Swing Jazz is a place where every New Yorker should go to. Entrance was $10 per person and we alerted a group of 11, had a great time with drinks, jazz and some dance moves on the floor. Place is open till late night and there were three performances the evening we went to.We were not only greeted by hosts but the Jazz players also stopped by to say hello to us. One of the musicians - Anthony was very friendly and towards the end we all ended up becoming great friends.Definitely a spot where you would like to go on a date or with friends for an evening.Whatever you decide, SwingJazz won’t disappoint.

Lively environment, free mini swing lesson, great drinks and food, and excellent staff. The restrooms could use some better attention. An all around nice place to enjoy with family, friends, a date, or even solo. Would return again.

It s my favorite club in New York city. You can listen with a peaceful lovely jazz and swing music I have a memories with my cousin and my mom. Hope to see open this lovely place in a shiny new happy days. God bless does beutafull people. Amen

Nice staff and nothing wrong with the service but the food was way over priced and the fact that they applied a forced 18% gratitude when your not even happy with the food just feels wrong. We wish we would have went to another place.

Love coming here every Tuesday for the George Gee Swing Orchestra! They are a fabulous swing orchestra and are sure to get you up off your seat to dance. If you arrive early, they offer a quick lesson in swing dancing while the band takes a break. Its free to sit at the bar, which is in a separate room from the stage. It will cost you $15 to sit at a table in the room with the stage. The food and drinks are quite pricey, but definitely enough to split a meal between two.

A good place to experience a jazzy night in NYC with more affordable price. Their New York cheese cake is yummy. Only $5 entrance fee.

We came to hear the Jive Aces . We been here before and like it. Food is very good. Service can be faster especially with a full house. We had a good time. Plenty of room to dance. Their website can be much better.

I was very impressed with the musicians that performed at this place . The musicianship level of a swing jazz band, the big concert band that played on November 7th, 2019 is exceptional. I was pleasantly “shocked”!The atmosphere is chill. We felt ( our group of 10 friends) as if we were on a set of Woody Allen film.The crowd is mixed - patrons of all ages are welcome.Regarding food- we did not come for fine dinning and did not expect it.The cover charge of $15.00 is very reasonable. The band is qualified to play at Lincoln jazz center.We had a fun night out. Will go back .

-Cool place. Had a nice theme. But seems to have a much older crowd.-Drinks were very expensive $$$.For only 5-6 drinks, the bill was $80 plus tip.-And we went as a group of 4 ppl on a Wednesday night. & The place was deserted.-Maybe on other days its more busy, but it was slow with much older ppl on a Wednesday.

Good cocktails but the decor needs a lot of work in the dining area. Install a tin drop ceiling and paint the walls a light cream color and its a good start. Wont feel like a cave anymore after that.

A horrible experience. Firstly, the prices on their food are ridiculous. Fine dining in the city can be had for less. Table service was horrible. Our waiter was new and repeatedly made mistakes. I had to involve the manager three times and at one point simply started to go to the bar to order drinks for our table. Whats more, my daughters food came out over thirty minutes after ours. She sat watching everyone else eat as she snacked on bread. Youd think they would comp her plate? ($36 plate of Ravioli??????) Of course they didnt. I will never return... Avoid like the plague!

Great music, service, food, and drinks. Perfect place for a first date or a fun time in general. Take the dance lesson if you can. Its a good way to mingle.

Its a music club with live swing band but you have to pay more to sit in the dance / band area to watch the band. The club was virtually empty so the pay more approach must be putting people off of going. A shame because it could be a very good venue. We visited mid week so this could explain why it was quiet.

Steven simply best no words can describe or justify the service we received. Must go place. Food is simply awesome. They charged $40 twice for the live music table i am hoping it could be a honest mistake will find out soon..

A good fun night for all the family. Its a bit expensive to sit in the main restaurant but you do get to enjoy the show properly. Food is not too bad but nothing to write home about.

This place is so shady. What a joke. The food was not good. The mashed potatoes were fake right out of the box. They had a drink menu with specialty drinks to include Patron, We asked for a shot of Patron and the server stated they only had Hornitos. So they advertised drinks without the proper major brand in the house. They were out certain appetizers after we ordered and the service was horrible. I would not recommend or go back and it wasnt picture worthy. Sorry 2 thumbs down!

What an awesome place! We had our holiday party and it was lots of fun, music and dancing.

Brought my wife here for her birthday. It was the best date weve ever been on. It can be expensive. Theres a $20 cover to hold your table so you can take swing dancing lessons. The food was above average. Same for the drinks. The reality is you pay for a memorable experience. Absolutely worth it!

Music was great, but place is a total rip off. Rude hostile blonde waitress came to our table AFTER we had ordered drinks and food and harassed us for a cover charge. Bad energy.

So fun . I came to celebrate my birthday & had a wonderful time. They treated us to a live band playing greats like Duke Ellington , Count Basie, and they gave us a complimentary swing dance lesson. I had a blast ,would highly recommend.

