The Brooks Atkinson Theatre was building in 1926 and is similar to many of the theatre houses in the Broadway area. This is a smaller theatre and holds about 1,050 people. The theatre is known for its original chandelier. Bathroom space is at a premium.

The Brooks Atkinson Theater in NYC is a beautiful Broadway playhouse with classic styling. We saw Waitress staring g Katherine McPhee. Regardless of who is leading this play, the entire play is excellent and this theater was a lovely and intimate setting.

So underrated musical. Saw the movie a few years ago and absolutely loved the musical! My friend was also unexpectedly blown away. Go see it before it closes, or on West End when you get the chance (in London, Sara Bareilles is performing there!)

The theater is beautiful. It has average seats that are a little snug. You need to stand up to let people pass you to get to their seats. The temperature was perfect - not too cold or warm. The musical we saw was WAITRESS with Jordan Sparks, which left me with mixed feelings. It’s been years since I saw the film, which warmed my soul like warm (fill in the blank) pie. But last night, I didn’t feel warm & fuzzy inside even though I was happy to see this musical. The staging was incredible. Loved seeing the live band on stage. The music that was upbeat and happy made me want to get up & dance. The actors were impeccable - vocal harmonizing was sweet to my ears. Standout performers, in addition to Jordan Sparks, were two understudies for characters Becky & the nurse, and Christopher Fitzgerald. Al Roker was a pleasant surprise. He was GOOD!I forgot the dark side of the plot. It’s been 12 years since the movie, and I’d forgotten about the character Earl, her husband, and how miserable he was as a person. I also forgot the infidelity (two characters). That theme always makes me uncomfortable. Maybe because I’m happily divorced from someone who was unfaithful & I’m happily married to someone who would never cheat on me??I’m glad I saw this musical because of the actors, music, staging, and pies. I wasn’t a fan of the whole story. I would definitely not recommend for children.

Of all of the theaters we went to on our visit, this one had the most comfortable seats. The only ladies room was on the 2nd floor, so I had to go upstairs both times I went. The line for it & the concessions was very long & not much room for them. They had several employees directing traffic, likewise in the bathroom a lady directing traffic which greatly improved the speed at which one was able to get in & out.

The theater is very small compared to most others. They did a good job of setting up the atmosphere for The Waitress, they made the interior smell like pie. I also appreciate that no matter where you sit youll have a good viewMy biggest complaint is that the seats are extremely small. I had no leg room at all, which honestly took me out from enjoying the show. Plus the seat width was smaller than airplane seats.

Nice small, intimate theater just outside of Times Square. The rows are tight in the orchestra and mezzanine, but if you can get the private balconies, they are very nice. There is just a small lobby and the line to get into the theater is normally really long, but it moves quickly.bathrooms are upstairs and I did not see an elevator so that could be a concern if you have trouble with stairs. Nearly all seats have a good view of the stage and the seats are comfortable although, as with most NYC theaters, seats tend to be smaller than you would want. All in all, its a nice theater.

I saw Waitress in January 2019 with Sara Bareilles and Gavin Creel as the leads and let me tell you - I WAS BLOWN AWAY! I went into this not knowing much, only going because I love Sara, and I left absolutely loving this story. Its so heartfelt, it had me smiling and laughing. Im so glad I saw Waitress and I would love to see it again! But Sara and Gavin - their chemistry is out of this world! The music was fantastic and the actor was just as good. Not a show for kids, it was more raunchy than I expected!

Fun historic theater for broadway events. Like most theaters in the district it’s old and tiny. Bathrooms are upstairs, and tight so prepare for a wait. If you can, try for seats closer to the center of the aisles as the seats appear to get scrunched together on the outer wings. That said, not really a bad view from anywhere in house.

On a whim, we decided to go see Waitress with Jordan Sparks on a Monday night here at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, and it was so fun! This venue is quaint and intimate (seats just over 1000), and we had seats in the middle of the last row from top...we could understand the words to all the lyrics, we could see everything, and we really enjoyed the show. Jordan definitely made the show! She has an amazing gift and to hear her live was so worthwhile. Her two supporting actresses rocked as well. Go see it.

