I love this trail. The pine needles coated trail is so peaceful and the tall pine trees sway in the wind. I have seen a huge woodpecker on this trail and you will hear many different bird calls. I take my kids all the time

Yes, quick little 1 mike loop. There was a doe that followed us for the final 1/8th of a mile. It was so neat.

Very nice 1 mile loop. Good for leisurely stroll, brisk walk, or trail running. Today was a 3 times around brisk walk day for me. Truly enjoyed the fact that a high school crush of mine was there with his family for a photoshoot!

What a beautiful and well maintained little walking trail! Bustling with far more wildlife than many of the other trails in the area

Great place, excelent rangers, really good Jr Ranger Program. Go to the Visitor center and you can get your kids a Junior Ranger Packet that they can fill out, some things are coloring pages, some are drives throught the refuge. At the end when they submit their program booklet and will get sworn in as Jr. Rangers and get a badge.

Nice short hike through pine plantations out to a waterfowl lookout. A good portion of the trail is currently closed off, which, when open, makes for really nice loop trail through pine and some hardwood forest. The loop trail is now open all the way through.

This is a GREAT trail for little ones. We took our kids when they were small. Now we are taking their kids. Our 6 year old grandson pushed his little sister the whole way in an umbrella stroller. My wife and I go when we want a quick walk through nature. Pine needles are natural mulch for most of the trail. There is a wildlife observation structure with benches if you want some downtime. Nice trail.
