886. The purpose of this gift was to strengthen the friendship between the two countries, on the occasion of the centenary of the American Revolution, Since then, the statue has remained stable and has become a tourist attraction.

Done this as it was included in our NY Pass, but glad we did actually go to the island as most folk had advised to just get the free ferry that passes it.Good photo opportunities and stunning views of the NY skyline around the lower end of NY. Island is very clean and well maintained. Gift shop was busy but well stock and reasonable prices.

I live in New York and only recently came to the statue. The path to it, of course, is not close and long. There are many tourists, the queues are huge. It is not as big as it seems from afar. Although it took a long time to get there, it was worth it. I enjoyed the trip to the statue. I recommend going up there)

Its a historic landmark featuring lady liberty, a sign of freedom and prosperity. The boat ride was awesome. The view of Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Jersey City is remarkable. Make sure to arrive early so you can get a good spot on the top deck. Also make sure to be on the right side of the boat because the view as you approach lady liberty is amazing. I got tickets to the top of the pedestal which is just as big as the statue itself. Beautiful view. Lots of stairs but elevators were available too. You can also get tickets to the crown. Im sure the view is spectacular. But at the end of the day its just a statue that can be admired from all angles. Be prepared to go through TSA style security.

The tickets were about 19 dollars per adult if my memory serves to be correct. You go through airport style security, even though its very quick, but that makes you feel safe while on the island. Its a short boat ride over that stops at Ellis Island and boats you past the scenic New York landscape. I loved it!! Also, there are professional photographers there that take pictures of you for 9 dollars a piece. We got 5 pictures for 45 dollars! Sooooo worth it!! The food there was good but pricey as you would expect. It was affordable though. The souvenir shop was one of the best in New York, only thing is that most of the souvenirs located within the shop were pertaining to the statue of liberty. Its a nice outing for the entire family. We enjoyed it!!

Like so many places in New York, right now is a great time to go. Yes the crowds are a little there but never like it has been in the past. Go early in the day to avoid the heat and on a Sunday to get some free parking in the city. Hopefully it will fully open soon but yeah it’s a good time to see lady liberty

This is a great statue in America. The copper statue, a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886.The Franco-Prussian War delayed progress until 1875, when Laboulaye proposed that the French finance the statue and the U.S. provide the site and build the pedestal. Bartholdi completed the head and the torch-bearing arm before the statue was fully designed, and these pieces were exhibited for publicity at international expositions.
