So much to see crossing over the Mighty Mississippi River heading east or west! Traffic on the river - traffic on the bridge and a train just might buzz by on the trestle next to this magnificent iron bridge! State line is in the middle of the bridge! The bridge is a great walk/run path. Memphis takes excellent care for their side. Arkansas is a work in progrees

Slow down. It’s an old bridge that is only two lanes each way. Going south there is a sharp exit to stay on 55 south which will slow everyone up.

I travel the old bridge daily, there is bad lighting, can make dangerous situations! New bridge is pretty with beautiful lights! Be careful if you travel the old bridge

Big nice old historical bridge be sure to stay in right lane if you are going 55 south. If not at the end of bridge intersate 55 stops turn into down town Memphis TN. So stay right lane and follow signs for 55 South Jackson MS. And you Will be just fine.

*first of all Maria Rosenberg you need to remove your review this is the wrong bridge you have stuff up for the Hernando de Soto bridge which is Interstate 40 this is the Interstate 55 bridge on the other side of town!!*I love irony this old raggedy bridge dimly-lit at night really sorry condition as you come across Interstate 55 headed towards Mississippi..is very narrow and not very well lit compared to Interstate 40 the Hernando de Soto bridge all lit up welcome you to downtown Memphis for the tourists.. come see Beale Street come down to the Riverwalk come see Sun studios its the yin and the Yang of Memphis..you have the interstate 40 bridge in the downtown Memphis as you see the new Bass pro shops Hotel and convention Center and you see the st. Jude hospital you cross the Mississippi River lit up views everywhere.. where all the tourists come to then you cross this bridge you dont get let into a touristy area at all you could let into a not so scenic side of town dumped out in the middle of the ghetto... literally. missed at hard turn to get on 255 where it continues to wards Mississippi keep going straight yep thats where you are.

This felt like a historic cantilevered bridge from back in the day. The other cool thing is that it sits right next to an active cantilevered train bridge. I am afraid of heights and on this day I happened to be riding in a 16ft truck pulling a car on a trailer - a little unnerving on a semi-narrow bridge. I very much enjoyed my crossing of the Great Mississippi River.

Im afraid of crossing this bridge. It sort of rocks and sways a little. Its also a bit rough. Im not sure why I feel like it its not really very safe. And the lanes are very narrow. Thats a problem Too. When I take the bridge I try to get across it quickly.

I know when I reach this point Im almost halfway home either way

Memphis has the stupidest Bridge it runs west on arkansas side but North and south on memphis side,should be fixed to just run east and west.
