The staff were super nice and the spaces were clean and open (great for COVID-19). There were some nice art pieces and sculptures, but it feels like there is a missed opportunity for more interesting and diverse exhibits. The price doesnt feel 100% justified. That said, it is open, not crowded, and somewhere to go while on vacation during COVID-19.

First and foremost, we would like to thank the AKC, its supporters, benefactors and all those who helped to make the Dog Museum a reality. For us, dog lovers, the opening of the AKC Dog Museum was a big thing, and at the prized Manhattan location at that, even with visitors in mind (it is located within 2 minutes walk from the Grand Central). The museum is situated on three levels, accessed by a staircase, and, we believe, an elevator as well. Most of the collection is distributed between the ground floor, where also a good museum store is located, and the third floor; with the intermediate level serving as a vantage point to observe the ground floor from above and see the glass-enclosed installation filled with figurines of every canine breed under the sun.The collection consists of dozens and dozens of paintings dedicated to dogs, from the quite old ones (dating back to the early XIXth century) to the contemporary pieces (think 2005 Barney and Miss Beasley, the famous Scottish terriers that belonged to GWB). The style, genre, manner, historical periods, and, of course, the breeds showcased vary drastically, and there is something for every dog lover, or any visitor for that matter. In addition to paintings, there are figurines, statues, and artifacts representing the past and present of the canine race.Noteworthy are interactive exhibits, from the humorous display taking your own photo and matching it to a specific dog breed (supposedly looking like you) to the Meet Molly interactive play aimed at training a virtual dog.The 3rd floor also houses the museums library that stores hundreds of volumes dedicated to dogs. The library features a spacious seating area allowing to browse through the reading material.Admission tickets can be purchased online, on the museums website and printed at home.Highly recommended.

Great little exhibit. Really enjoyed the painted art and sculptures. There are a couple of interactive portions: a virtual dog you can train and a camera that shows you what kind of dog you resemble.Great place to go spend an hour or so for relatively cheap ($15 when we went).

This is a wonderful new museum in NYC. It really may be one of the most fun and exciting museums in NYC and the world. If you like or love dogs you have to visit this museum. It is very clean, elegant and inspiring. They have wonderful events that trully honor dogs and our best friends. Both kids and adults will love this museum in a very nice part of New York City. I totally recommend visiting and spending some quality time at the museum.

Very cute and small dog museum :) although I will agree with more and think of it as more of an exhibit. Still if you are a dog lover you will get a kick here. Many paintings depicting dogs and mant statues also. I do wish there was more variety though.

It was a fun museum for those who loves dogs. The interactive exhibits are fun, and we love the large tablet to learn about the dog breeds, the rest of the arts exhibits were neat but not too exciting to see

The art and statues they had were absolutely charming, we really enjoyed seeing it all. But we were a little disappointed with the size of it. It should be called an art exhibit, not a museum destination. Not worth travelling into manhattan for on its own, charming if you have other plans in the area, and want to spend a quiet hour looking at oil paintings of (very cute) puppies and dogs.

Small museum with mostly paintings and sculptures of dogs. There are some interactive exhibits like matching a breed with how you look, a database on all the breeds, and training a dog (computerized, not a real one). Theres also a small library and a table with pictures to color (there are colored pencils), crossword puzzles, and a word search puzzle. Admission is $15 for an adult; i dont think its worth $15 considering how small it is and its not a lot of different types/styles of art but its fun to go once.

It looks more like an exhibit rather than a museum. There are a lot of dog paintings and dog statues. Theres no information about the history of breeds but they tell you stories about particular dogs. Overall i like the place since i am a dog person. Covercharge was $15. I visited this place in March 2020.

This is a good dog museum exhibits. The price for 1 adult in that museum cost $15.00 and that’s a rip off for a small museum in Manhattan. Discount with a student ID cost $10.00 and it’s very pricey for college students to go in for an exhibits. But they got good classical art work for dogs. I like that table touch screen for any dog breeds to choose from and that’s the best part in the museum. Of course for the kids to attend that dog museum cost $5.00. Guys be careful when you go to that museum it’s a very small museum they could overprice you. For example go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art they got excellent exhibits like Medieval Roman Catholic paintings and more classical and more. The dog museum could be a boring so go to any museum on Manhattan if it’s exciting for you guys.

Great museum! It is not big so you can see and do everything and still have time to eat and go enjoy other sites nearby. Or you can chill in their library and read books all day - it is up to you! We did the entire museum, shopped, ate, and went to other places and felt like we got our moneys worth. It is a block away from Grand Central and lots of parking lots available nearby. Admission is reasonable for the city and the app is adorable. It is all about dogs - as stated in the name - but my friend who isnt a dog person had a great time. The artwork is amazing and just the variety of the collection is awesome.

This is a museum for lovers of dog art. There are many paintings of dogs and statues/figurines of dogs. I am a dog lover, and was very excited when this museum opened, but found it to be disappointing. I would have appreciated more dog history - history of the domestication of dogs, of training, of breeding, etc. An exhibit about different kinds of therapy dogs and the history/science of the bond between humans and dogs would also have been very enjoyable. Overall, it was definitely not worth the $15 ticket.

Absolutely loved this place for a nice relaxing afternoon! There are paintings and pictures of dogs throughout the centuries, learning about the origin and purpose of each breed and their features, there’s an interactive app that has a scavenger hunt to find specific exhibits and AR features to learn more about each painting, an AMAZING exhibit of sculptures of dogs from different cultures set in a glass staircase as you walk up to the top floor. While most of the museum was paintings and memorabilia, there are exhibits focused on dog training, search and rescue dogs, military dogs, the start and evolution of the American Kennel Club, and even a full library of books all dedicated to dog history and information sorted by category. One of the museum staff informed me that occasionally they have service puppies in training come in to train around the museum. Sadly not while I was there, but just gives me another reason to go back!

The Dog Museum was overpriced for what it was. Mostly old paintings of dogs and some sculptures. I would love to see the evolution of dogs from wolves, and the evolution of where all of todays different breeds came from. There was not much there for people with modern dog breeds. I also think there should be more famous dogs. I liked reading about the WWI dog Stubby, but how about Balto and Rin Tin Tin? The museum has a good foundation but I think needs some improvement to be more relatable.

I found this place by accident. I was taking a short cut to get to Roosevelt Island, and came across this gem of a museum. I have two dogs of my own - two Jack Russell Terriers, so I had to pay a visit.Enterence fee is $15 when I visted.I didnt know what to expect.Outside, there is an animation which spans the length of the enterence with different breeds of dog following each other- cool!Inside, there are free lockers to put your things in to save you carrying them around. There are pictures and paintings showing dogs through different periods of time, where you can learn about their origins and the purpose of the different breeds. What is really cool is the interactive app which has a scavanger hunt to find specific exhibits.Personally, I liked the exhibits showing the search and rescue dogs and the history of the American Kennel Club. There is also a library stocked with books dedicated to dog history. This museum was a great find and Im so glad I went in. Its a real gem.
