I loved my time here. The music was great and so was the food. I got the veggie burger which is one of their vegan options and I really enjoyed it! I would go back no questions asked and recommend it to any Jazz lovers or people who enjoy live music.

Coming from Australia, I wasnt sure I would love a jazz lounge; I knew Id enjoy it, but I was unsure as to the extent. But, oh sweet baby James...! This was the highlight of our trip to New York! If we hadnt come here on our last night in NYC Id have been buying tickets to the next nights show on the way out the door!If you enjoy cool lighting, intimate atmospheres, and are open to jazz that slows and relaxes your soul, do yourself the favour and visit Mintons!

Had the opportunity to patron this wonderful place on December 20, 2019. The atmosphere is very quiet and quaint!! Love the live jazz set, so amazing! Food was great as well.First time experience, this is a great playhouse!!

Had the opportunity to chaperone my student group there for a historical documentary. Amazing is an understatement to describe the experience, the rich history in Mintons is unbelievable! My kids had a BLAST interviewing Raphael Baccus about the ins and outs of Mintons Playhouse.

A beautiful spot for jazz. You have room to move around, not like some places in Midtown. Lovely ambiance. Good food and friendly staff.This was my first time here. I am looking forward to a return visit. The band is great. I met some repeat customers.

This was an amazing experience!Samara (I hope Im spelling it right) the manager on duty last night went above and beyond for me and my party of 16. She was over accommodating and deserves recognition. It was truly a night to remember. Thank you so much!!!

The music and service were amazing. $20 per person per set of music so the bill can get pricey pretty fast. A set is about an hour. Food was great. If your looking to try something a little different than the usual tourist stuff, check this place out.

I had a nice time here during Restaurant Week. The food was delicious and I even had a couple of drinks I’ve never tasted before. The blackberry Gimlet was my favorite. The jazz band was pretty good and one of the musicians was a multi-instrumentalist. Overall I enjoyed myself but it won’t be a regular spot for me.

I’ve been coming to Mintons for a number of years, I’ve always loved it. Great music, delicious food and drinks not to mention spectacular service, overall a great experience. Until recently, they seem to have changed management and one can tell. The music was flat, service was mediocre, drinks were run of the mill, the food was still good but the service was so bad that it made the whole experience mediocre at best. To my surprise the venue was empty, and I soon discovered why. Please bring back the old management.

Great place for a date night.Awesome atmosphere with the live music as well as the seating and overall vibe.Sorta pricey as they charge extra per person to watch the live show but its worth the treat.Ill be back again for sure.

As others have already said, this cozy music spot has some of the richest history in NYC, tucked away inside what was the old Cecil Hotel, you better make sure you have reservations because it fills up quickly. There are some playful rum and tequila based cocktails, and a fabulous menu of Argentine-influenced food, such as the impossibly tender empanadas we had. Service was on point throughout the evening, making everything seamless. Tables are mostly cozy two-tops, so this is perfect for a date night.

If you truly enjoy jazz, Minton’s is a decent venue however they impose steep food and drink minimums for a reason. Service is horrendous. The staff are young teens who do not seem to have any hospitality experience. Our waiter was nice but extremely slow and forgetful. We waited over 45 minutes for refills on our sangria (note: the sangria is not fresh or homemade and is poured out of a wine bottle label Sangria..). Water glasses were refilled randomly. We were a table of 14 and only two or three water glasses were refilled even though it was clear that several others were empty. At one point, a manager for one of the bands brought me a glass of water even though he did not work for the venue. The space is tight and warm. They will add tables in the walkways and box you in making it impossible to move about or even get up to use the restroom. The food is decent as the kitchen is shared with Cecil’s but steer clear of the pasta dishes which are dry and lack flavor. The brownie a la mode is dry and not of good quality.I’m not much of a jazz fan and only went for a birthday party but will steer clear of Minton’s moving forward. The service is truly shameful. I would never return.

Lovely Place for a Birthday Celebration!Saturday, Feb. 1 attended a birthday celebration. So happy to see the famous Mintons is still here and giving musicians a chance to play on this great stage. Our party of 14 was attended by an attentive waiter and our food and beverage was delish...will definitely recommend and come back.Keep up the good work and keep the legacy alive!!!!

I had booked a party of 20 for my mothers 90th birthday. We booked it in December for today’s date and gave a deposit. 1 week ago I received an email that they made a mistake and rented the entire venue out. They offered to move the party to the steak house but of course, no live jazz and not a brunch. I think that they way they treated us was appalling. No phone call, no other offer of reparations and didn’t care that we had 1 week to find another place to host my mothers birthday party.I think that the management of Minton’s should be ashamed at having treated us so poorly. The good news is that we had a GREAT brunch today at Red Rooster Ginnys Supper Club. The show was amazing, the service was excellent, the food wonderful and they were so accommodating and helpful. I highly recommend Ginnys - a first rate place. And I would not go to Mintons - clearly they do not care about their customers and don’t know what they are doing.

I was there for a private event. The staff was helpful and friendly. The wait staff was attentive and prompt. The host was witty and went the extra mile. The food was excellent. I heard it achieved landmark status too. It looked modern and well maintained. Overall great experience.

11:40 asked to keep my menu to order food, Erick took the menu away from me and told me they were closing kitchen at 12 so no. My friend sat at the table at 12:15 and asked for the food menu. They gave it to him without a problem and 10 minutes later they realized I was at the same table. Around 12:30 He came to me and told me he could do me a favor and ask for last call. I had too much pride.Such a shame, the food looked great, even what was done after “kitchen closing”Ambience and music was beautiful, so that’s definitely a plus. Perhaps less judgement on who you wish to serve. especially if you’re going to charge people a music charge and minimum.

