I had received tickets to the show as a gift. This really was a fun night.. we got there a hour before the 7:30 show, they let us pick our own seats which were great. The place had a throw back feel. We order dinner and it was on the table in minutes. Not a huge menu but some tasty stuff. Also the waiter and staff was excellent. The band was great they played a hour set of Charles Mingus. Everything was great also they dont want you to tip, just come back and support the music. I definitely will be going back soon!

Jazz Standard is my go-to jazz place in the city, it hosts great acts and their food never disappoints.Went to see their yearly Christmas jazz show (about a week before Christmas) and thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks.Tried the Jacks Fried Bread (new one for me, will def get it again), skillet mac and cheese (always a great choice), brisket, coleslaw (alright but still good). Cocktail was the porch swing, loved it.Definitely bring your jazz and BBQ loving friends here

Jazz and BBQ, what could be better? The BBQ is good, not too much smoke flavor to overwhelm. The sides are prepared with just as much care. The atmosphere is great and of course, dinner and a show cant be beat.

Really nice bar, but not my style. The band we saw were serious professionals (which is great), but for me jazz is more about improvisation and feeling. The show we saw was another night that same band played together. They were great, but for me it was missing the grungy jazz feeling

Such a great place to experience the Jazz side of New York. The ambient and the place is really authentic. Even though is a little bit on the expensive side, the tickets for concerts are well priced. We went to see the Mingus Big Band and had water and sodas, and it was cheap. Totally worth it.

First time here and I was very happy with service and the food was amazing. I was invited by my brother in law to see a blues and jazz group (first time for me) and I had a blast. Couldnt ask for more. I found that if I go to a place or event with zero expectations I tend to have more fun and this was exactly that.

I was schooled on differences in beer when ordering, hey guy with the skinny beard taking my order...I’m 42 I know the difference between a light beer a Pilsner and an IPA before I could explain I just was loudly lectured to and he literally said let me give you some beer school 101?! The nerve. Rude dude, my tip reflects that on a $11 Bronx brewery draft? Price gauge 2boot. Dinner and jazz were great as always just yeah who is this guy being rude to people older than you??

One of the best Jazz clubs in New York City. The music ranges from Jazz Veterans and traditional Jazz to the latest up and coming artists pushing the envelope with very creative and sometimes experimental music. Lots of world music influenced Jazz as well. One of the best parts is that this club is connected to one of the best BBQ restaurants in Manhattan so all of the food you order comes from there essentially. Great for bringing a hardcore Jazz fan, a foodie, or even for a date night. Make sure to make reservations though, they often sell out and there is really nothing else nearby so being without a ticket will leave you having to head to an entirely different area of the city.

The Jazz Standard is the first jazz club I have been to. My girlfriend took me here for my birthday in 2018 and I was blown away. I knew I would be back. We told some friends about it and they displayed interest. Nearly a year after the first visit we came back and our date the first time around became a double date this time. We saw the Jimmy Greene quintet and they were awesome. I bought one of his CDs after the show. For food we got 4 BBQ platters and 4 sides. The baby back ribs were super tender, glad we got two of that order. My girlfriend loved the brisket. Their biscuits were our favorite side but that isnt to knock the Mac and cheese or creamed spinach. The price, the quality of food, and the music earn the Jazz Standard 5 stars in my book.

...The Jazz Standard books a nice cross section of artists who represent a variety of styles within the idiom...Big bands, piano-bass-drum trios, vocalists, African and Latin tinged acts, ensembles from across the spectrum (traditional to more progressive musical offerings)...The quality of the sound is generally good, although some seats in this L-shaped basement room have less than stellar sightlines...The club has recently adopted a NO TIPPING POLICY, which is quite novel in the realm of jazz clubs...The staff is generally polite and accommodating, which makes the experience here even nicer!...

Oh goodness, what a great New York jazz venue. I was in NYC again last year and had the radio on in my hotel room, where I heard that Dr Lonnie Smith was on at Jazz Standard. I thought damn, I wish Id known and got a ticket in advance because thats what you have to do in London, months in advance in the case of Dr Lonnie.Anyway, I turned up at about 7ish and asked the lady on the door if any tickets might be available: Sure, she said and I was soon being lead to a seat.Is there anything nearer the stage? maybe near the drummer? I asked. Sure, no problem, how about here? and for $30 I was sat practically ON the stage with no fuss, no silly prices, no booking in advance. This is why I love New York.Dr Lonnie was marvellous, he even sat down opposite me to play his Midi walking stick for a bit!Not only that, it was actually the best meal I had in New York that week too, really. Although I did just check the current menu (March 2017) and it seems pretty meat-heavy (a pescatarian here).Menu aside, Jazz Standard is exceptional. I even met a couple of friendly folk who sat at the same table as me when I was there, we chatted about jazz and shared a bottle of Malbec. That doesnt happen in London.Jazz Standard, a great New York Jazz venue.

Went there on a Saturday for the 9pm show, we didn’t have reservations was on the spur of the moment decision and we were easily accommodated. Perhaps we were lucky as was pouring out - either way it worked out. It cost $30 per person to get inI would suggest getting there about twenty minutes or so prior to the scheduled time and stand by the stairs as a huge line will form out of the blue as time approaches. Small and quaint interior (shared tables) very good acoustics, table service was slow but friendly. The lights dimmed as the performance started and the atmosphere in the room was great. There is a no cell phone rule (pretty much appreciated!!)Food –* Grilled Salmon with BBQ sauce* FriesBoth were good! We wanted to order a dessert but our waitress never got back LOLIf you like live jazz check the schedule and do yourself a favor and go. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening!

Good place for music but don’t bother eating here unless you REALLY REALLY want a good seat. And then only order drinks - 2 at a time if you don’t want to wait eons for service. The wait staff is horrible - complete failure to check up on us after our food was served or when our drinks were empty. Pulled pork was dry, fried chicken had a crazy impenetrable 2” thick crust. Pimento cheese, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were ok.

Jazz Standard has yet to let me down. Set in a cozy basement den, I get to enjoy three of my favorite things all at once: good food, strong drinks, and live jazz. Even on a Sunday night when Im usually more liable to stay in and gurd myself for the week, I can drop in for an evening show and feel renewed when I walk out. The service is great and you can tell they get a kick out of the music as much as I do. I cant speak for their food since I didnt have any but their drinks are decent. This isnt a casual bar with jazz on the side. This is a venue where jazz performances are held; youre asked to keep quiet during performances. The one performance that was held when I was there was quite amazing. Id go back for other events.

Jazz Standard was the perfect venue in which to host this event. The food, of course, is fantastic, as its attached to Blue Smoke, one of the most famous bbq joints in NYC. The corned beef wasnt too salty as corned beef often can be. And it was peppered just right. The greens salad w/ creamy sesame dressing was perfectly dressed. The dessert...oh my. The chocolate cake was a gourmet delight. And the cheesecake was a dream. All of this with perfectly relaxing ambiance made for a great night of jazz. Ill be back for more.

I didn’t have a reservation and they put loose chairs in the middle of the walkway where all the waiters are working and where people pass by and only there to sell one more ticket, it is not a suitable place to receive an audience. if the show is sold out they should not sell tickets instead of trying to locate people scattered anywhere.I thought it was a lack of respect, I hope they can reconsider and stop doing it.
