The owner is a cool guy and he knows his stuff. Well maintained machines but not many compared to a larger arcade. Definitely a tourist trap, very expensive... If youre visiting NY, I recommend Sunshine Laundromat over this spot.

I loved this place! The people were great and it was so much fun. They have a lot of pinball machines and you can play for hours. It was nostalgic to pinball like it used to be back in the day. Great place to chill and meet up with friends to hang out. Can’t wait to go back!

Great place for kids, adults (provided you are into pinball gaming) and pinball aficionados. Pinball is making a big comeback nowadays, after years of certain neglect in favor of first the early primitive arcade video games and then - seemingly in an irrevocable fashion - at-home console or computer games. Now, as it is very often the case with all things good, pinball is becoming a trend, and not even in a nostalgic or retro way.Modern Pinball NYC Arcade features about 30 pinball machines of every persuasion, some of them at least three or four decades old, judging on their names, from Beatlemania to Addams Family, and from Shrek to KISS, among many others.Upon your check-in you are given a yellow bracelet that allows you to leave and come back at your volition, any time until midnight.Gaming is unlimited (which - for me personally - takes some excitement off) and there are step stools provided for the kids of younger age, to facilitate easy gaming.Food or drinks are not allowed to be brought in.Apparently, there is also a Museum of Modern Pinball, but it looks like the staff-led demonstrations of pinball machines inner workings should be booked in advance.Tickets are available on-line, the current sale rate is $18.71.

The place is awesome if you like pinball. Thats all you do for unlimited time. If you buy it online its cheaper. The only reason that I didnt give them 5 stars is because they dont allow food or drinks, and you cant buy them there either. Theres a lot of bars around, but will be better if you can have it while you are there. Maybe they can use the party room as a hangout area and have a vending machine for sodas and snacks.

If you love pinball and love the idea of playing as many as you want all day long this is the place for you. About 30 different pinball machines both old and new and you pay just the admission fees (which are reasonable). The place is small and a bit crowded but I was there for several hours and got to play every single machine. Note: go to the web site and they have 25 percent off.

If you are into games and nostalgia, this if a good place to check out. Once you pay admission you can play all day. Theres no time limit. You can leave and come back in the same day. There are only pinball machines. Nothing else. No food and drinks allowed. Clean. I came here today (Monday) for my birthday. Not crowded at all. You can come here with friends and challenge them to games. I had a great time.

My family and I (5 adults and 1 teenager) were exploring after dinner and randomly found this place. IT. WAS. A. GEM. My stepmom somehow found a pinball machine that she used to play with as a kid with her late father, all us adults became kids again, and my teenage cousin even had a blast! 10/10 would highly recommend!

We visit Modern Pinball every time were in New York. The kids love it, and so do I. They have a full range of machines, up to the most modern (and for me, most fun) games. They do a great job of maintaining the machines, which is really important. Ive played a bunch of semi-broken games in bars, and its great to play on machines that are working perfectly. You can play all day (until midnight!) for a flat fee. Highly recommended.

Honestly I expected something larger. I also thought it was expensive but that’s only because we didn’t have more than an hour. It was $25 per person for free play all day. So if you can plan to spend time there it’s a good value. Be advised that it’s almost all pinball. Only two multi arcade machines which were occupied the entire hour.

$14 for an hour (per pax) of unlimited fun with pinball machines, also with a small arcade machine for mini games and fighting etc. sadly the little kids occupied the whole 1 hour of our time so we didn’t get to reminisce with the machine.. their parents were there the whole time using their phone updating their IG & Facebook account how they spent time with their kids yay! Yes, we should have spoken up but we didn’t want to spoil their fun..Overall, we spent $28 for two. It’s a 5x10 metre place with pretty much just pinball, what do you expect? cool though!

Modern pinball was good its a little overrated the pinball machines okay but kind of like playing one after the other was the same not a whole lot of difference in the pinball machine. The machines that has Pac-Man and space invader with multi machine meaning that you picked the video game you want to play on one machine not much fun I kind of like the old way of moving from one machine to another with its own special toggle switches lovers and joysticks when you stay on one machine and it just picking what you want to play the graphics on. Crate & Barrel attract my attention too much so its okay something to do when you know like you got nothing else to do and you want to try something different but really its okay but not fantastic another words I wasnt Overjoyed by it

This place is a unique experience, but its hard to imagine spending more than 30 minutes of taking it all in. Im glad I went, but if I knew what I know now, I wouldnt have paid as much as I did.The good: they have about 30 pinball machines, from 1976 to today. It was fascinating to see the evolution of technology and game elements. Game play is free once you pay to get in. The history of the games is posted above eqch game, which is interesting. The bad: With free game play, nothing prevents people from leaving games in the middle, which is inconvenient when trying a new game, or people never leave. We were there for a little over an hour and the two arcade games were occupied the entire time by the same two 4 year old kids. Thats just bad parenting etiquette, I know, but what can you do? Once a game (or most games) gwt filled, there is no throttle on demand. A couple of the games had mechanical problems. There is a documentary on a TV screen that actually looks interesting, but you have to stand and read closed captions to watch it.

We found this place by accident and it left us kinda disappointed - its normal tourist trap, but we realized too late. You dont use coins for the pinball machines, instead you have to pay around $25 per person as an entrance fee for whole day, so if you are not planning to stay there for few hours or come back, its not worth the money if you are just passing by, its worth it for pinball enthusiasts or locals that can come back during the day any time they want.

Stumbled upon this place via Groupon while visiting NYC. Great prices for however long you plan to stay & play. There was quite a selection of very old to newer machines with a enough space not to feel crowded.
