Final nice days in Minneapolis! Spent a couple hours at Lake Hiawatha Park with my grandchildren! They really enjoyed themselves. It is in a nice family neighborhood, peaceful vibe.

A beautiful break from the Mall of America. Had been walking the mall for two days. This park with trails is just a short Uber away. Could not get all the way down to the Mississippi River due to flooding but was a great trip anyway. Tip. If the lines are long at the refreshment stand, there is a Dairy Queen a block away.

Ive lived off this lake for two years and really have not really discovered all it has to offer. Do not expect it to be like the more popular lakes, its more calmer.

Peaceful spot to swim, fish, or paddleboard that is very easy to get to. The downside is that the water is not as clean due to its proximity to Hiawatha golf course. Go early in the season for a swim and you will have a great time!

I came here during the spring and it was really nice. The scenery of the lake was beautiful and the sight of families spending time together with there funny little children was adorable.I would say its probably the best plays for picnics that I know of in the Twin-Cities so far. Its also nice to walk from here towards Minnehaha Falls through the walkway by the creek!

This lake has a great playground area for the kids. There are several different types of playground equipment to choose from based on age or ability. There is also a nice wading pool with a spraying fountain in the middle. There are tennis courts, a baseball field, space for a soccer field, a beach area, a community center, and basketball courts. And of course the great walking/biking trails around the lake. The parking is limited as it is only street parking, but the street goes along the side of the park, we found parking fairly easily. Overall a fun park to play at and great views of the lake.

Grew up loving this park. Our family would often have birthdays here in the summer. My nephews birthday was here in September. Still hands down best park to get together and let kids play where you can see them from picnic area easily. Lots of grass for the dogs to run and kids to play games. Only bummer is a Biffy is the only toilet in the vicinity. I refuse to let my kids go in there. They need to open up bathrooms more often.

This is a gem of a park in South Minneapolis. We often walk to the park (or around it) to either check out the wildlife or just sit and watch the sun set over the lake. There are some areas that are left to grow wild which encourages wildlife. Birding is excellent here. Ive seen eagles, osprey, owls, hawks, merlins, herons, egrets, kingfishers, swallows, warblers, and other various waterfowl and small birds. The sun sets over the lake and can be really lovely at times. The park is also popular for fishing (canoes on the lake or from shore, there is a fishing dock), the playground and wading pool, and pick-up basketball games. It has a park bldg which is available for rentals and family activities. There is a beach here and swimming is permitted but, frankly, I wouldnt swim here. I dont think the lake is clean enough. Im also not sure if anyone eats the fish they catch here or only do catch and release. The park is connected to the Grand Rounds Bike Trail and there is a bit of bike traffic. One has to take care to look both ways when crossing bike paths while in the park and while walking across or near the foot bridge that goes over Minnehaha Creek in the park since there are blind spots that are ripe for bike/pedestrian collisions. You are also just a few miles from the airport. There will be airplane noise. One has to accept it as part of South Mpls urban life. At times, we kind of enjoy watching them line up for landing or taking off.Park land is only on the east side of the lake. Currently, the west side of the lake is the Hiawatha Golf Course which is fenced off from the park.