Great space for live jazz in the heart of Harlem. One of the Christmas holiday shows was tribute to Frank Sinatra - great lineup and excellent vibe. Food was mediocre (mandatory three-item order for the cover charge) but thats not why we were there so thats okay.

Good food, and nice music. Our porterhouse steak was pretty good, the appetizers were kinda small, but tasty. It is a bit on the expensive side, but the place is kinda fancy. They have two performances each night, first starting at 7:30 and the second at 9:30. There is a $20 music charge per person, but because we got there pretty late (got the last 10 minutes maybe), they removed the charge from our bill per our request. The gentleman who was the manager was very nice about it. Enjoyed the experience overall.

There meals are worth every penny. Great wine selection. Awesome customer service. I make it an effort to stopping by every Sunday for a meal and jazz. -- different guest artists each weekend but always quality

The food was excellent, Very tasty ! However the customer service (which can make or break an experience) was appalling. The minute we were seated and started reviewing the menu. one of my party members asked if I felt rushed (I thought she must be imaging things). After we ordered our appetizers the server was back . She stated that she wanted to put the order in before it got really busy. Then in exactly one hour she asked if we wanted the bill. Another member of our party had enough!!She asked to see the managers. The manager sorted it out BUT it should have never happened in the first place!! The server explained that she was asked to turn over the table quickly. What I noticed was no one else seemed to be asked to rush through their meal. Sorry, we wont be returning. It literally ruined my appetite! !!!!

Place is nice, music is good, however they are not clear with the rules - selling tickets for events saying part of the price to cover vouchers for food and drinks, which later is declined as certain spending limits are introduced. Being cheated destroys the overall perception.

Music was great. The meal was good and the prices were fair. But the service was kind of lousy. They seemed to forgot to take our food order. We had to ask twice if we could order. The waiter would forget our drink order. Its like he abandoned us. Id be back because of the music.

Oh Mintons, I didnt even know you existed until this past weekend. Came here for a friends birthday and our waiter was nothing short of amazing. He really did a great job with request and making sure our table was all good. There was an added music charge per person on a bill, so be aware of that when coming here. The food can be expensive for those who are on budgets etc. But the food is goood! The music, is absolutely lovely. Takes you to a place where you feel free and relaxed. Definitely a place to check out.

Its one classy joint. Staff are lovely and the music was award-worthy. And the food! I had the empanadas, the skirt steak, and the trees leches cake. OMG. Not a bite that wasnt heavenly. Paired with that Latin Jazz? On cloud 9. And did I mention the Manhattan cocktail? Love!

It was a very nice restaurant, but my daughter made a reservation for a certain time for their sister restaurant. They closed the restaurant that my daughter made the reservation for for a private affair and they didnt give her any type of notice. That would have been common courtesy. We went for my daughters 21st birthday. Her reservation was for 9:45. They could have told her that the kitchen closes at 10:30. We had to end up rushing to eat. The only good thing is that we ended up having the place to ourselves.The lamb that I ordered was so fatty that I couldnt eat it. Their Apple Tinis were ok, but Ive had much better. The works were very nice and polite. I just wasnt very happy that the closed so early. If they close at 11 I feel that they shouldnt have let my daughter make a reservation for 9:45.Its a nice place we just couldnt enjoy it since our reservation was late and they close at 11. I would go back, but I would make sure that I make a earlier reservation so that I have time too enjoy myself. I also would hope that the food is better. My daughter ordered a steak and she really didnt enjoy that.

While the food and ambiance is great, the service and the efforts spent to cater to tourists was discouraging. I went twice in six weeks and my experiences were very different. Even with making a reservation the second time, we were seated in the bar area and not in the main dining area with the live music. They were clearly understaffed, though Dave - the bartender - was awesome. I wish they didn’t cater so much to tourists.

My boyfriend to me here for our anniversary. It was great. The band was wonderful. I thin with a bigger crowd, this place would be jumping. Food was tasty but I could have had more. I was still hungry after but the salmon was delicious.

The best and greatest jazz bar restaurant in New York City in the heart of Harlem and rebirth of the home Bepop legends such Charlie Parker etc.

Went to see the Harlem Jazz. Was very good, the band was very good, payed tribute to singers, musicians like Lena Horn, Nat King Cole, Diane Washington and Sammy Davis Junior.

It was a rocking night but slow on the audience and even so the ones there had funky good time.you have to be there.

There is no place else like this in New York City.My father’s birthday was last August. My mother and I decided that we just had to have a party for him at Minton’s. We had been there a couple of times before and always had wonderful experiences. So I contacted Minton’s and they were more than accommodating when I told them that I wanted to reserve a table for a large party (12 people).Once we arrived, we were immediately seated in the front of the room, right near the band (as I had requested). From that point on, we were treated to great service, wonderful music and awesome food. My father was treated to a heartfelt “Happy Birthday” from the Minton’s staff, Manager and the Executive Chef. I would also like to single out the band’s lead guitarist who made my father and the rest of my table feel like family.I don’t know whether to say it’s the food, the people, or the music but there is something about Minton’s that makes it a wonderful place but I recommend that you experience it for yourself. I plan on going to Minton’s again and again.P.S. I highly recommend the macaroni and cheese, the low country seafood. All desserts were awesome.