Authentic Swing Dance venue with some incredible bands that come through. Free dance lesson with excellent instructors included with the cover charge. Throwback vibe makes you feel like its the 1930s. Go on a Tuesday or Friday night for the best bands.

Good place. Good door man. However the bartender Jonathan tried to swindle us for money twice. We thought the first time was an honest mistake ( overcharged by 10$) but then he tried to take 30$ when I gave him a 50$ he said it was his 20$. We told the manager. She counted his till. Then told us she didnt want any problems and gave us 30$ back. Not acceptable. We had been drinking and he seemed to be taking advantage of that. Luckily we only take 50$ dollar bills and break them to get change for tips wherever we go. Beware the bartender here. And keep track of what you give him.

Great band and intimate venue. Set menu but good choices and well served. Food quality good.Only issue was that the small dance floor was full of non-dinners. We understood that the deal was you had to have a meal to be able to stay in the dance area. If we had known we would have just got a drink.The dance lesson between sets was very good.

Fantastic place. Calm and clean environment. Extremely professional and friendly staff. Very generous with the drinks. I may not have been dressed properly for such a nice place(flannel shirt and combat boots)but i was still welcomed just as i would had i been wearing Giorgio Armani. Bravo

Coat check lady was drunk and lost my $60 umbrella. Assistant Manager was rude and belligerent when I asked for a resolution. Never received a call or resolution from owner as promised. Be careful to review your bill. Waitress tried to scam on tip when we payed 50/50, cash / card.

This isn’t a good place for swing dancing. I went on a Saturday and there was hardly anyone there. The dance floor is tiny, and it’s surrounded by tables of people who want to watch the dancing, but no one wants to participate. It’s a very awkward atmosphere. The live music was good, but the experience was not worth it for the $20 cover charge per person. (There is an additional $20 spending minimum per person if you want a table by the stage and dance floor)

The food was absolutely terrible for starters. The only reason this place deserves a one star rating was for Paul. As for the owner he has no understanding how to run a business and satisfy his customers. He was rude and miserable and has bugs crawling on the walls of the restaurant. Overall it was one of the worst experiences I’ve came across in a restaurant setting in NYC. Not to mention a dog running around while I was attempting to digest the disgusting food.

Came to see the Stephen Santoro Orchestra and loved every minute. Great band, music & atmosphere. Food was quite good, but we really came for the show... and it did not disappoint in the least.

Ill start with the positives: nice bar staff and nice server, band was ok.The negatives though... firstly the dance floor is tiny with, not a place for swing dancing. For a venue promoting itself as a place for dancers, it just wasnt what is promised to be at all.We wanted to have a nice meal and thought that judging by the prices, food must be amazing. To say a $1 ready meal is better would be an understatement. How difficult is it to get a vegetable pasta right? Still being hopeful, thought ok...guess were also paying for the venue and the band in this price. Nope, we found theres an extra charge for the band ($15 dollars a head which apparently was a discount...not judging but other reviews!!). We were told about this charge after wed paid for our meal and was about to leave. Joke of a place and utter disappointment.

Not a place for swing dancers/Lindy hoppers. Food was bland and far too expensive. We paid the extortionate amount to see the band and have a dance on the tiny dancefloor only to be met with a charge of $15 each for the band - a charge that we were not told about at all (even as this was our second time in there that day). Sat here writing this in utter disappointment.Bar staff and the waiter were great. Very polite and hospitable. Just a shame on the expense and quality of venue and food.

This is THE place for great live Swing, especially if youre a fan of the likes of Sinatra, Gershwin, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, etc. Ive been there 3 times and have always found good food and incredible musicians in an intimate and familiar ambiance. It is not expensive at all considering you can find anywhere from 8 to 13 people bands, a few feet from every table. Will keep going every time I visit New York!

Went for a drink with my boyfriend for a drink and some dancing. The band and the singer were pretty entertaining, however only one couple was dancing. During intermission, someone came out and taught some swing steps; that was definitely fun! The drinks were a little pricey, we didnt eat.There was a cover charge of $15 per person, we each had a drink at $12-14 each. I was overcharged $97. I called the restaurant today to resolve this and was advised to call the owner back at 9pm. I called back and he requested for me to call back tomorrow at noon.I would rate my overall experience 2 stars. I will update once issue has been resolved.---This has been resolved.

Wandered in without a reservation after visiting the Rockefeller Tree. They sat our 4 person party quickly. The service was good, themeals were good and the happy hour drinks are tasty. A good pick! Try it you’ll like it.

The band was amazing, and the staff super friendly. Only had drinks, no food but those were good too. Dont go if you dont like LOUD music. No talking allowed. But they played my favorites, Ricky Vallens era kind of stuff

From the greeters on the side walk to the hostess Michelle and Jonathan the bartender what a fabulous experience. This place is great all the way around. Our group ordered apps-calamari, wings and coconut shrimp;YUM!!!! *Live salsa band was en fuego! What a great time!!! Check this place out on restaurant row,you will not be disappointed.

If you love jazz. big bands, an old supper club feel from 40s movies and great food, youll love Swing 46. Live music starting at 8:30 during the week and 9 on the weekends. Sometimes they have dance lessons too. But even if you go early, the food is worth the trip.