I am amazed at how small this place is in terms of seat size and bathrooms. People 50-100 years ago must have been much tinier in comparison to today. The lines for the ladies’ room was astronomically long at intermission as well as before the house opened. The place is beautiful but is like a New York studio apartment relative to the amount of peopleattennding the show. Facilities need renovation!

This was my first musical on Broadway and the Brooks Atkinson Theater is definitely a superb, intimate experience. I saw Waitress with Sara Bareilles and Jason Mraz, along with a spectacular and charming cast. Seeing an afternoon show on a weekday meant that I also scored front row seats at a discount, and that lit up my face for the entire duration of the production. The theater is older than most and from what I overheard, it hasn’t been upgraded in years but this is Broadway, not a Hilton. Theaters are supposed to hold the memories of all the shows before them and the handrails are intended to remind you that patrons from generations ago have all climbed those stairs and ran to that same tiny bathroom during intermission. After the play, I waited with a few other dozen fans for a chance to see Sara Bareilles and sure enough, she came outside with a smile on her face and signed my program! I’m sure at a bigger theater I would have been lost in the throngs of fans, but because of the more manageable size of the Brooks Atkinson Theater, this lifelong memory will be etched in my banks.

Super theater. Seats werent bad. Lighting and acoustic quality was pretty good. Only thing that was needing some reconfiguration was the entry...only one door to enter theater and then there was a souvenirs and beverages counter at the far end of the entry. That makes for a very delayed entry to the theater causing lines to wrap around the block. Saw Waitress with Katharine McPhee which was amazing!

I bought tickets for my grandmother and I to see Waitress. She has always wanted to see a Broadway play and I wanted to go too, so we crossed it off our bucket list. HI bought tickets without realizing how many stairs it actually was up to the Mezzanine level. The staff at the matinee showing on 9/7/2019 were so incredible and accommodating for her!!! They wouldnt let her climb the stairs with me carrying her walker (like we had planned). Instead, Paul, the theater manager guy had us sit down and he made arrangements for us to sit on the main level. INCREDIBLE!!And if that wasnt enough, halfway through the staff must have noticed that my grandmother and I are kind of on the short side and were straining to see the performance over the tall people in front of us.....so they brought us 5 inch cushions to sit on so we could see better!Brooks Atkinson Theater and the staff there were absolutely incredible! I could have hugged all of them! Thank you!

This is an amazing venue. As others have noted, its relatively small, but the staff does a fantastic job with crowd management. Id never imagine it would be workable to try to sell merch and concessions and file all those people in and out, but they do it. We saw Waitress with Sara Bareilles as the lead, the show was WONDERFUL, but this isnt about the show haha. The theater itself is not much to look at on the outside to a passerby, but its rather nice looking once you get inside. The stage is very nice and large, seating angles from all over appear good. The decor is nice. Restrooms (at least the mens) is a bit cramped with regard to entry and exiting anyway. The seats themselves are comfortable enough that it wasnt an issue sitting in them for a few hours, however the spacing is not so good (on the mezzanine at least) and leg room was a bit tight. I have longer legs, but it still looked snug for her and shes only 52 though she didnt complain of a lack of leg room at all, so it could very well just be my body type. That is the reason along with the restroom entry/exit spacing, that I didnt give it another star. It would NOT stop me from going to this theater again however....so that should be taken into consideration as Im not a huge fan of the city, and live 3 hours drive plus a train ride and a walk, away from this theater haha.It was a great time!

I dont know if being seated in the mezzanine had something to do with it, but this was certainly the most comfortable Ive been in a theater in a long time. Brooks Atkinson gets five stars for their bathroom sharing practices alone. I got in to the theater 15 minutes before the show so I could use the restroom before hand but the line was still kinda crazy. The attendants were very carefully monitoring the lines and reassuring patrons that everyone could make it in time. 6 minutes before curtain they started pulling 4 ladies at a time to share the mens room. Gentlemen used the urinals behind a curtain and us gals used the stalls. I was in and out in 3 minutes and was still able to grab a drink. By the time they dimmed the lights to start the show, the lines were totally clear.Oh also its beautiful theater that features wonderful shows.
