We had such a great time, the house is not huge buts its a must see when in NOLA. Definitely worth the price, and the shop has great items and souvenirs. It was just us in the house so we didnt have to worry about social distancing, they did have sanitizer available and it gave us a needed break from the heat as the house has a running AC. The pictures do not do this place justice, the furnishings are amazing to see. We were also greeted very nicely, which we appreciated.

Pretty cheap for a self guided tour. Didnt take long to go through. Student discount. If you purchase tickets for two or more of the state museums together you get a 20% discount.

Its a small place to visit definitely not ada friendly but if you got a hour to kill its only 5.00 dollars to get . There is about 10 rooms to see a glimpse into the past.

Im giving this 4 stars. But dont expect a lot. Its just an example of a house in 1850.Neat stuff. If youre into interior design (like the girl who would be my girlfriend), youll love it.It will only take 45 mins to an hour to go through, so it wont take your whole day up, and its about 200 feet from 2 other museums in the Jackson Square area.

Enjoyed all the different rooms we could view fixed up like it was still 1850. Each room had speakers telling a short story of what was happening during that era. All of the furniture was beautifully crafted and elegant. My only complaint was not being able to walk around the rooms and only being able to view from the door.

Fascinating! So cool to get a glimpse into the life of people from 150+ years ago. The low doorways and shorter tables/chairs were such a trip - I forget that people were shorter on average back then! The slave quarters was a bit of a gut punch after seeing the blatant opulence upstairs, but just imagine their quarters in poorer areasSuper informative and interesting, plus its mad inexpensive and surprisingly short and sweet - it wont take you more than a half hour to see everything. Worth a stop for sure!

This is a historic site, its setting overlooks Jackson Square, the house is original and the items in it are original of the period, the house has an interesting past, especially regarding its original owner and my wife and I enjoyed listening to our well informed and friendly guide, I particularly enjoyed hearing that Jenny Lind The Swedish Nightingale portrayed recently in The Greatest Showman movie had stayed in the house, I would definitely recommend a visit and get a guided tour

This is such a unique historic gem. The house is displayed with furnishings and details from the 1850s, and show how various families that lived in the Pontalba Buildings through that decade lived, from the luxurious parlour to the spartan slave quarters. This museum changes with the seasons, showing Creole Christmas traditions in December, and the lighter furnishings and curtains in the summer. It doesnt shy away from slavery either. The servant/slave staircases that take you down from the family quarters are wicked steep, so be advised. They can be dangerous for people with balance issues. This is a must-see for people who want to be immersed in antebellum Creole New Orleans, and who are fascinated by material history. Theres few historic houses compiled with such detail, especially those devoted to the middle and upper-middle class. Its absolutely worth the entrance fee!

This is a three story home that consists of a staircase inside, and a staircase outside, with different rooms to view from the staircases, so make sure to use both. When you step into the viewing area a motion sensor starts a soundscape which kind of has reenactments of conversations or the noises you would have heard. Most, if not all of the furniture is from the mid-late 1800s, and was beautifully kept. The fan things at the doorway are to keep the humidity out, as it can ruin the furniture and such.

This historic townhouse can be seen in a self-guided tour or with a docent. The house consists of three bedrooms, a parlour, dining room, a small kitchen, an office (?) , all of which were furnished to reflect the 1850s. If you want to see a bit of history but dont have time or dont wish to visit a museum, you could tour this in 10 minutes or take more time with a docent. Note: Narrow stairs and walkways.

Great guided tour from Kathy was great. Prefered this tour company as guides are volunteers for the museum. The proceeds go to the museum not overhead and comissioned tour guides that are abundant in New Orleans. Max number in tour was 15, ours today was 6. Learned a lot. Volunteers trained by the museum so I am confident the info given wasnt embellished. Fan of staying and benefiting local groups, not hyped up commercial run tours where you just feel like a number in a herd.