We brought my musician brother- and sister-in law here while they were visiting New York. We came early for the opening set and were able to do the fixed price menu. Everyone enjoyed their food, mine was a pasta primavera in a rich and lovely tomato sauce, and the cocktails were especially good. The music was fantastic - a great variety well executed and the few couples on the dance floor were very fun to watch. We didnt get to stay for the full swing dance lesson but it was a nice way to fill intermission. While it is true that the upholstery and bathrooms could use updating, that is really my only complaint. It was a very nice experience in the heart of Midtown!

Scam! Was lured in with the promise of 2 for 1 drinks but only one per person, fair enough still a good deal. Bought an expensive drink each thinking we would get our second free but it turned out to be a scam. The blonde waitress was very rude and hostile and this whole experience dampened our night and its a shame as our experience of other bars in New York had been positive.

Every time I come here I have a blast. I can just enjoy the show with a meal and drink, or I can hop in and swing dance to the amazing performers. Of course, I can’t swing dance at all, but the venue is so relaxed and everyone is there to have a good time, so I never feel like a fool. The drink specials are great as well. Really a gem of a place that makes NYC what it is.

Pros: great music, lovely place, lively atmosphere. Cons: cover charge and price of the food had me expecting some really tasty fare... but failed to deliver in that department. I ordered a Rigatoni and Shrimp; it came to me like it was swimming in soup rather than the creamy rich garlic sauce it promised to be. The taste was okay but bland. Service, while friendly, was a little slow. For the price, I was expecting better.

Music was awesome. Service was average. Food was well below average. They also jam you with a $20 cover charge at the door that I didn’t see anywhere on there website or on opentable where we made our reservation. (Possible that I missed it but pretty sure it’s not there.)

Waitress was very nice BUT. The decor is VERY dated, old rocky chairs and a thick coat of dust on the ledge next to my table. The food was HORRIBLE. The steak and ribs were DEFINITELY frozen (I am sure it was freezer burned) with sauce to smother the evidence.

I wanted to love this place. Dance floor was decent sized but not huge. The band was great. The cover charge to me was a bit much though. I would have preferred to have to had ordered €20 worth of drinks. The actual bar is in the front of the place. Then you enter the restaurant which seemed to be upscalish. The dance floor came next and then the stage. Theres a disco ball and mirrors which give it a certain feel. Location is good in sense its close to times square, but that added stress to find parking... Didnt eat, only danced. Also in opinion it started too late. It started either 9 or 930pm.

Attended for a Holiday party for workI had an excellent time. Work scheduled this for our party. I enjoyed it. Cocktail hour had great options bar staff was fast and accurate. Drinks looked strong. Dinner was good. Nothing noteworthy but well cooked and seasoned. Dessert meh. The show was entertaining actors were very entertaining. Interaction was fun. The one real issue I had was with the coat check! Waited 45 mins in line for my bag which ended up not even in the room but outside and ugh. But a better coat check would be a great improvement

A unique experience filled with great live music and highly unprofessional wait staff.When we first sat down, we heard the (the owner) John scolding and cursing out the band in front of everyone at the restaurant. We were all uncomfortable for the band.The 30 minute dance lesson was lovely even though there was a limited amount of dance floor space. The live music began shortly after 9:30pm and that was a lot of fun for everyone.At intermission, we went on stage (along with everyone else) to take pictures and we were also scolded ourselves by one of the men from the wait staff loudly & multiple times. Once again that was very unprofessional.This is New York, Im sure there are better swing clubs out there. We will not be coming back.

Im not even knocking the cooks they clearly no what theyre doing and present it great... the problem... its bland, cheap, and severely overpriced for the quality. If swing 46 can invest in a new menu... the place would be a lights out winner. However Ill end on a positive. The place keeps the music alive and has a phenomenal instructor they bring In. Came here on a Sunday evening, bartender and host (only folks we happened to interact with) were super friendly and seemed to be having a good time and enjoying the music. The band was really good, played more funk/Motown than swing on this night, but sounded great. The dance floor consistently had folks out there adding to the atmosphere. We had an old fashioned and manhattan, both tasty. Great experience at a place we just saw while walking down the street and decided to step into!

Expensive drinks... good vibes.

On arrival this restaurant appeared to be exactly what we were looking for; intimate , quirky and had some good sounds musically. The menu was passable nothing to whet an experienced palette so I decided on the scallops. On perusing the wine menu the wine list was basic with an extravagant price.The scallops was listed as being served with horseradish mash. I was served gloopy mash minus horseradish. The scallops were perfect.My dining companion went to use the restroom and wad confronted by absolutely filth. She was horrified as was I by the hostesses response. No apology, no cleaning , just an excuse about plumbing . We asked for the bill and before we had our coats on they had people in on top of us to take our table.The place at best is a low class restaurant by European standards, with terrible management. Ill be giving it a miss on my next visit.

Good food, drinks, but mainly, the music is the best in town- and the cover is good.. and you can learn to swing dance!! Lots of fun!
